1 Now it happened that, when the crowds pressed toward him, so that they might hear the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Genesaret.	1 Un jour la foule s’écrasait autour de lui pour mieux entendre la parole de Dieu, et lui se tenait au bord du lac de Génésaret.
2 And he saw two boats standing beside the lake. But the fishermen had climbed down, and they were washing their nets.	2 À ce moment il vit deux barques amarrées sur le bord du lac: les pêcheurs en étaient descendus et lavaient leurs filets.
3 And so, climbing into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, he asked him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting down, he taught the crowds from the boat.	3 Il monta dans l’une des barques, qui était à Simon, et lui demanda de s’écarter un peu de la rive. Puis, de la barque où il était assis, il continua d’enseigner les foules.
4 Then, when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, “Lead us into deep water, and release your nets for a catch.”	4 Quand il eut fini de parler il dit à Simon: "Avance vers le large et jetez vos filets pour la pêche.”
5 And in response, Simon said to him: “Teacher, working throughout the night, we caught nothing. But on your word, I will release the net.”	5 Simon répondit: "Maître, nous avons eu beau faire, nous n’avons rien pris de toute la nuit. Mais si tu le dis, je vais jeter les filets.”
6 And when they had done this, they enclosed such a copious multitude of fish that their net was rupturing.	6 C’est ce qu’ils firent, et ils ramassèrent une telle quantité de poissons que leurs filets étaient près de se déchirer!
7 And they signaled to their associates, who were in the other boat, so that they would come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were nearly submerged.	7 Alors ils firent signe à leurs associés qui étaient dans l’autre barque pour qu’ils viennent les aider. Ils arrivèrent et remplirent les deux barques presque à les faire couler.
8 But when Simon Peter had seen this, he fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”	8 Voyant cela, Simon-Pierre se jeta aux pieds de Jésus et lui dit: "Éloigne-toi de moi, Seigneur, car je suis un homme pécheur!”
9 For astonishment had enveloped him, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish that they had taken.	9 Lui et ses aides étaient en effet sous le coup de la stupeur à cause de cette pêche qu’ils venaient de faire;
10 Now the same was true of James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were associates of Simon. And Jesus said to Simon: “Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men.”	10 de même Jacques et Jean, les fils de Zébédée, qui étaient des compagnons de Simon. Jésus dit alors à Simon: "Ne crains pas! À partir de maintenant ce sont les personnes que tu pêcheras!”
11 And having led their boats to land, leaving behind everything, they followed him.	11 Ils ramenèrent les barques à terre, puis ils laissèrent tout et le suivirent.
12 And it happened that, while he was in a certain city, behold, there was a man full of leprosy who, upon seeing Jesus and falling to his face, petitioned him, saying: “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”	12 Comme Jésus se trouvait dans une certaine ville, voici qu’un homme se présente, couvert de lèpre. Arrivé devant Jésus, il se prosterne et le supplie: "Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me guérir!”
13 And extending his hand, he touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And at once, the leprosy departed from him.	13 Aussitôt Jésus étend la main et le touche en disant: "Je le veux: sois guéri!” Sur ce, la lèpre le quitte.
14 And he instructed him that he should tell no one, “But go, show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your cleansing, just as Moses has commanded, as a testimony for them.”	14 Jésus alors lui fait la leçon: "Ne le dis à personne, mais va te montrer au prêtre et offre pour ta purification le sacrifice ordonné par Moïse: tu feras ainsi ta déclaration.”
15 Yet word of him traveled around all the more. And great crowds came together, so that they might listen and be cured by him from their infirmities.	15 Malgré cela, sa renommée se répandait de plus en plus. Des foules nombreuses se regroupaient pour l’entendre et pour se faire guérir de leurs infirmités,
16 And he withdrew into the desert and prayed.	16 mais lui cherchait des endroits retirés pour y prier.
17 And it happened, on a certain day, that he again sat down, teaching. And there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting nearby, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present, to heal them.	17 Il était un certain jour en train d’enseigner. Dans l’assistance se trouvaient des Pharisiens et des maîtres de la Loi venus de tous les coins de Galilée et de Judée, et même de Jérusalem. Juste à ce moment la force du Seigneur lui permettait de faire des guérisons.
18 And behold, some men were carrying in the bed of a man who was paralyzed. And they sought a way to bring him in, and to place him before him.	18 Se présentent alors des hommes qui amènent un paralysé sur un brancard. Ils cherchent à le faire entrer pour le déposer devant Jésus,
19 And not finding a way by which they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they climbed up to the roof, and they let him down through the roof tiles with his bed, into their midst, in front of Jesus.	19 mais ils ne voient pas comment le faire passer, tellement il y a de monde. Alors ils montent sur la terrasse et, au travers des tuiles, ils le descendent avec sa paillasse en plein milieu, devant Jésus.
20 And when he saw his faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”	20 Lui, voyant leur foi, dit simplement: "Mon ami, tes péchés te sont pardonnés!”
21 And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: “Who is this, who is speaking blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins, except God alone?”	21 Aussitôt les maîtres de la Loi et les Pharisiens commencent à faire des réflexions: "Cet homme vient de dire un blasphème; qui peut pardonner les péchés sinon Dieu?”
22 But when Jesus realized their thoughts, responding, he said to them: “What are you thinking in your hearts?	22 Mais Jésus sait ce qu’ils pensent et il leur répond: "Pourquoi réagissez-vous ainsi?
23 Which is easier to say: ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk?’	23 Quel est le plus facile de dire: ‘Tes péchés te sont pardonnés’, ou: ‘Lève-toi et marche’?
24 But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic, “I say to you to: Rise up, take up your bed, and go into your house.”	24 Eh bien vous saurez que sur la terre le Fils de l’Homme a autorité pour remettre les péchés.” Et Jésus dit au paralysé: "Lève-toi, tu m’entends! prends ta paillasse et rentre chez toi.”
25 And at once, rising up in their sight, he took up the bed on which he was lying, and he went away to his own house, magnifying God.	25 À l’instant même il se leva sous leurs yeux; il prit la paillasse sur laquelle il était allongé et rentra chez lui, chantant la gloire de Dieu.
26 And astonishment took hold of everyone, and they were magnifying God. And they were filled with fear, saying: “For we have seen miracles today.”	26 Tous étaient bouleversés et rendaient gloire à Dieu; ils disaient: "Aujourd’hui nous avons vu des choses incroyables!” et tous étaient sous le coup d’une crainte religieuse.
27 And after these things, he went out, and he saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the customs office. And he said to him, “Follow me.”	27 Comme Jésus sortait, il aperçut un employé de l’impôt du nom de Lévi, assis à son poste de percepteur. Jésus lui dit: "Suis-moi!”
28 And leaving behind everything, rising up, he followed him.	28 Lévi laissa tout; il se leva et le suivit.
29 And Levi made a great feast for him in his own house. And there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others, who were sitting at table with them.	29 Lévi prépara dans sa maison un grand repas en l’honneur de Jésus; il y avait là à table avec eux tout un monde de collecteurs de l’impôt et d’autres du même genre.
30 But the Pharisees and scribes were murmuring, saying to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”	30 Voyant cela, les Pharisiens et les maîtres de la Loi faisaient des réflexions aux disciples: "Comment pouvez-vous manger et boire avec les collecteurs de l’impôt et les pécheurs?”
31 And responding, Jesus said to them: “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who have maladies.	31 C’est Jésus qui leur répondit: "Les bien portants n’ont pas besoin du médecin, il est pour les malades.
32 I have not come to call the just, but sinners to repentance.”	32 Ce ne sont pas les justes que je viens appeler à la conversion, mais les pécheurs.”
33 But they said to him, “Why do the disciples of John fast frequently, and make supplications, and those of the Pharisees act similarly, while yours eat and drink?”	33 Ils dirent à Jésus: "Les disciples de Jean-Baptiste jeûnent souvent et font des prières, et c’est pareil chez les Pharisiens, mais les tiens mangent et boivent!”
34 And he said to them: “How can you cause the sons of the groom to fast, while the groom is still with them?	34 Jésus leur dit: "Vous ne pouvez pas faire jeûner les compagnons du nouvel époux tant que l’époux est avec eux.
35 But the days will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast, in those days.”	35 Mais un jour l’époux leur sera enlevé; en ces jours-là, oui, ils jeûneront.”
36 Then he also made a comparison for them: “For no one sews a patch from a new garment onto an old garment. Otherwise, he both disrupts the new one, and the patch from the new one does not join together with the old one.	36 Il leur dit encore cette parabole: "Personne ne prend une pièce sur un vêtement neuf pour réparer un vieux vêtement. Vous ne le voyez pas déchirant le neuf pour qu’ensuite la pièce prise sur le neuf ne s’accorde pas avec le vieux.
37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine ruptures the wineskins, and it will be poured out, and the wineskins will be lost.	37 Personne non plus ne met le vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres. Sinon le vin nouveau fera éclater les outres: voilà le vin répandu et les outres perdues.
38 Instead, the new wine is put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.	38 Mettez le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves!
39 And no one who is drinking the old, soon wishes for the new. For he says, ‘The old is better.’ ”	39 “ Celui qui est habitué au vin vieux n’a aucun désir du nouveau; il dit en effet: "Le vieux est excellent!”
