1 And the Lord spoke all these words:	1 Entonces pronunció Dios todas estas palabras diciendo:
2 “I am the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, out of the house of servitude.	2 «Yo, Yahveh, soy tu Dios, que te he sacado del país de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre.
3 You shall not have strange gods before me.	3 No habrá para ti otros dioses delante de mí.
4 You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor a likeness of anything that is in heaven above or on earth below, nor of those things which are in the waters under the earth.	4 No te harás escultura ni imagen alguna ni de lo que hay arriba en los cielos, ni de lo que hay abajo en la tierra, ni de lo que hay en las aguas debajo de la tierra.
5 You shall not adore them, nor shall you worship them. I am the Lord your God: strong, zealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,	5 No te postrarás ante ellas ni les darás culto, porque yo Yahveh, tu Dios, soy un Dios celoso, que castigo la iniquidad de los padres en los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que me odian,
6 and showing mercy to thousands of those who love me and keep my precepts.	6 y tengo misericordia por millares con los que me aman y guardan mis mandamientos.
7 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. For the Lord will not hold harmless one who takes the name of the Lord his God falsely.	7 No tomarás en falso el nombre de Yahveh, tu Dios; porque Yahveh no dejará sin castigo a quien toma su nombre en falso.
8 Remember that you are to sanctify the day of the Sabbath.	8 Recuerda el día del sábado para santificarlo.
9 For six days, you will work and accomplish all your tasks.	9 Seis días trabajarás y harás todos tus trabajos,
10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. You shall not do any work in it: you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, your beast and the newcomer who is within your gates.	10 pero el día séptimo es día de descanso para Yahveh, tu Dios. No harás ningún trabajo, ni tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu ganado, ni el forastero que habita en tu ciudad.
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all the things that are in them, and so he rested on the seventh day. For this reason, the Lord has blessed the day of the Sabbath and sanctified it.	11 Pues en seis días hizo Yahveh el cielo y la tierra, el mar y todo cuanto contienen, y el séptimo descansó; por eso bendijo Yahveh el día del sábado y lo hizo sagrado.
12 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may have a long life upon the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.	12 Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que se prolonguen tus días sobre la tierra que Yahveh, tu Dios, te va a dar.
13 You shall not murder.	13 No matarás.
14 You shall not commit adultery.	14 No cometerás adulterio.
15 You shall not steal.	15 No robarás.
16 You shall not speak false testimony against your neighbor.	16 No darás testimonio falso contra tu prójimo.
17 You shall not covet the house of your neighbor; neither shall you desire his wife, nor male servant, nor female servant, nor ox, nor donkey, nor anything that is his.”	17 No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo, ni codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni nada que sea de tu prójimo.»
18 Then all the people considered the voices, and the lights, and the sound of the trumpet, and the smoking mountain. And being terrified and struck with fear, they stood at a distance,	18 Todo el pueblo percibía los truenos y relámpagos, el sonido de la trompeta y el monte humeante, y temblando de miedo se mantenía a distancia.
19 saying to Moses: “Speak to us, and we will listen. Let not the Lord speak to us, lest perhaps we may die.”	19 Dijeron a Moisés: «Habla tú con nosotros, que podremos entenderte, pero que no hable Dios con nosotros, no sea que muramos.»
20 And Moses said to the people: “Do not be afraid. For God came in order to test you, and so that the dread of him might be with you, and you would not sin.”	20 Respondió Moisés al pueblo: «No temáis, pues Dios ha venido para poneros a prueba, para que su temor esté ante vuestros ojos, y no pequéis».
21 And the people stood far away. But Moses approached toward the mist, in which was God.	21 Y el pueblo se mantuvo a distancia, mientras Moisés se acercaba a la densa nube donde estaba Dios.
22 Thereafter, the Lord said to Moses: “This you shall say to the sons of Israel: You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.	22 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: Así dirás a los israelitas: Vosotros mismos habéis visto que os he hablado desde el cielo.
23 You shall not make gods of silver, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.	23 No haréis junto a mí dioses de plata, ni os haréis dioses de oro.
24 You shall make an altar from the earth for me, and you shall offer upon it your holocausts and peace-offerings, your sheep and oxen, in every place where the memory of my name shall be. I will come to you, and I will bless you.	24 Hazme un altar de tierra para ofrecer sobre él tus holocaustos y tus sacrificios de comunión, tus ovejas y tus bueyes. En todo lugar donde haga yo memorable mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.
25 And if you make an altar of stone for me, you shall not build it from cut stones; for if you lift up a tool over it, it will be defiled.	25 Y si me haces un altar de piedra, no lo edificarás de piedras labradas; porque al alzar tu cincel sobre ella queda profanada.
26 You shall not ascend by steps to my altar, lest your nakedness be revealed.”	26 Tampoco subirás por gradas a mi altar, para que no se descubra tu desnudez sobre él.
