Isaiah 19

1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the Lord will ascend upon a lofty cloud, and he will enter into Egypt, and the false images of Egypt will be moved before his face, and the heart of Egypt will waste away in its midst.	1 Oráculo contra o Egito. Eis que o Senhor, montado numa nuvem rápida, vem ao Egito. Os ídolos do Egito tremem diante dele e o Egito sente desfalecer sua coragem.
2 And I will cause Egyptian to rush against Egyptian. And they will fight: a man against his brother, and a man against his friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.	2 Excitarei os egípcios, uns contra os outros, e eles se baterão irmão contra irmão, amigo contra amigo, cidade contra cidade, reino contra reino.
3 And the spirit of Egypt will be ruptured to its very core. And I will cast down their plan violently. And they will seek answers from their false images, and their diviners, and those led by demons, and their seers.	3 O Egito perderá a cabeça, e eu abolirei sua prudência. Consultarão os ídolos e os feiticeiros, os evocadores de mortos e os adivinhos.
4 And I will deliver Egypt into the hand of cruel masters, and a strong king will dominate them, says the Lord, the God of hosts.	4 Entregarei esta terra nas mãos de um soberano cruel, um rei implacável a dominará. Oráculo do Senhor dos exércitos.
5 And the waters of the sea will dry up, and the river will be desolate and dry.	5 As águas do mar se estancarão, e o rio se tornará seco e árido.
6 And the rivers will fail. The streams of its banks will diminish and dry up. The reed and the bulrush will wither away.	6 A água estagnará nos canais, os rios do Egito diminuirão e secarão. Juncos e caniços murcharão
7 The channel of the river will be stripped down to its source, and everything irrigated by it will dry up and wither and be no more.	7 nas campinas à margem do Nilo; tudo o que cresce ao longo do rio secará, cairá e desaparecerá;
8 And the fishermen will grieve. And all who cast a hook into the river will mourn. And those who cast a net upon the surface of its waters will languish.	8 os pescadores ficarão desolados, os que lançam o anzol no rio se lamentarão, e os que lançam suas redes às águas ficarão consternados.
9 Those who work with linen, combing and weaving fine textiles, will be confounded.	9 Os que trabalham o linho ficarão decepcionados, os cardadores e os tecelães serão confundidos,
10 And its irrigated places will begin to fail, with all those who make pools to take fish.	10 os tecedores ficarão à míngua, e todos os trabalhadores em desolação.
11 The leaders of Tanis are foolish. The wise counselors of Pharaoh have given foolish counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh: “I am the son of wisemen, the son of the kings of antiquity?”	11 Os príncipes de Soã enlouquecerão, os sábios conselheiros do faraó formarão um conselho insensato. Como ousais dizer ao faraó: Eu sou filho de sábios, filho dos antigos reis?
12 Where are your wisemen now? Let them announce it to you, and let them reveal what the Lord of hosts intends for Egypt.	12 Onde estão agora os teus sábios? Que eles te anunciem e te façam saber os desígnios do Senhor dos exércitos contra o Egito!
13 The leaders of Tanis have become foolish. The leaders of Memphis have decayed. They have deceived Egypt, the corner of its people.	13 Os príncipes de Soã perdem a razão, os príncipes de Nof são iludidos; e os chefes das tribos desencaminham o Egito.
14 The Lord has mixed a spirit of giddiness into its midst. And they have caused Egypt to err in all its works, like a drunken man who staggers and vomits.	14 O Senhor difundiu entre eles um espírito de vertigem, e eles vagueiam por todo o Egito sem desígnio certo, como um bêbado que cambaleia em seu vômito.
15 And there will be no work for Egypt that would produce a head or a tail, one who bows down or one who refrains from bowing down.	15 O Egito não está em condições de decidir o que devem fazer a cabeça e a cauda, a palma e o junco.
16 In that day, Egypt will be like women, and they will be stupefied and fearful before the presence of the shaking hand of the Lord of hosts, the hand which he will move over them.	16 Naquele tempo, os egípcios serão como mulheres, tremerão de medo sob a ameaça da mão do Senhor levantada sobre eles.
17 And the land of Judah will be a dread to Egypt. Everyone who thinks about it will be terrified before the presence of the plan of the Lord of hosts, the plan which he has decided concerning them.	17 Então a terra de Judá será o terror do Egito; logo que se fale nela, ele se encherá de pavor, por causa dos desígnios que o Senhor dos exércitos formou contra ele.
18 In that day, there will be five cities in the land of Egypt which speak the language of Canaan, and which swear by the Lord of hosts. One will be called the City of the Sun.	18 Naquele tempo, haverá no Egito cinco cidades que falarão a língua de Canaã e jurarão pelo Senhor dos exércitos. Uma delas será chamada a Cidade do Sol.
19 In that day, there will be an altar of the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt and a monument of the Lord beside its borders.	19 Naquele tempo, haverá um altar erguido ao Senhor, em pleno Egito, e, em suas fronteiras, um obelisco dedicado ao Senhor.
20 This shall be a sign and a testimony to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. For they will cry out to the Lord before the face of the tribulation, and he will send them a savior and a defender who will free them.	20 E eles servirão de monumento ao Senhor na terra do Egito. Quando maltratados pelos opressores, invocarão o Senhor, e ele lhes enviará um salvador, um defensor que os libertará.
21 And the Lord will be acknowledged by Egypt, and the Egyptians will recognize the Lord in that day, and they will worship him with sacrifices and gifts. And they will make vows to the Lord, and they will fulfill them.	21 O Senhor se dará a conhecer ao Egito, os egípcios conhecerão o Senhor naquele tempo, e lhe oferecerão sacrifícios e oblações; farão votos ao Senhor e os cumprirão.
22 And the Lord will strike Egypt with a scourge, and he will heal them. And they will return to the Lord. And he will be placated toward them, and he will heal them.	22 Quando o Senhor ferir os egípcios, será para curá-los; eles se voltarão para o Senhor, que se deixará aplacar e os curará.
23 In that day, there will be a way from Egypt to the Assyrians, and the Assyrian will enter into Egypt, and the Egyptian will be with the Assyrians, and the Egyptians will serve Assur.	23 Naquele tempo, haverá um caminho do Egito para a Assíria; os assírios irão ao Egito, e os egípcios, à Assíria. O Egito e a Assíria renderão culto ao Senhor.
24 In that day, will Israel be the third to the Egyptian and the Assyrian, a blessing in the midst of the earth,	24 Naquele tempo, Israel será, como terceiro, aliado ao Egito e à Assíria, objeto da bênção no meio da terra
25 which the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying: Blessed be my people of Egypt, and the work of my hands for the Assyrian, but Israel is my inheritance.	25 Que o Senhor dos exércitos abençoará nestes termos: Bendito seja meu povo do Egito, a Assíria, obra de minhas mãos, e Israel, minha herança!
