Jeremiah 26

1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, this word came from the Lord, saying:	1 Nel principio [del reame] dello re Ioachim, figliuolo di Iosia, re di Giuda, mi disse Dio questa parola, dicendo:
2 “Thus says the Lord: Stand in the atrium of the house of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Judah, from which they come to adore in the house of the Lord, all the words that I have commanded you to speak to them. Do not choose to subtract any word.	2 Questo dice Iddio: sta nel cammino della casa di Dio, e parlerai a tutte le cittadi di Giuda, dalle quali vegnono acciò che adorino nella casa di Dio tutti li sermoni i quali io comandai a te che tu parlassi a loro; non volere sottrarre la parola,
3 So may they hear and be converted, each one from his evil way. And then I may repent of the evil that I plan to do to them because of the wickedness of their pursuits.	3 se forse odano, e convertansi ciascuno dalla via sua rea; e io mi penta del male, il quale io penso di fare loro per la malizia de' loro studii.
4 And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord: If you will not listen to me, so that you walk in my law, which I have given to you,	4 E dirai loro: questo dice Iddio: se voi non udirete me, che voi andiate per la mia legge la quale io diedi a voi,
5 so that you listen to the words of my servants, the prophets, whom I have sent to you, who arise while it is still night, and though they give guidance, you do not listen,	5 che voi udiate le parole de' miei servi profeti, i quali io mandai a voi, levandomi di notte e dirizzandomi, e non mi udiste;
6 then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city into a curse for all the nations of the earth.”	6 io darò questa casa come Silo, e questa terra darò in maledizione a tutte le genti della terra.
7 And the priests, and the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.	7 E udirono li sacerdoti e li profeti e tutto lo populo parlare Ieremia queste parole nella casa di Dio.
8 And when Jeremiah had completed speaking all that the Lord had instructed him to speak to all the people, then the priests, and the prophets, and all the people apprehended him, saying: “You shall be put to death.”	8 E quando ebbe Ieremia compiuto di parlare tutte queste cose le quali Iddio gli avea comandato che parlasse a tutto l'universo populo, li sacerdoti e li profeti e tutto il populo pigliarono Ieremia, dicendo: sarà morto di morte.
9 “Why has he prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying: ‘Like Shiloh, so shall this house be,’ and, ‘This city shall be made desolate, even without an inhabitant?’ ” And all the people were gathered together against Jeremiah in the house of the Lord.	9 Però che profetoe nel nome di Dio, dicente: come Silo sarà questa casa, e questa città sarà desolata, però che non è chi v' abiti. E radunato fu tutto il populo contro Ieremia nella casa di Dio.
10 And the leaders of Judah heard these words. And they ascended from the house of the king to the house of the Lord, and they sat at the entrance by the new gate of the house of the Lord.	10 E udirono (tutti) li principi [di Giuda] tutte queste parole, e salirono della casa dello re nella casa del Signore, e sederono allo introito della porta nuova di Dio.
11 And the priests and the prophets spoke to the leaders and to all the people, saying: “A judgment of death is for this man. For he has prophesied against this city, just as you have heard with your own ears.”	11 E parlarono li sacerdoti e li profeti alli principi e a tutto il populo, dicenti: questo uomo sì è degno di giudicio di morte, però che profetò a questa città, sì come voi udiste colle vostre orecchie.
12 And Jeremiah spoke to all the leaders and to the entire people, saying: “The Lord has sent me to prophesy, about this house and about this city, all the words that you have heard.	12 E disse Ieremia a tutti li principi e a tutto il populo: Iddio mi mandò, ch' io profetassi a questa casa e a questa cittade tutte queste parole le quali voi udiste.
13 Now, therefore, make your ways and your intentions good, and heed the voice of the Lord your God. And then the Lord will repent of the evil that he has spoken against you.	13 Ora fate buone le vostre vie e li vostri studii, e udite la voce del vostro Signore Iddio; e Iddio si pentirae del male, del quale hae parlato incontro di voi.
14 But as for me, behold, I am in your hands. Do to me what is good and right in your eyes.	14 Ma ecco, io sono nelle vostre mani; fate di me quello che vi pare bene e diritto nelli vostri occhi.
15 Yet truly, know and understand this: if you kill me, you will be bringing innocent blood against yourselves, and against this city and its inhabitants. For in truth, the Lord sent me to you, so as to speak all these words in your hearing.”	15 Ma sappiate e cognoscete, come voi, [se] ucciderete me, tradirete lo sangue innocente contro a voi medesimi e contro a questa cittade e contro alli abitatori suoi; in veritade mi mandò Iddio a voi, acciò ch' io parlassi nelle vostre orecchie queste parole.
16 And then the leaders and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets: “There is no judgment of death against this man. For he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”	16 E dissono li principi e tutto lo populo alli sacerdoti e alli profeti: questo uomo non è degno di morte; però che hae parlato a noi nel nome del nostro Signore Iddio.
17 Then some of the elders of the land rose up. And they spoke to the entire assembly of the people, saying:	17 Allora si levarono uomini suso de' più antichi della terra, e dissono alla compagnia del populo che parlava:
18 “Micah from Moresheth was a prophet in the days of Hezekiah, the king of Judah, and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: Zion will be ploughed like a field. And Jerusalem will be a pile of stones. And the mountain of the house will be like the forests of high places.’	18 Michea di Morasti (cioè d' una contrada, il quale) fu profeta nel tempo di Ezechia, re di Giuda, e parlò a tutto il populo, dicente: questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: Sion sarà arata come lo campo, e Ierusalem sarà quasi come uno monte di pietre; e lo monte e la casa nella eccelsa parte delle selve.
19 Did the king of Judah, Hezekiah, with all of Judah, condemn him to death? Did they not fear the Lord, and petition the face of the Lord? And so the Lord repented of the evil that he had spoken against them. Therefore, we are committing a great evil against our own souls.	19 Or (non) lo condannò a morte Ezechia, re di Giuda, e tutto lo suo populo di Giuda? or non temerono Dominedio, e pregarono la faccia di Dio, e Iddio si pentio del male avea parlato contro di loro? Adunque noi facciamo male incontro alle anime nostre.
20 Likewise, there was a man prophesying in the name of the Lord: Uriah, the son of Shemaiah, of Kiriath-jearim. And he prophesied against this city and against this land, in accord with all the words of Jeremiah.	20 Anche fu uno ch' ebbe nome Uria, uomo profetante nel nome di Dio, e fu figliuolo di Semei di (una contrada che si chiama) Cariatiarim; e profetò incontro a questa cittade, e incontro a questa terra secondo le parole di Ieremia.
21 And king Jehoiakim, with all his warriors and leaders, heard these words. And so the king sought to put him to death. And Uriah heard, and was afraid, and fled, and he entered into Egypt.	21 E udio lo re Ioachim e tutti li potenti e principi suoi queste parole; e cercò lo re per ucciderlo. E Uria l'udio, e temeo, e fuggio, ed entroe in Egitto.
22 And king Jehoiakim sent men into Egypt: Elnathan, the son of Achbor, and the men who went with him into Egypt.	22 E lo re Ioachim mandò uomini in Egitto, Elnatan, figliuolo di Acobor, e altri uomini con lui in Egitto.
23 And they led Uriah out of Egypt. And they brought him to king Jehoiakim, and he struck him down with the sword. And he cast his dead body among the graves of the common people.”	23 e menaronlo allo re Ioachim; e percosselo con uno coltello, e gittò lo suo corpo nelli sepolcri del popolo ignobile, (cioè fue come in uno luogo vituperoso, quasi come carnaio).
24 But the hand of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, was with Jeremiah, so that he would not be delivered into the hands of the people, and so that they would not put him to death.	24 Adunque la mano di Aicam, figliuolo di Safan, fue con Ieremia, acciò che non fosse dato nella mano del populo, e che non lo uccidesse.
