1 And Eliashib, the great priest, rose up, with his brothers, the priests, and they built the gate of the flock. 	34 Testvérei meg a szamaritánusok hadserege előtt ugyanis ilyeneket mondott: »Mit művelnek itt ezek a gyámoltalan zsidók? Eltűrik-e ezt a népek? Talán még ma áldozni akarnak és készen kívánnak lenni? Vajon fel tudják-e ismét építeni a porhalomból az elégett kőfalakat?«
	35 Mellette pedig az ammonita Tóbiás így beszélt: »Csak hadd építsenek! Hiszen, ha egy róka ráugrik, ledönti a kőfalukat.«
	36 Halld csak Istenünk, mennyire megvetnek minket! Fordítsd vissza fejükre gyalázkodásukat! Tedd, hogy megvessék őket a rabság földjén.
	37 Ne takard el gonoszságukat és ne engedd, hogy bűnüket eltöröljék színed elől, mert kigúnyolták azokat, akik építkeznek.
	38 Mi azonban tovább építettük a falat és félmagasságig kijavítottuk az egészet. A nép ugyanis lelkesen nekilátott a munkának.
