1 In the beginning, God created heaven and earth.	1 Nel principio creò Iddio lo cielo e la terra.
2 But the earth was empty and unoccupied, and darknesses were over the face of the abyss; and so the Spirit of God was brought over the waters.	2 Ma la terra era vana e vota, e le tenebre erano sopra la faccia dell' abisso, e lo spirito di Dio era portato sopra l'acque.
3 And God said, “Let there be light.” And light became.	3 Disse Iddio: sia fatta la luce, e fatta è la luce.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and so he divided the light from the darknesses.	4 E Iddio vide che la luce era buona, e sì divise la luce dalle tenebre
5 And he called the light, ‘Day,’ and the darknesses, ‘Night.’ And it became evening and morning, one day.	5 Ed appelloe la luce Die, e le tenebre Notte; e tra il vespro e la mattina, lo di uno e primo.
6 God also said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide waters from waters.”	6 In verità Iddio disse: sia fatto lo firmamento nel mezzo dell' acque, e dividansi l'acque dall'acque.
7 And God made a firmament, and he divided the waters that were under the firmament, from those that were above the firmament. And so it became.	7 E fatto è il firmamento; e Dio divise l'acque, le quali erano sotto il firmamento, da quelle ch' erano sopra il firmamento; e fatto è così.
8 And God called the firmament ‘Heaven.’ And it became evening and morning, the second day.	8 E chiamò Iddio lo firmamento Cielo; e fatto è, tra lo vespro e la mattina, lo di secondo.
9 Truly God said: “Let the waters that are under heaven be gathered together into one place; and let the dry land appear.” And so it became.	9 Disse in verità Iddio: raguninsi l'acque, le quali sono sotto lo cielo, in uno loco, ed apparisca l'arida; e fatto è così.
10 And God called the dry land, ‘Earth,’ and he called the gathering of the waters, ‘Seas.’ And God saw that it was good.	10 E sì chiamoe Iddio l'arida, Terra, e le congregazioni dell' acque chiamò Mari; e questo vide Iddio ch' era buono.
11 And he said, “Let the land spring forth green plants, both those producing seed, and fruit-bearing trees, producing fruit according to their kind, whose seed is within itself, over all the earth.” And so it became.	11 E sì disse: germini la terra, erba verde fa cendo lo seme, ed il legno pomifero facendo frutto, secondo la generazione sua in sè stesso; il seme del quale in sempiterno sia sopra la terra. E fatto è così.
12 And the land brought forth green plants, both those producing seed, according to their kind, and trees producing fruit, with each having its own way of sowing, according to its species. And God saw that it was good.	12 E la terra menoe erba verzicante e facendo seme secondo la sua generazione, ed il legno facendo frutto, ed avendo ciascuno il seme secondo la specie sua. Vide Iddio che questo era buono.
13 And it became evening and the morning, the third day.	13 E fatto è, tra il vespro e la mattina, lo di terzo.
14 Then God said: “Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven. And let them divide day from night, and let them become signs, both of the seasons, and of the days and years.	14 Disse ancora Iddio: sia fatto i luminari nel firmamento del cielo, e dividano il dì dalla notte; sieno in segni i tempi, i dì e gli anni,
15 Let them shine in the firmament of heaven and illuminate the earth.” And so it became.	15 acciò che lucano nel firmamento del cielo, ed illuminano la terra. E fatto è così.
16 And God made two great lights: a greater light, to rule over the day, and a lesser light, to rule over the night, along with the stars.	16 Fece Iddio due grandi luminari maggiori; acciò che soprastasse il dì, uno maggiore luminare, cioè il sole; ed il luminare minore, cioè la luna, che soprastesse alla notte e alle stelle.
17 And he set them in the firmament of heaven, to give light over all the earth,	17 E sì li pose nel firmamento del cielo, acciò che lucessero sopra la terra,
18 and to rule over the day as well as the night, and to divide light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.	18 e dividessero la luce dalle tenebre; e divisero la luce dalle tenebre. E vide Iddio ch' era buono questo.
19 And it became evening and morning, the fourth day.	19 E fatto è, tra il vespro e la mattina, lo di quarto.
20 And then God said, “Let the waters produce animals with a living soul, and flying creatures above the earth, under the firmament of heaven.”	20 Disse ancora Iddio: menino l'acque li rettili dell' anime viventi, e le cose che volino sopra la terra sotto il firmamento del cielo.
21 And God created the great sea creatures, and everything with a living soul and the ability to move that the waters produced, according to their species, and all the flying creatures, according to their kind. And God saw that it was good.	21 E creoe Iddio le balene grandissime ed ogni anima vivente e mutevole, la quale avea prodotto l'acqua nelle specie sue, e ogni cosa volatile secondo il suo essere e sua generazione. Adunque vide Iddio che era buono.
22 And he blessed them, saying: “Increase and multiply, and fill the waters of the sea. And let the birds be multiplied above the land.”	22 E sì benedisse loro dicendo: crescete e moltiplicate e rempiete l'acque del mare; ma gli uccelli moltiplichino sopra la terra.
23 And it became evening and morning, the fifth day.	23 E fatto è, tra lo vespro e la mattina, lo dì quinto.
24 God also said, “Let the land produce living souls in their kind: cattle, and animals, and wild beasts of the earth, according to their species.” And so it became.	24 Disse in verità Iddio: produchi la terra l'anima vivente, nella sua generazione ciascuna, le bestie della terra secondo le specie loro; e fatto è così.
25 And God made the wild beasts of the earth according to their species, and the cattle, and every animal on the land, according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.	25 Fece Iddio le bestie della terra secondo la qualità loro, ed i giumenti e tutti li rettili della terra nella generazione sua. Ancora vide Iddio che era buono.
26 And he said: “Let us make Man to our image and likeness. And let him rule over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and the wild beasts, and the entire earth, and every animal that moves on the earth.”	26 E disse: facciamo l'uomo alla imagine ed alla similitudine nostra; e soprastea a' pesci del mare e agli uccelli del cielo volatili, e a tutte le bestie e a ciascuna creatura, a tutti li rettili (ferucole) che si muovono nella terra.
27 And God created man to his own image; to the image of God he created him; male and female, he created them.	27 E creò Iddio l'uomo alla imagine sua; ed alla imagine di Dio creollo, maschio e femina.
28 And God blessed them, and he said, “Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”	28 E benedisse loro Iddio, dicendo: crescete e moltiplicate e rempiete la terra, e soprastate a lei, e signorizzate i pesci delle acque e gli uccelli del cielo, e tutte le cose che hanno anima, le quali si muovono sopra la terra.
29 And God said: “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant upon the earth, and all the trees that have in themselves the ability to sow their own kind, to be food for you,	29 Disse ancora Iddio: ecco io vi ho dato tutte le erbe producenti il seme sopra la terra; e tutti quanti i legni che hanno in sè medesimi semente, ciascuno di sua generazione, acciò che a voi siano esca,
30 and for all the animals of the land, and for all the flying things of the air, and for everything that moves upon the earth and in which there is a living soul, so that they may have these on which to feed.” And so it became.	30 e a tutti gli animali della terra, e ad ogni uccello del cielo e a tutte le cose che si muovono nella terra, e nelle quali è anima vivente, acciò ch' elle abbiano di che vivere; e fatto è così.
31 And God saw everything that he had made. And they were very good. And it became evening and morning, the sixth day.	31 E vidde Iddio tutte quelle cose le quali avea fatto, ch' erano molto buone. E fatto è, tra il vespro e la mattina, lo di sesto (cioè lo venerdì).
