1 While they were in Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses on the pretext of the marriage he had contracted with a Cushite woman.	1 Miryam et Aaron murmurèrent contre Moïse parce qu’il avait pris une femme Kouchite (il avait en effet épousé une femme du pays de Kouch).
2 They complained, "Is it through Moses alone that the LORD speaks? Does he not speak through us also?" And the LORD heard this.	2 “Est-ce que Yahvé, dirent-ils, ne parlerait que par Moïse? N’a-t-il pas aussi parlé par nous?” Yahvé l’entendit.
3 Now, Moses himself was by far the meekest man on the face of the earth.	3 Or Moïse était un homme très humble. Il n’y avait pas plus humble que lui sur toute la terre.
4 So at once the LORD said to Moses and Aaron and Miriam, "Come out, you three, to the meeting tent." And the three of them went.	4 Soudain Yahvé dit à Moïse, à Aaron et à Miryam: “Sortez du camp tous les trois et allez à la Tente du Rendez-Vous!” Ils sortirent donc tous les trois.
5 Then the LORD came down in the column of cloud, and standing at the entrance of the tent, called Aaron and Miriam. When both came forward,	5 Alors Yahvé descendit dans la colonne de nuée et se tint à l’entrée de la Tente. Il appela Aaron et Miryam qui s’avancèrent tous les deux.
6 he said, "Now listen to the words of the LORD: Should there be a prophet among you, in visions will I reveal myself to him, in dreams will I speak to him;	6 Puis Yahvé leur dit: “Écoutez bien mes paroles: S’il y a parmi vous un prophète, je me manifeste à lui à travers des visions, je ne lui parle qu’en songes.
7 Not so with my servant Moses! Throughout my house he bears my trust:	7 Il n’en va pas de même pour mon serviteur Moïse; je lui ai confié toute ma Maison
8 face to face I speak to him, plainly and not in riddles. The presence of the LORD he beholds. Why, then, did you not fear to speak against my servant Moses?"	8 et je lui parle face à face. C’est la claire vision, non pas des énigmes; lui contemple l’image de Yahvé. “Comment donc n’avez-vous pas craint de parler contre mon serviteur, contre Moïse?”
9 So angry was the LORD against them that when he departed,	9 La colère de Yahvé s’enflamma contre eux et il se retira.
10 and the cloud withdrew from the tent, there was Miriam, a snow-white leper! When Aaron turned and saw her a leper,	10 Lorsque la nuée se retira d’au-dessus de la Tente, Miryam avait la lèpre: sa peau était blanche comme la neige. Aaron se tourna vers Miryam, elle était lépreuse!
11 "Ah, my lord!" he said to Moses, "please do not charge us with the sin that we have foolishly committed!	11 Alors Aaron dit à Moïse: “Je t’en supplie mon seigneur, ne nous fais pas payer ce péché, cette folie qui nous a pris.
12 Let her not thus be like the stillborn babe that comes forth from its mother's womb with its flesh half consumed."	12 Qu’elle ne soit pas comme l’avorton dont le corps est à moitié ravagé, à peine sorti du sein de sa mère.”
13 Then Moses cried to the LORD, "Please, not this! Pray, heal her!"	13 Alors Moïse supplia Yahvé: “Je t’en supplie, arrête! Guéris-la!”
14 But the LORD answered Moses, "Suppose her father had spit in her face, would she not hide in shame for seven days? Let her be confined outside the camp for seven days; only then may she be brought back."	14 Mais Yahvé répondit à Moïse: “Si son père lui crachait au visage, elle devrait se cacher de honte durant sept jours. Qu’elle soit donc exclue du camp pour sept jours, après quoi elle reviendra.”
15 So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not start out again until she was brought back.	15 Miryam fut donc exclue du camp durant sept jours, et le peuple ne partit que lorsque Miryam fut revenue.
16 After that the people set out from Hazeroth and encamped in the desert of Paran.	16 Alors le peuple partit de Hasérot et campa dans le désert de Paran.
