Psalms 93

1 A Psalm of David himself. The Fourth Sabbath. The Lord is the God of retribution. The God of retribution acts in order to deliver.	1 Salmo dello stesso Davidde per il quarto giorno della settimana. Il Signore è il Dio delle vendette: il Dio delle vendette opera liberamente.
2 Lift yourself up, for you judge the earth. Repay the arrogant with retribution.	2 Da a conoscere come glorioso se' tu, o giudice della terra: rendi la loro retribuzione a' superbi.
3 How long will sinners, O Lord, how long will sinners glory?	3 Fino a quando, o Signore, fino a quando i peccatori anderanno fastosi?
4 How long will they utter and speak iniquity? How long will all who work injustice speak out?	4 Apriranno la bocca, e parleranno iniquamente, parleranno con arroganza tutti quelli, che operano l'ingiustizia?
5 They have humiliated your people, O Lord, and they have harassed your inheritance.	5 Signore, eglino hann'umiliato il tuo popolo, e hanno malmenata la tua eredità.
6 They have executed the widow and the new arrival, and they have slaughtered the orphan.	6 Hanno ucciso la vedova, e lo straniero, e messi a morte i pupilli.
7 And they have said, “The Lord will not see, nor will the God of Jacob understand.”	7 E hanno detto: il Signore non vedrà, e non se ne saprà altro il Dio di Giacobbe.
8 Understand, you senseless ones among the people. And be wise at last, you foolish ones.	8 Intendete, o i più stupidi del popolo, e voi stolti imparate una volta.
9 He who formed the ear, will he not hear? And he who forged the eye, does he not look closely?	9 Colui, che piantò l'orecchia non udirà? e quei, che lavorò l'occhio sarà senza vista?
10 He who chastises nations, he who teaches man knowledge, will he not rebuke?	10 Non vi condannerà forse colui, che gastiga le genti: che all'uomo insegna la scienza?
11 The Lord knows the thoughts of men: that these are in vain.	11 Il Signore conosce i pensieri degli uomini, e come son vani.
12 Blessed is the man whom you will instruct, O Lord. And you will teach him from your law.	12 Beato l'uomo, cui tu avrai istruito, o Signore, e cui averai tu insegnata la tua legge.
13 So may you soothe him from the evil days, until a pit may be dug for sinners.	13 Per rendere a lui men duri i giorni cattivi, sino a tanto che sia scavata la fossa pel peccatore:
14 For the Lord will not drive away his people, and he will not abandon his inheritance,	14 Imperocché il Signore non rigetterà il popol suo, e non lascerà in abbandono la sua eredità
15 even until the time when justice is being converted into judgment, and when those who are close to justice are all those who are upright of heart.	15 Fino a tanto che la giustizia venga a far giudizio, e (fino a tanto) che staran presso a lei tutti quelli, che sono di cuore retto.
16 Who will rise up with me against the malignant? Or who will stand with me against the workers of iniquity?	16 Chi si alzerà per me contro i maligni? O chi starà dalla parte mi acontro di que', che operano l'iniquità?
17 Except that the Lord assisted me, my soul almost would have dwelt in Hell.	17 Se non che il Signore mi ha aiutato, quasi quasi avrei avuto per mia stanza il sepolcro.
18 If ever I said, “My foot is slipping,” then your mercy, O Lord, assisted me.	18 Se io diceva a te: il mio piede vacilla: la tua misericordia, o Signore, veniva in mio soccorso.
19 According to the multitude of my sorrows in my heart, your consolations have given joy to my soul.	19 A proporzione de' molti dolori, che provò il cuor mio, le tue consolazioni letificarono l'anima mia.
20 Does the seat of iniquity adhere to you, you who contrive hardship within a commandment?	20 Ha forse il tribunale di iniquità qualche cosa di comune con te, che ci prepari travaglio ne' tuoi comandamenti?
21 They will hunt down the soul of the just, and they will condemn innocent blood.	21 Anderanno a caccia del giusto, e condanneranno il sangue innocente.
22 And the Lord has been made into a refuge for me, and my God into the assistance of my hope.	22 Ma il Signore è stato mio rifugio, e il mio Dio il sostegno di mia speranza.
23 And he will repay them their iniquity, and he will destroy them in their malice. The Lord our God will utterly destroy them.	23 Ed ci renderà ad essi la loro iniquità, e per la loro malizia gli sperderà: li manderà in perdizione il Signore Dio nostro.
