1 And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, because of his wife, an Ethiopian,	1 Maria e Aronne parlarono contro Mosè a causa della donna etiope che aveva preso, poiché aveva sposato una donna etiope.
2 and they said: “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Has he not also spoken similarly to us?” And when the Lord had heard this,	2 Dissero: "Solo con Mosè ha dunque parlato il Signore? Non ha forse parlato anche con noi?". Il Signore sentì.
3 (for Moses was a man exceedingly meek, beyond all the men who were living upon the earth)	3 Or Mosè era l'uomo più umile di tutti gli uomini che sono sulla faccia della terra.
4 immediately he spoke to him, and to Aaron and Miriam, “Go out, you three only, to the tabernacle of the covenant.” And when they had gone out,	4 Il Signore disse subito a Mosè, Aronne e Maria: "Uscite tutti e tre verso la tenda del convegno". Uscirono tutti e tre.
5 the Lord descended in a column of cloud, and he stood at the entrance of the tabernacle, calling to Aaron and Miriam. And when they had advanced,	5 Il Signore scese sulla colonna di nuvola e si tenne all'ingresso della tenda e chiamò Aronne e Maria: ambedue si fecero avanti.
6 he said to them: “Listen to my words. If there will be among you a prophet of the Lord, I will appear to him in a vision, or I will speak to him through a dream.	6 Il Signore disse: "Ascoltate bene la mia parola: se aveste un profeta del Signore, mi farei conoscere a lui in visione, parlerei a lui in sogno.
7 But it is not so with my servant Moses, who is the most faithful in all my house.	7 Ma non così con il mio servo Mosè: in tutta la mia casa, egli è il più fedele.
8 For I speak with him mouth to mouth, and plainly. And not through enigmas and figures does he perceive the Lord. Therefore, why were you not afraid to disparage my servant Moses?”	8 Parlo a lui a faccia a faccia, in visione e non in enigmi: egli contempla l'immagine del Signore. Perché dunque non avete temuto di parlare contro il mio servo Mosè?".
9 And being angry against them, he went away.	9 L'ira del Signore divampò contro di loro ed egli se ne andò.
10 Likewise, the cloud which was over the tabernacle withdrew. And behold, Miriam appeared to be white with a leprosy, like snow. And when Aaron had looked upon her, and he had seen the spreading of the leprosy,	10 La nuvola si allontanò dalla tenda, ed ecco: Maria era diventata lebbrosa, bianca come la neve. Aronne si voltò verso Maria: ed ecco era lebbrosa.
11 he said to Moses: “I beg you, my lord, not to impose upon us this sin, which we have committed foolishly.	11 Aronne disse a Mosè: "Ahimè, mio signore, non porre su di noi la pena del peccato che abbiamo insensatamente commesso:
12 Do not let this one be like one who is dead, or like an abortion that has been cast from the womb of her mother. Behold, half of her flesh is already consumed by leprosy.”	12 essa non sia come un morto all'uscita dal grembo di sua madre, per metà divorato nella sua carne".
13 And Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, I beg you: heal her.”	13 Mosè gridò verso il Signore: "O Dio, te ne prego, guariscila!".
14 And the Lord answered him: “If her father had spit on her face, should she not have been filled with shame for at least seven days? Let her be separated, outside the camp, for seven days, and after that, she will be called back.”	14 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Se suo padre le sputasse in viso, non sarebbe forse nella vergogna per sette giorni? Sia isolata sette giorni fuori dell'accampamento, e dopo sia accolta".
15 And so Miriam was excluded from the camp for seven days. And the people did not move from that place, until Miriam was called back.	15 Maria fu isolata fuori dell'accampamento sette giorni, e il popolo non partì fino a quando Maria non fu accolta.
	16 Dopo di che il popolo partì da Cazerot e posero l'accampamento nel deserto di Paran.
