Hosea 10

1 Israel is a leafy vine, its fruit has been suitable to him. According to the multitude of his fruit, he has multiplied altars; according to the fertility of his land, he has abounded with graven images.	1 Israele è stato una vigna deserta; pur nondimeno egli ha ancora portato del frutto; ma, al pari che il suo frutto ha abbondato, egli ha fatti molti altari; al pari che la sua terra ha ben risposto, egli ha adorne le statue.

3 For now they will say, “We have no king. For we do not fear the Lord. And what would a king do for us?”	3 Perciocchè ora diranno: Noi non abbiamo alcun re, perchè non abbiamo temuto il Signore; ed anche: Che ci farebbe un re?
4 You speak words about a useless vision, and you will strike a deal. And judgment will spring up like bitterness in the furrows of the field.	4 Han proferite delle parole, giurando falsamente, facendo patto; perciò, il giudicio germoglierà come tosco sopra i solchi dei campi.
5 The inhabitants of Samaria have worshipped the calf of Bethaven. For the keepers of its temple, who had exulted over it in its glory, and its people, have mourned over it because it migrated from there.	5 Gli abitanti di Samaria saranno spaventati per le vitelle di Bet-aven; perciocchè il popolo del vitello farà cordoglio di esso; e i suoi Camari, che solevano festeggiar d’esso, faranno cordoglio della sua gloria; perciocchè si sarà dipartita da lui.
6 If, indeed, it also has been offered to Assur, as a gift for the Avenging king, confusion will seize Ephraim, and Israel will be confounded by his own will.	6 Ed egli stesso sarà portato in Assiria, per presente al re protettore; Efraim riceverà vergogna, e Israele sarà confuso del suo consiglio.
7 Samaria has required her king to pass by, like foam on the face of the water.	7 Il re di Samaria perirà, come la schiuma in su l’acqua.
8 And the heights of the idol, the sin of Israel, will be utterly destroyed. The burr and the thistle will rise up over their altars. 9 From the days of Gibeah, Israel has sinned; in this, they remained firm. The battle in Gibeah against the sons of iniquity will not take hold of them.	9 O Israele, tu hai peccato da’ giorni di Ghibea; là si presentarono in battaglia, la quale non li colse in Ghibea, coi figliuoli d’iniquità.
10 According to my desire, I will correct them. And the peoples will be gathered together over them, while they are chastised for their two iniquities.	10 Io li castigherò secondo il mio desiderio; e i popoli saran radunati contro a loro, quando saranno legati a’ lor due peccati.
11 Ephraim is a heifer that has been taught to love treading out the grain, but I passed over the beauty of her neck. I will rise over Ephraim. Judah will plough; Jacob will break up the soil for himself.	11 Or Efraim è una giovenca ammaestrata, che ama di trebbiare; ma io passerò sopra la bellezza del suo collo; io farò tirar la carretta ad Efraim, Giuda arerà, Giacobbe erpicherà.
12 Sow for yourselves in justice, and harvest in the mouth of mercy; renew your fallow land. But the time when you will seek the Lord is the time when he will arrive who will teach you justice.	12 Fatevi sementa di giustizia, e mieterete ricolta di benignità; aratevi il campo novale; egli è pur tempo di cercare il Signore, finchè egli venga, e vi faccia piover giustizia.
13 You have ploughed impiety; you have harvested iniquity; you have eaten the fruit of lies. For you had confidence in your ways, in the multitude of your good fortunes.	13 Voi avete arata empietà, ed avete mietuta iniquità; voi avete mangiato il frutto di menzogna; conciossiachè tu ti sii confidato nelle tue vie, nella moltitudine de’ tuoi uomini prodi.
14 A tumult will arise among your people. And all your fortifications will be laid waste, just as Salman was destroyed by the house of him that judged Baal on the day of the battle, the mother having been crushed against her sons.	14 Perciò, si leverà uno stormo contro a’ tuoi popoli, e tutte le tue fortezze saranno distrutte; siccome Salman ha distrutto Bet-arbel, nel giorno della battaglia; la madre sarà schiacciata sopra i figliuoli.
15 So has Bethel done to you, before the face of your malicious wickedness.	15 Così vi farà Betel, per cagion della malvagità della vostra malizia; il re d’Israele perirà del tutto all’alba
