1 “ ‘For this reason, the Lord our God has fulfilled his word, which he has spoken to us, and to our judges, who have judged Israel, and to our kings, and to our leaders, and to all Israel and Judah.	1 Por eso el Señor Dios nuesro ha cumplido la palabra que había pronunciado contra nosotros, contra nuestros jueces que juzgaron a Israel, contra nuestros reyes y nuestros príncipes, contra los habitantes de Israel y de Judá.
2 And so the Lord has brought upon us great evils, such as never before happened under heaven, (but which have come to pass in Jerusalem according to what was written in the law of Moses)	2 Jamás se hizo debajo del cielo entero nada semejante a lo que hizo él en Jerusalén, conforme está escrito en la Ley de Moisés,
3 even that a man would eat the flesh of his son and the flesh of his daughter.	3 hasta el punto de que llegamos a comer uno la carne de su propio hijo, otro la carne de su propia hija.
4 And so he placed them under the hand of all the kings who surround us, in disgrace and desolation among all the people where the Lord has scattered us.	4 Y los entregó el Señor en poder de todos los reinos de nuestro alrededor para que fuesen objeto de oprobio y maldición entre todos los pueblos circundantes donde el Señor los dispersó.
5 And we were brought down low and were not raised up, because we sinned against the Lord our God, by not obeying his voice.	5 Hemos pasado a estar debajo y no encima, por haber pecado contra el Señor Dios nuestro desoyendo su voz.
6 To the Lord our God is justice, but to us and to our fathers is confusion of face, just as on this day.	6 Al Señor Dios nuestro la justicia; a nosotros y a nuestros padres la confusión del rostro, como sucede en este día.
7 For the Lord has pronounced against us all these evils, which have overcome us.	7 Lo que el Señor había dicho contra nosotros, todos esos males nos han sobrevenido.
8 And we have not beseeched the face of the Lord our God, so that we might return, each one of us from our most sinful ways.	8 Pero nosotros no hemos suplicado al rostro del Señor volviéndonos cada uno de los pensamientos de su perverso corazón.
9 And the Lord has watched over us for evil and has brought it upon us, because the Lord is just in all his works that he has commanded us,	9 Por eso el Señor ha estado atento a los males y los ha descargado el Señor sobre nosotros; porque es justo el Señor en todas las obras que nos ordenó;
10 and we have not listened to his own voice, so as to walk according to the teachings of the Lord, which he has set before our face.	10 y nosotros no hemos escuchado su voz siguiendo las órdenes que el Señor nos había puesto delante.
11 And now, O Lord God of Israel, who has led your people out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and with signs, and with wonders, and with your great power, and with an exalted arm, and has made a name for yourself, just as on this day,	11 Y ahora, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, que sacaste a tu pueblo del país de Egipto con mano fuerte, entre señales y prodigios, con gran poder y tenso brazo, haciéndote así un nombre como se ve en este día,
12 we have sinned, we become impious, we have acted unjustly, O Lord our God, against all your principles.	12 nosotros hemos pecado, hemos sido impíos, hemos cometido injusticia, Señor Dios nuestro, contra todos tus decretos.
13 May your wrath be turned away from us because, having been forsaken, we are few among the irreligious where you have scattered us.	13 Que tu furor se retire de nosotros, porque hemos quedado bien pocos entre las naciones en medio de las cuales tú nos dispersaste.
14 Heed, O Lord, our petitions and our prayers, and deliver us for your own sake, and grant that we may find favor before the face of those who have led us away,	14 Escucha, Señor, nuestra oración y nuestra súplica, líbranos por ti mismo, y haz que hallemos gracia a los ojos de los que nos deportaron,
15 so that all the earth may know that you are the Lord our God, and because your name has been invoked over Israel and over his posterity.	15 para que sepa toda la tierra que tú eres el Señor Dios nuestro y que tu Nombre se invoca sobre Israel y sobre su raza.
16 Gaze upon us, O Lord, from your holy home, and incline your ear, and heed us.	16 Mira, Señor, desde tu santa Casa y piensa en nosotros; inclina, Señor, tu oído y escucha;
17 Open your eyes and see, because the dead, who are in the underworld, whose spirit has been taken away from their vital organs, will not give honor and justification to the Lord.	17 abre, Señor, tus ojos y mira que no son los muertos en el seol, aquellos cuyo espíritu fue arrancado de sus entrañas, los que dan gloria y justicia al Señor,
18 But the soul that is sorrowful for the greatness of evil, approaches bowed down and weak, and the failing eyes and the hungering soul give glory and justice to you, the Lord.	18 sino el alma comada de aflición, el que camina encorvado y extenuado, los ojos lánguidos y el alma hambrienta, esos son los que te dan gloria y justicia, Señor.
19 For it is not according to the righteousness of our fathers that we pour out our petitions and beg mercy in your sight, O Lord our God,	19 No apoyados en las obras justas de nuestros padres y de nuestros reyes derramamos nuestra súplica de piedad ante tu rostro, oh Señor Dios nuestro.
20 but because you have sent your wrath and your fury upon us, just as you have spoken by the hand of your children the prophets, saying:	20 Porque has descargado sobre nosotros tu furor y tu ira, como habías hablado por medio de tus siervos los profetas diciendo diciendo:
21 “Thus says the Lord, ‘Bow down your shoulder and your neck, and do work for the king of Babylon, and settle in the land which I gave to your fathers,	21 «Así dice el Señor: Doblegad vuestra espalda, servid al rey de Babilonia, y os asentaréis en la tierra que yo di a vuestros padres.
22 because, if you will not listen to the voice of the Lord your God, to serve the king of Babylon, I will cause you to depart from the cities of Judah and from the gates of Jerusalem.	22 Pero si no escucháis la invitación del Señor a servir al rey de Babilonia,
23 And I will take away from you the voice of cheerfulness and the voice of joy, and the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, and all the land will be without any trace of its inhabitants.’ ”	23 yo haré cesar en las ciudades de Judá y en Jerusalén el canto de alegría y el canto de alborozo, el canto del novio y el canto de la novia, y todo el país quedará hecho un desierto, sin habitantes».
24 And they did not listen to your voice, that they should serve the king of Babylon, and so you have fulfilled your words, which you spoke by the hands of your children the prophets, so that the bones of our kings and the bones of our fathers would be carried away from their place.	24 Pero nosotros no escuchamos tu invitación de servir al rey de Babilonia, y tú entonces ha cumplido tus palabras, pronunciadas por medio de tus siervos los profetas: que los huesos de nuestros reyes y los huesos de nuestros padres serían sacados de sus sepulcros.
25 And, behold, they have been cast out into the heat of the sun and the frost of the night, and they have died by means of grievous evils, by famine, and by the sword, and by banishment.	25 Y he aquí que efectivamente yacen tirados por el suelo al calor del día y al frío de la noche; y ellos murieron en medio en medio de atroces sufrimientos,de hambre, de espada y de peste;
26 And you have set up the temple, in which your name itself was called upon, just as it is on this day, because of the iniquity of the house of Israel and the house of Judah.	26 y la Casa sobre la que se invoca tu Nombre la has reducido al estado en que se encuentra en este día, a causa de la maldad de la casa de Israel y de la casa de Judá.
27 And you have accomplished in us, O Lord our God, according to all your goodness and according to all your great mercy,	27 Sin embargo has obrado con nosotros, Señor Dios nuestro, según toda tu indulgencia y tu gran misericordia,
28 just as you spoke by the hand of your child Moses, in the day when you commanded him to write your law before the sons of Israel,	28 como habías hablado por medio de tu siervo Moisés, el día en que le ordenaste escribir tu Ley en presencia de los hijos de Israel, diciendo:
29 saying: “If you will not listen to my voice, this great multitude will be changed into the least among the peoples, where I will scatter them.	29 «Si no escucháis mi voz, esta misma grande, inmensa muchedumbre quedará reducida a un pequeño número en medio de las naciones donde yo los dispersaré.
30 For I know that the people will not listen to me, for the people are stiff necked. But they will have a change of their heart in the land of their captivity,	30 Pues bien sé que no me escucharán, porque es un pueblo de dura cerviz; pero se convertirán en sus corazones en el país de su destierro;
31 and they will know that I am the Lord their God. And I will give them a heart, and they will understand, ears, and they will hear.	31 y reconocerán entonces que yo soy el Señor su Dios. Yo les daré un corazón y unos oídos que oigan.
32 And they will praise me in the land of their captivity, and will remember my name.	32 Y ellos me alabarán en el país de su destierro, se acordarán de mi nombre,
33 And they will turn themselves away from their stiff back, and from their wicked deeds, for they will call to mind the way of their fathers, who sinned against me.	33 desistirán de su dura cerviz y de su perversa conducta acordándose de lo que les sucedió a sus padres que pecaron delante del Señor.
34 And I will restore them to the land which I pledged to their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they will rule over it, and I will multiply them, and they will not be diminished.	34 Yo les volveré a la tierra que bajo juramento prometí a sus padres, a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y tomarán posesión de ella. Los multiplicaré y ya no menguarán.
35 And I will establish for them a new and everlasting covenant, so that I will be their God and they will be my people. And I will no longer move my people, the sons of Israel, out of the land which I have given them.”	35 Y estableceré con ellos una alianza eterna de ser yo su Dios y ser ellos mi pueblo, y no volveré a arrojar ya a mi pueblo Israel de la tierra que les di».
