1 And the Lord said to him: “Enter the ark, you and all your house. For I have seen you to be just in my sight, within this generation.	1 Yahvé dit à Noé: “Entre dans l’arche, toi et toute ta famille, car tu es le seul juste que j’aie vu dans la génération que j’ai sous les yeux.
2 From all the clean animals, take seven and seven, the male and the female. Yet truly, from animals that are unclean, take two and two, the male and the female.	2 Tu prendras avec toi, de tous les animaux purs, sept paires, le mâle avec sa femelle, et de tous les animaux qui ne sont pas purs, une paire, le mâle avec sa femelle.
3 But also from the birds of the air, take seven and seven, the male and the female, so that offspring may be saved upon the face of the whole earth.	3 De même pour les oiseaux du ciel, sept paires, mâle et femelle, pour conserver leur race sur la surface de la terre.
4 For from that point, and after seven days, I will rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights. And I will wipe away every substance that I have made, from the surface of the earth.”	4 Car encore sept jours et je ferai pleuvoir sur la terre pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits. Je supprimerai de la surface de la terre tous les êtres que j’ai faits”.
5 Therefore, Noah did all things just as the Lord had commanded him.	5 Noé fit tout ce que Yahvé lui avait ordonné.
6 And he was six hundred years old when the waters of the great flood inundated the earth.	6 Noé avait 600 ans lorsque le déluge des eaux commença à inonder la terre.
7 And Noah entered into the ark, and his sons, his wife, and the wives of his sons with him, because of the waters of the great flood.	7 Noé entra donc dans l’arche avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils pour échapper aux eaux du déluge.
8 And from the animals both clean and unclean, and from the birds, and from everything that moves upon the earth,	8 Des animaux purs et des animaux qui ne sont pas purs, des oiseaux et de tous les reptiles de la terre,
9 two by two they were brought into the ark to Noah, male and female, just as the Lord had instructed Noah.	9 il en vint vers Noé dans l’arche, deux par deux, mâle et femelle, selon ce que Dieu avait ordonné à Noé.
10 And when seven days had passed, the waters of the great flood inundated the earth.	10 Et au bout de sept jours, les eaux du déluge inondèrent la terre.
11 In the six hundredth year of the life of Noah, in the second month, in the seventeenth day of the month, all the fountains of the great abyss were released, and the floodgates of heaven were opened.	11 C’était la six-centième année de la vie de Noé, le dix-septième jour du deuxième mois. En ce jour-là, toutes les fontaines du fond de la mer jaillirent, et les écluses du ciel s’ouvrirent:
12 And rain came upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.	12 la pluie allait tomber sur terre pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits.
13 On the very same day, Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and his wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark.	13 Ce jour-là, Noé entra dans l’arche avec ses fils Sem, Kam et Japhet, avec sa femme et les trois femmes de ses fils.
14 They and every animal according to its kind, and all the cattle in their kind, and everything that moves upon the earth in their kind, and every flying thing according to its kind, all the birds and all that can fly,	14 Avec eux entrèrent aussi toutes les bêtes selon leur espèce, tous les animaux des champs selon leur espèce, tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre selon leur espèce, et tous les oiseaux et tout ce qui vole, chacun selon leur espèce.
15 entered the ark to Noah, two by two out of all that is flesh, in which there was the breath of life.	15 Ils arrivaient auprès de Noé dans l’arche, deux par deux, de toutes les espèces.
16 And those that entered went in male and female, from all that is flesh, just as God had instructed him. And then the Lord closed him in from the outside.	16 Ils entraient, le mâle avec sa femelle, il en arrivait de chaque espèce selon l’ordre de Dieu. Et puis Yahvé ferma la porte derrière Noé.
17 And the great flood occurred for forty days upon the earth. And the waters were increased, and they lifted the ark high above the land.	17 Le déluge dura quarante jours sur la terre; les eaux montèrent, elles soulevèrent l’arche qui s’éleva au-dessus de la terre.
18 For they overflowed greatly, and they filled everything on the surface of the earth. And then the ark was carried across the waters.	18 Les eaux grossirent, grossirent encore sur la terre et l’arche allait sur la surface des eaux.
19 And the waters prevailed beyond measure across the earth. And all the lofty mountains under the whole heaven were covered.	19 Les eaux continuèrent de grossir, toujours et encore au-dessus de la terre, et toutes les hautes montagnes qui sont sous le ciel furent recouvertes.
20 The water was fifteen cubits higher than the mountains which it covered.	20 Les eaux montèrent encore de 15 coudées quand toutes les montagnes étaient déjà recouvertes.
21 And all flesh was consumed which moved upon the earth: flying things, animals, wild beasts, and all moving things that crawl upon the ground. And all men,	21 Tous les êtres vivants de la terre périrent: oiseaux, animaux des champs, bêtes sauvages, tout ce qui vivait et bougeait sur la terre, ainsi que tous les hommes.
22 and everything in which there is the breath of life on earth, died.	22 Tout ce qui avait un souffle de vie dans les narines, tout ce qui existait sur la terre ferme mourut.
23 And he wiped away all substance that was upon the earth, from man to animal, the crawling things just as much as the flying things of the air. And they were wiped away from the earth. But only Noah remained, and those who were with him in the ark.	23 Alors tous les êtres qui se trouvaient sur la surface de la terre disparurent. Depuis les hommes jusqu’aux animaux des champs, jusqu’aux reptiles et aux oiseaux du ciel: ils disparurent de la terre. Il ne resta plus que Noé et ceux qui étaient avec lui dans l’arche.
24 And the waters possessed the earth for one hundred and fifty days.	24 Les eaux recouvrirent ainsi la terre pendant 150 jours.
