2 Corinthians 7

1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.	1 Ya que poseemos estas promesas, queridos hermanos, purifiquémonos de todo lo que mancha el cuerpo o el espíritu, llevando a término la obra de nuestra santificación en el temor de Dios.
2 Make room for us; we have not wronged anyone, or ruined anyone, or taken advantage of anyone.	2 Háganme un lugar en sus corazones. Nosotros no hemos perjudicado ni arruinado ni explotado a nadie.
3 I do not say this in condemnation, for I have already said that you are in our hearts, that we may die together and live together.	3 No digo esto para condenarlos: como ya les dije, ustedes están en mi corazón, unidos en la vida y en la muerte.
4 I have great confidence in you, I have great pride in you; I am filled with encouragement, I am overflowing with joy all the more because of all our affliction.	4 Yo siempre les hablo con toda franqueza y tengo sobrados motivos para gloriarme de ustedes. Esto me llena de consuelo y me da una inmensa alegría en medio de todas las tribulaciones.
5 For even when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted in every way--external conflicts, internal fears.	5 Cuando llegamos a Macedonia, no tuvimos descanso. De todas partes nos acosaban las tribulaciones: luchas por fuera y temores por dentro.
6 But God, who encourages the downcast, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus,	6 Pero Dios, que consuela a los afligidos, nos consoló con la llegada de Tito,
7 and not only by his arrival but also by the encouragement with which he was encouraged in regard to you, as he told us of your yearning, your lament, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.	7 y no sólo con su llegada, sino también con el consuelo que ustedes le prodigaron. El nos habló del profundo afecto, del dolor y de la preocupación que ustedes sienten por mí, con lo cual me alegré más todavía.
8 For even if I saddened you by my letter, I do not regret it; and if I did regret it ((for) I see that that letter saddened you, if only for a while),	8 Porque, si bien es verdad que los entristecí con mi carta, no me lamento de haberlo hecho. Si antes lo lamenté –al saber que aquella carta, aunque sólo fuera momentáneamente, los entristeció–
9 I rejoice now, not because you were saddened, but because you were saddened into repentance; for you were saddened in a godly way, so that you did not suffer loss in anything because of us.	9 ahora me regocijo, no porque ustedes se hayan puesto tristes, sino porque esa tristeza fue motivo de arrepentimiento. Ustedes, en efecto, han experimentado la tristeza que proviene de Dios, de manera que nosotros no les hemos hecho ningún daño.
10 For godly sorrow produces a salutary repentance without regret, but worldly sorrow produces death.	10 Esa tristeza produce un arrepentimiento que lleva a la salvación y no se debe lamentar; en cambio, la tristeza del mundo produce la muerte.
11 For behold what earnestness this godly sorrow has produced for you, as well as readiness for a defense, and indignation, and fear, and yearning, and zeal, and punishment. In every way you have shown yourselves to be innocent in the matter.	11 Fíjense bien lo que ha producido en ustedes la tristeza que proviene de Dios. ¡Cuánta solicitud! ¿Qué digo? ¡Cuántas excusas! ¡Qué indignación! ¡Qué temor! ¡Cuántos deseos ardientes! ¡Qué preocupación! ¡Qué castigo ejemplar! De todas las maneras posibles, ustedes han demostrado que son inocentes en este asunto.
12 So then even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did the wrong, or on account of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your concern for us might be made plain to you in the sight of God.	12 En realidad, yo no les escribí a causa del ofensor, ni siquiera a causa del ofendido, sino para que se ponga de manifiesto, delante de Dios, la solicitud que ustedes tienen por nosotros.
13 For this reason we are encouraged. And besides our encouragement, we rejoice even more because of the joy of Titus, since his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.	13 Esto nos ha servido de consuelo; y a este consuelo personal, se agregó una alegría mucho mayor todavía: la de ver el gozo de Tito, después que fue tranquilizado por ustedes.
14 For if I have boasted to him about you, I was not put to shame. No, just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting before Titus proved to be the truth.	14 Y si delante de él me glorié un poco de ustedes, no me avergüenzo de ello. Todo lo contrario, de la misma manera que siempre les he dicho la verdad, también en esta ocasión se comprobó que era legítimo el orgullo que sentí por ustedes delante de Tito.
15 And his heart goes out to you all the more, as he remembers the obedience of all of you, when you received him with fear and trembling.	15 Y el afecto que él les tiene se acrecienta cuando recuerda la obediencia, el respeto y la reverencia con que lo recibieron.
16 I rejoice, because I have confidence in you in every respect.	16 Por eso me alegro de poder confiar plenamente en ustedes.
