1 Now, concerning the ministry that is done toward the saints, it is not necessary for me to write to you.	1 Je n’ai pas besoin de vous écrire longuement au sujet du service d’aide aux saints, à nos frères.
2 For I know your willing mind. I glory about you, concerning this, to the Macedonians. For Achaia has also been prepared, for the past year. And your example has inspired very many others.	2 Je sais vos bonnes dispositions et j’ai fait votre éloge chez les Macédoniens, disant que ceux d’Achaïe étaient prêts depuis longtemps. Et votre élan a stimulé beaucoup d’entre eux.
3 Now I have sent the brothers, so that what we glory about concerning you might be not be empty in this matter, in order that (as I have explained) you may be prepared.	3 Maintenant j’ai envoyé ces frères pour qu’on vous trouve prêts comme je l’ai affirmé; il ne faudrait pas démentir le bien que j’ai dit de vous sur ce point.
4 Otherwise, if the Macedonians arrive with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you) would be ashamed in this matter.	4 Imaginez que les Macédoniens viennent avec moi et ne vous trouvent pas prêts: quelle honte pour moi et aussi pour vous!
5 Therefore, I considered it necessary to ask the brothers to go to you in advance and to prepare this blessing as promised, and in this way, you may be ready as a blessing, not as an excess.	5 Il m’a donc paru nécessaire de dire à ces frères qu’ils me précèdent chez vous pour organiser cette œuvre bénie dont nous avons parlé. Car il faut la préparer comme une largesse et non comme une aumône.
6 But I say this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. And whoever sows with blessings shall also reap from blessings:	6 Une chose est sûre: celui qui sème pauvrement fera une pauvre récolte. Celui qui sème largement fera une grande récolte.
7 each one giving, just as he has determined in his heart, neither out of sadness, nor out of obligation. For God loves a cheerful giver.	7 Que chacun donc décide personnellement, sans contrainte et sans regret, car Dieu aime celui qui donne joyeusement.
8 And God is able to make every grace abound in you, so that, always having what you need in all things, you may abound unto every good work,	8 Et Dieu est capable de vous bénir de mille manières, de sorte que vous ne manquiez jamais de rien et puissiez multiplier vos bonnes œuvres,
9 just as it was written: “He has distributed widely, he has given to the poor; his justice remains from age to age.”	9 comme dit l’Écriture: Il a donné de tous les côtés à ceux qui avaient faim; ses mérites sont là pour toujours.
10 And he who ministers seed to the sower will offer you bread to eat, and will multiply your seed, and will increase the growth of the fruits of your justice.	10 Celui qui procure au semeur la semence, et ensuite le pain qu’il mange, vous procurera la semence et la multipliera; et il fera croître ces rejetons de vos vertus.
11 So then, having been enriched in all things, you may abound in all simplicity, which works thanksgiving to God through us.	11 Soyez riches de tout pour donner sans compter, et nous en ferons une action de grâces à Dieu.
12 For the ministration of this office not only supplies whatever the saints need, but also abounds through many thanksgivings in the Lord.	12 Car ce service d’entraide fera plus que soulager la pauvreté des saints: il fera monter vers Dieu de nombreuses actions de grâces.
13 And so, through the evidence of this ministry, you glorify God by the obedience of your confession in the Gospel of Christ, and by the simplicity of your communion with them and with everyone,	13 Ce service leur sera une preuve: ils rendront grâces à Dieu parce que vous obéissez à la foi selon l’Évangile du Christ et parce que vous partagez sans compter avec eux et avec tous.
14 and they offer prayers for you, being solicitous about you, because of the excellent grace of God within you.	14 Ils vous sauront gré de ce que la grâce de Dieu a agi en vous, et ils prieront pour vous.
15 Thanks be to God for his ineffable gift.	15 Que Dieu soit béni pour ce don plus grand qu’on ne saurait dire.
