2 Samuel 16

1 And when David had passed a little beyond the top of the mountain, Ziba, the servant of Mephibosheth, appeared to meet him, with two donkeys, which were burdened with two hundred loaves, and one hundred bunches of dried grapes, and one hundred masses of dried figs, and a skin of wine.	1 David acababa de pasar la cumbre, cuando le salió al encuentro Sibá, el servidor de Meribaal, con un par de asnos ensillados y cargados con doscientos panes, cien racimos de pasas de uva, cien frutas frescas y un odre de vino.
2 And the king said to Ziba, “What do you intend to do with these things?” And Ziba responded: “The donkeys are for the household of the king, so that they may sit. And the loaves and dried figs are for your servants to eat. But the wine is for anyone to drink who may be faint in the desert.”	2 El rey dijo a Sibá: «¿Qué vas a hacer con eso?». Sibá respondió: «Los asnos servirán de cabalgadura a la familia del rey; el pan y la fruta son para que coman los jóvenes, y el vino, para que beban los que desfallezcan en el desierto».
3 And the king said, “Where is the son of your lord?” And Ziba answered the king: “He remained in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Today, the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’ ”	3 El rey le preguntó: «¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor?». Sibá respondió al rey: «Se ha quedado en Jerusalén, diciendo: «Hoy la casa de Israel me devolverá el reino de mi padre».
4 And the king said to Ziba, “All the things which were for Mephibosheth are now yours.” And Ziba said, “I beg you that I may find grace before you, my lord the king.”	4 El rey dijo a Sibá: «Desde ahora te pertenecen todos los bienes de Meribaal». Sibá respondió: «¡A tus pies! ¡Quiera mi señor, el rey, dispensarme siempre su favor!».
5 Then king David went as far as Bahurim. And behold, a man from the kindred of the house of Saul, named Shimei, the son of Gera, went out from there. And going out, he continued on, and he was cursing,	5 Cuando el rey llegaba a Bajurím salió de allí un hombre del mismo clan que la casa de Saúl, llamado Simei, hijo de Guerá. Mientras salía, iba lanzando maldiciones,
6 and throwing stones against David and against all the servants of king David. And all the people and all the warriors were traveling to the right and to the left sides of the king.	6 y arrojaba piedras contra David y contra sus servidores, a pesar de que todo el pueblo y todos los guerreros marchaban a la derecha y a la izquierda del rey.
7 And so, as he was cursing the king, Shimei said: “Go away, go away, you man of blood, and you man of Belial!	7 Y al maldecirlo, decía: «¡Fuera, fuera, hombre sanguinario y canalla!
8 The Lord has repaid you for all the blood of the house of Saul. For you have usurped the kingdom in place of him. And so, the Lord has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom, your son. And behold, your evils press close upon you, because you are a man of blood.”	8 El Señor hace recaer sobre ti toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, a quien tú has usurpado el reino. ¡El Señor ha puesto la realeza en manos de tu hijo Absalón, mientras que tú has caído en desgracia, porque eres un sanguinario!».
9 Then Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, said to the king: “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go and cut off his head.”	9 Abisai, hijo de Seruiá, dijo al rey: «¿Cómo ese perro muerto va a maldecir a mi señor, el rey? ¡Deja que me cruce y le cortaré la cabeza!».
10 And the king said: “What is it to me and to all of you, O sons of Zeruiah? Permit him, so that he may curse. For the Lord has commanded him to curse David. And who is the one who would dare to say, ‘Why has he done so?’ ”	10 Pero el rey replicó: «¿Qué tengo que ver yo con ustedes, hijos de Seruiá? Si él maldice, es porque el Señor le ha dicho: «¡Maldice a David!». ¿Quién podrá entonces reprochárselo?».
11 And the king said to Abishai and to all his servants: “Behold, my son, who went forth from my loins, is seeking my life. How much more does a son of Benjamin do so now? Permit him, so that he may curse, in accord with the command of the Lord.	11 Luego David dijo a Abisai y a todos sus servidores: «Si un hijo mío, nacido de mis entrañas, quiere quitarme la vida, ¡cuánto más este benjaminita! Déjenlo que maldiga, si así se lo ha dicho el Señor.
12 Perhaps the Lord may look with favor upon my affliction, and the Lord may repay me good, in place of the cursing of this day.”	12 Quizá el Señor mire con humillación y me devuelve la felicidad, a cambio de esta maldición que hoy recibo de él».
13 And so, David continued walking along the way, and his associates with him. But Shimei was advancing along the ridge of the mountain on the side opposite him, cursing and throwing stones at him, and scattering dirt.	13 David siguió con sus hombres por el camino, mientras Simei iba por la ladera de la montaña, al costo de él; y a medida que avanzaba, profería maldiciones, arrojaba piedras y levantaba polvo.
14 And the king and the entire people with him, being weary, went and refreshed themselves there.	14 David y su gente llegaron rendidos, y allí retomaron aliento.
15 But Absalom and all his people entered into Jerusalem. Moreover, Ahithophel was with him.	15 Mientras tanto, Absalón había entrado en Jerusalén con todos los hombres de Israel, y Ajitófel lo acompañaba.
16 And when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, had gone to Absalom, he said to him: “May you be well, O king! May you be well, O king!”	16 Cuando Jusai, el arquita, el amigo de David, llegó a donde estaba Absalón, le dijo: «¡Viva el rey! ¡Viva el rey!».
17 And Absalom said to him: “Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”	17 Pero Absalón replicó a Jusai: «¿Esa es tu lealtad hacia tu amigo? ¿Por qué no te has ido con él?».
18 And Hushai responded to Absalom: “By no means! For I will be his, whom the Lord has chosen. And I, and all this people, and all of Israel, will remain with him.	18 Entonces Jusai dijo a Absalón» «¡No, de ninguna manera! Yo estoy con aquel a quien ha elegido el Señor, y también esta gente y todos los hombres de Israel. ¡Con él me quedaré!
19 But then too, I declare this: whom should I serve? Is it not the son of the king? Just as I have been subject to your father, so will I be subject to you also.”	19 Después de todo, ¿a quién voy a servir? ¿No es acaso a su hijo? Como estuve al servicio de tu padre, así te servirá a ti».
20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Present a counsel as to what we ought to do.”	20 Luego Absalón dijo a Ajitófel: «¡Deliberen a ver qué nos conviene hacer!».
21 And Ahithophel said to Absalom: “Enter to the concubines of your father, whom he left behind in order to care for the house. Thus, when all of Israel will hear that you disgraced your father, their hands may be strengthened with you.”	21 Ajitófel dijo a Absalón: «Unete a las concubinas que dejó tu padre al cuidado de su casa. Así todo Israel sabrá que has roto con tu padre, y tus partidarios se sentirán fortalecidos».
22 Therefore, they spread a tent for Absalom on the rooftop. And he entered to the concubines of his father in the sight of all Israel.	22 Entonces le instalaron a Absalón una carpa en la azotea, y él se unió a las concubinas de su padre, a la vista de todo Israel.
23 Now the counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was treated as if one were consulting God. So was every counsel of Ahithophel, both when he was with David, and when he was with Absalom.	23 En aquella época, se buscaba el consejo de Ajitófel como un oráculo divino: tal era la estima que tenían por sus consejos tanto David como Absalón.
