Zephaniah 2

1 Assemble, be gathered together, O people not worthy to be loved.	1 ¡Reúnanse, sí, reúnanse, gente sin vergüenza,
2 Until the decree settles accounts, the day like dust is passing away, before which the wrath of the fury of the Lord may overcome you, before which the day of the anger of the Lord may overcome you.	2 antes que sean aventados como la paja que desaparece en un día, antes que llegue sobre ustedes el ardor de la ira del Señor, antes que llegue sobre ustedes el Día de la ira del Señor!
3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth; you who have been working are his judgment. Seek the just, seek the meek. So then, in some way, you might be hidden in the day of the fury of the Lord.	3 Busquen al Señor, ustedes, todos los humildes de la tierra, los que ponen en práctica sus decretos. Busquen la justicia, busquen la humildad, tal vez así estarán protegidos en el Día de la ira del Señor.
4 For Gaza will be destroyed, and Ashkelon will be in the desert; they will expel Ashdod at midday, and Ekron will be eradicated.	4 Porque Gaza será abandonada y Ascalón quedará desolada; Asdod será expulsada en pleno día y Ecrón será arrancada de raíz.
5 Woe to you who inhabit the coast of the sea, you people of perdition. The word of the Lord is over you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines, and I will disperse you, so that not one inhabitant will be left.	5 ¡Ay de los habitantes de la liga del mar, del pueblo de los quereteos! La palabra del Señor está contra ustedes, Canaán, tierra de los filisteos: «¡Yo te haré perecer, hasta dejarte sin habitantes!».
6 And the coastline of the sea will be a resting place for shepherds and a fence line for cattle.	6 La liga del mar se convertirá en un pastizal, en campos de pastoreo y en corrales de ovejas.
7 And it will be the line of him who will remain from the house of Judah. There they will pasture. In the houses of Ashkelon, they will rest towards evening. For the Lord their God will visit them, and he will turn away their captivity.	7 Y la liga pertenecerá al resto del pueblo de Judá: apacentarán sus ganados junto al mar y al caer la tarde, descansarán en las casas de Ascalón; porque el Señor, su Dios, los visitará y cambiará su suerte.
8 I have heard about the disgrace of Moab and the blasphemies of the sons of Ammon, by which they have defamed my people and have been magnified beyond their borders.	8 Yo escuché los insultos de Moab y las injurias de los amonitas, cuando insultaron a mi pueblo y se engrandecieron a costa de su territorio.
9 Because of this, as I live, says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Moab will be like Sodom, and the sons of Ammon like Gomorrah, like the dryness of thorns, and piles of salt, and a desert, all the way to eternity. The remnant of my people will despoil them, and the residue of my nation will possess them.	9 Por eso, juro por mi vida –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel– Moab quedará como Sodoma y los amonitas como Gomorra: un campo de cardos, una mina de sal, una tierra desolada para siempre. El resto de mi pueblo los saqueará, lo que quede de mi nación los heredará.
10 This will come upon them for their arrogance, because they have blasphemed and have been magnified over the people of the Lord of hosts.	10 Eso es lo que recibirán a cambio de su orgullo, porque han insultado al pueblo del Señor de los ejércitos, y se han engrandecido a costa de él.
11 The Lord will be a horror over them, and he will reduce all the gods of the earth. And they will adore him, each man from his own place, all the islands of the Gentiles.	11 El Señor se mostrará terrible con ellos, cuando él reduzca a nada a todos los dioses de la tierra y se postren ante él, cada una en su lugar, hasta las naciones de las costas más lejanas.
12 Even so, you Ethiopians, you will be executed by my sword.	12 ¡También ustedes, cusitas, serán víctimas de mi espada!...
13 And he will extend his hand over the North, and he will destroy Assur. And he will set the Beautiful in the wilderness, and in an impassable place, and like a desert.	13 El extenderá su mano contra el Norte y hará desaparecer a Asiria; convertirá a Nínive en una desolación, en una tierra árida como el desierto.
14 And flocks will lie down in its midst, all the beasts of the Gentiles. And the pelican and the hedgehog will stay at its threshold; the voice of the singing bird will be at the window, with the crow above its threshold, for I will diminish her strength.	14 En medio de ella descansarán los rebaños, los animales de toda clase; hasta el pelícano y el erizo pasarán la noche en sus capiteles; el búho gritará en la ventana y el cuervo sobre el umbral, porque el maderaje de cedro ha sido arrancado.
15 This is the glorious city, dwelling in trust, which said in her heart, “I am and there is no one other than me.” How has she become a lair for beasts in the desert? All who pass through her will hiss and wag their hand.	15 Así quedará la ciudad feliz, la que vivía segura y decía en su corazón: «¡Yo, y nadie más que yo!». ¿Cómo es que se ha convertido en una desolación, en un refugio de animales? Todos los que pasan junto a ella, silban y hacen gestos con la mano.
