1 And after some days, he again entered into Capernaum.	1 Entrò di nuovo a Cafàrnao, dopo alcuni giorni. Si seppe che era in casa
2 And it was heard that he was in the house. And so many gathered that there was no room left, not even at the door. And he spoke the word to them.	2 e si radunarono tante persone che non vi era più posto neanche davanti alla porta; ed egli annunciava loro la Parola.
3 And they came to him, bringing a paralytic, who was being carried by four men.	3 Si recarono da lui portando un paralitico, sorretto da quattro persone.
4 And when they were not able to present him to him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was. And opening it, they lowered down the stretcher on which the paralytic was lying.	4 Non potendo però portarglielo innanzi, a causa della folla, scoperchiarono il tetto nel punto dove egli si trovava e, fatta un’apertura, calarono la barella su cui era adagiato il paralitico.
5 Then, when Jesus had seen their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”	5 Gesù, vedendo la loro fede, disse al paralitico: «Figlio, ti sono perdonati i peccati».
6 But some of the scribes were sitting in that place and thinking in their hearts:	6 Erano seduti là alcuni scribi e pensavano in cuor loro:
7 “Why is this man speaking in this way? He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”	7 «Perché costui parla così? Bestemmia! Chi può perdonare i peccati, se non Dio solo?».
8 At once, Jesus, realizing in his spirit that they were thinking this within themselves, said to them: “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?	8 E subito Gesù, conoscendo nel suo spirito che così pensavano tra sé, disse loro: «Perché pensate queste cose nel vostro cuore?
9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up, take up your stretcher, and walk?’	9 Che cosa è più facile: dire al paralitico “Ti sono perdonati i peccati”, oppure dire “Àlzati, prendi la tua barella e cammina”?
10 But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic:	10 Ora, perché sappiate che il Figlio dell’uomo ha il potere di perdonare i peccati sulla terra,
11 “I say to you: Rise up, take up your stretcher, and go into your house.”	11 dico a te – disse al paralitico –: àlzati, prendi la tua barella e va’ a casa tua».
12 And immediately he got up, and lifting up his stretcher, he went away in the sight of them all, so that they all wondered. And they honored God, by saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”	12 Quello si alzò e subito presa la sua barella, sotto gli occhi di tutti se ne andò, e tutti si meravigliarono e lodavano Dio, dicendo: «Non abbiamo mai visto nulla di simile!».
13 And he departed again to the sea. And the entire crowd came to him, and he taught them.	13 Uscì di nuovo lungo il mare; tutta la folla veniva a lui ed egli insegnava loro.
14 And as he was passing by, he saw Levi of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs office. And he said to him, “Follow me.” And rising up, he followed him.	14 Passando, vide Levi, il figlio di Alfeo, seduto al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: «Seguimi». Ed egli si alzò e lo seguì.
15 And it happened that, as he sat at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat at table together with Jesus and his disciples. For those who followed him were many.	15 Mentre stava a tavola in casa di lui, anche molti pubblicani e peccatori erano a tavola con Gesù e i suoi discepoli; erano molti infatti quelli che lo seguivano.
16 And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with tax collectors and sinners, said to his disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”	16 Allora gli scribi dei farisei, vedendolo mangiare con i peccatori e i pubblicani, dicevano ai suoi discepoli: «Perché mangia e beve insieme ai pubblicani e ai peccatori?».
17 Jesus, having heard this, said to them: “The healthy have no need of a doctor, but those who have maladies do. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.”	17 Udito questo, Gesù disse loro: «Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, ma i malati; io non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori».
18 And the disciples of John, and the Pharisees, were fasting. And they arrived and said to him, “Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?”	18 I discepoli di Giovanni e i farisei stavano facendo un digiuno. Vennero da lui e gli dissero: «Perché i discepoli di Giovanni e i discepoli dei farisei digiunano, mentre i tuoi discepoli non digiunano?».
19 And Jesus said to them: “How can the sons of the wedding fast while the groom is still with them? During whatever time they have the groom with them, they are not able to fast.	19 Gesù disse loro: «Possono forse digiunare gli invitati a nozze, quando lo sposo è con loro? Finché hanno lo sposo con loro, non possono digiunare.
20 But the days will arrive when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they shall fast, in those days.	20 Ma verranno giorni quando lo sposo sarà loro tolto: allora, in quel giorno, digiuneranno.
21 No one sews a patch of new cloth onto an old garment. Otherwise, the new addition pulls away from the old, and the tear becomes worse.	21 Nessuno cuce un pezzo di stoffa grezza su un vestito vecchio; altrimenti il rattoppo nuovo porta via qualcosa alla stoffa vecchia e lo strappo diventa peggiore.
22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the wineskins, and the wine will pour out, and the wineskins will be lost. Instead, new wine must be put into new wineskins.”	22 E nessuno versa vino nuovo in otri vecchi, altrimenti il vino spaccherà gli otri, e si perdono vino e otri. Ma vino nuovo in otri nuovi!».
23 And again, while the Lord was walking through the ripe grain on the Sabbath, his disciples, as they advanced, began to separate the ears of grains.	23 Avvenne che di sabato Gesù passava fra campi di grano e i suoi discepoli, mentre camminavano, si misero a cogliere le spighe.
24 But the Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbaths?”	24 I farisei gli dicevano: «Guarda! Perché fanno in giorno di sabato quello che non è lecito?».
25 And he said to them: “Have you never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry, both he and those who were with him?	25 Ed egli rispose loro: «Non avete mai letto quello che fece Davide quando si trovò nel bisogno e lui e i suoi compagni ebbero fame?
26 How he went into the house of God, under the high priest Abiathar, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful to eat, except for the priests, and how he gave it to those who were with him?”	26 Sotto il sommo sacerdote Abiatàr, entrò nella casa di Dio e mangiò i pani dell’offerta, che non è lecito mangiare se non ai sacerdoti, e ne diede anche ai suoi compagni!».
27 And he said to them: “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.	27 E diceva loro: «Il sabato è stato fatto per l’uomo e non l’uomo per il sabato!
28 And so, the Son of man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”	28 Perciò il Figlio dell’uomo è signore anche del sabato».
