Matthew 7

1 “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.	1 No juzguen, para no ser juzgados.
2 For with whatever judgment you judge, so shall you be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, so shall it be measured back to you.	2 Porque con el criterio con que ustedes juzguen se los juzgará, y la medida con que midan se usará para ustedes.
3 And how can you see the splinter in your brother’s eye, and not see the board in your own eye?	3 ¿Por qué te fijas en la paja que está en el ojo de tu hermano y no adviertes la viga que está en el tuyo?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the splinter from your eye,’ while, behold, a board is in your own eye?	4 ¿Cómo puedes decirle a tu hermano: «Deja que te saque la paja de tu ojo», si hay una viga en el tuyo?
5 Hypocrite, first remove the board from your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the board from your brother’s eye.	5 Hipócrita, saca primero la viga de tu ojo, y entonces verás claro para sacar la paja del ojo de tu hermano.
6 Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not cast your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they may trample them under their feet, and then, turning, they may tear you apart.	6 No den las cosas sagradas a los perros, ni arrojen sus perlas a los cerdos, no sea que las pisoteen y después se vuelvan contra ustedes para destrozarlos.
7 Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.	7 Pidan y se les dará; busquen y encontrarán; llamen y se les abrirá.
8 For everyone who asks, receives; and whoever seeks, finds; and to anyone who knocks, it will be opened.	8 Porque todo el que pide, recibe; el que busca, encuentra; y al que llama, se le abrirá.
9 Or what man is there among you, who, if his son were to ask him for bread, would offer him a stone;	9 ¿Quién de ustedes, cuando su hijo le pide pan, le da una piedra?
10 or if he were to ask him for a fish, would offer him a snake?	10 ¿O si le pide un pez, le da una serpiente?
11 Therefore, if you, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your sons, how much more will your Father, who is in heaven, give good things to those who ask him?	11 Si ustedes, que son malos, saben dar cosas buenas a sus hijos, ¡cuánto más el Padre celestial dará cosas buenas a aquellos que se las pidan!
12 Therefore, all things whatsoever that you wish that men would do to you, do so also to them. For this is the law and the prophets.	12 Todos los que deseen que los demás hagan por ustedes, háganlo por ellos: en esto consiste la Ley y los Profetas.
13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, which leads to perdition, and many there are who enter through it.	13 Entren por la puerta estrecha, porque es ancha la puerta y espacioso el camino que lleva a la perdición, y son muchos los que van por allí.
14 How narrow is the gate, and how straight is the way, which leads to life, and few there are who find it!	14 Pero es angosta la puerta y estrecho el camino que lleva a la Vida, y son pocos los que lo encuentran.
15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.	15 Tengan cuidado de los falsos profetas, que se presentan cubiertos con pieles de ovejas, pero por dentro son lobos rapaces.
16 You shall know them by their fruits. Can grapes be gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?	16 Por sus frutos los reconocerán. ¿Acaso se recogen uvas de los espinos o higos de los cardos?
17 So then, every good tree produces good fruit, and the evil tree produces evil fruit.	17 Así, todo árbol bueno produce frutos buenos y todo árbol malo produce frutos malos.
18 A good tree is not able to produce evil fruit, and an evil tree is not able to produce good fruit.	18 Un árbol bueno no puede producir frutos malos, ni un árbol malo, producir frutos buenos.
19 Every tree which does not produce good fruit shall be cut down and cast into the fire.	19 Al árbol que no produce frutos buenos se lo corta y se lo arroja al fuego.
20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.	20 Por sus frutos, entonces, ustedes los reconocerán.
21 Not all who say to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does the will of my Father, who is in heaven, the same shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.	21 No son los que me dicen: «Señor, Señor», los que entrarán en el Reino de los Cielos, sino los que cumplen la voluntad de mi Padre que está en el cielo.
22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and perform many powerful deeds in your name?’	22 Muchos me dirán en aquel día: «Señor, Señor, ¿acaso no profetizamos en tu Nombre? ¿No expulsamos a los demonios e hicimos muchos milagros en tu Nombre?».
23 And then will I disclose to them: ‘I have never known you. Depart from me, you workers of iniquity.’	23 Entonces yo les manifestaré: «Jamás los conocí; apártense de mí, ustedes, los que hacen el mal».
24 Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and does them shall be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock.	24 Así, todo el que escucha las palabras que acabo de decir y las pone en práctica, puede compararse a un hombre sensato que edificó su casa sobre roca.
25 And the rains descended, and the floods rose up, and the winds blew, and rushed upon that house, but it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.	25 Cayeron las lluvias, se precipitaron los torrentes, soplaron los vientos y sacudieron la casa; pero esta no se derrumbó porque estaba construida sobre roca.
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them shall be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand.	26 Al contrario, el que escucha mis palabras y no las practica, puede compararse a un hombre insensato, que edificó su casa sobre arena».
27 And the rains descended, and the floods rose up, and the winds blew, and rushed upon that house, and it did fall, and great was its ruin.”	27 Cayeron las lluvias, se precipitaron los torrentes, soplaron los vientos y sacudieron la casa: esta se derrumbó, y su ruina fue grande».
28 And it happened, when Jesus had completed these words, that the crowds were astonished at his doctrine.	28 Cuando Jesús terminó de decir estas palabras, la multitud estaba asombrada de su enseñanza,
29 For he was teaching them as one who has authority, and not like their scribes and Pharisees.	29 porque él les enseñaba como quien tiene autoridad y no como sus escribas.
