Jeremiah 9

1 Would that I had in the desert a travelers' lodge! That I might leave my people and depart from them. They are all adulterers, a faithless band.	1 Or chi darà acqua al mio capo, e una fonte di lacrime alli miei occhi? e piagnerò di dì e di notte li uccisi della figliuola del populo mio.
2 They ready their tongues like a drawn bow; with lying, and not with truth, they hold forth in the land. They go from evil to evil, but me they know not, says the LORD.	2 Chi mi porrà in uno deserto di diversi andatori? e abbandonerò lo populo mio, e partirommi da loro; però che tutti sono operatori d' adulterio, e (le) compagnie di prevaricatori.
3 Be on your guard, everyone against his neighbor; put no trust in any brother. Every brother apes Jacob, the supplanter, every friend is guilty of slander.	3 E stesono la loro lingua quasi come uno arco di bugia, e non di verità; confortati sono in terra, per ciò che di male in male sono andati, e non conobbono me, dice Iddio.
4 Each one deceives the other, no one speaks the truth. They have accustomed their tongues to lying, and are perverse, and cannot repent.	4 Ciascuno si guardi dal suo prossimo, e in ogni suo fratello non abbi speranza; però che ogni fratello sottomettendo sottometterà, e ogni amico. anderà con inganni.
5 Violence upon violence, deceit upon deceit: They refuse to recognize me, says the LORD.	5 E l'uomo del suo fratello farassene beffe, e non parlerà verità; hanno ammaestrato la loro lingua a parole bugiarde, e affaticaronsi per (fare e) adoperare malvagiamente.
6 Therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: I will smelt them and test them; how else should I deal with their wickedness?	6 ...
7 A murderous arrow is his tongue, his mouth utters deceit; He speaks cordially with his friends, but in his heart he lays an ambush!	7 Però questo dice lo Signore Iddio delli esèrciti: ecco io fonderò, e proverò voi; or che altro farò io dalla faccia [della figliuola] del mio populo?
8 For these things, says the LORD, shall I not punish them? On a nation such as this shall I not take vengeance?	8 Saetta ferente la lingua loro (la lingua) hae parlato inganno; nella sua bocca parla pace collo amico suo, e di nascoso li porrà li agguati.
9 Over the mountains, break out in cries of lamentation, over the pasture lands, intone a dirge: They are scorched, and no man crosses them, unheard is the bleat of the flock; Birds of the air as well as beasts, all have fled, and are gone.	9 Or non visitarò io sopra loro? dice Iddio; ovver l'anima mia non si vendicherà contra le genti così fatte?
10 I will turn Jerusalem into a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals; The cities of Judah I will make into a waste, where no one dwells.	10 Io piglierò sopra i monti pianto e lamento, e sopra le belle cose del deserto, pianto; però che sono accese, però che non è uomo che vi passi; e non udirono la voce di quello ch' è possessore; dall'uccello del cielo infino alle pecore trapasseranno e partirannosi.
11 Who is so wise that he can understand this? Let him to whom the mouth of the LORD has spoken make it known: Why is the land ravaged, scorched like a wasteland untraversed?	11 E porrò Ierusalem come monti di rena, e come caverne di dragoni; e porrò in desolazione le cittadi di Giuda, però che non è abitatore.
12 The LORD answered: Because they have abandoned my law, which I set before them, and have not followed it or listened to my voice,	12 Quale è uomo savio, che hae intese queste parole, e al quale la parola di Dio sia detta, acciò che annuncii questo, per che era perita la terra e arsa come deserto, però che non è chi vi passi?
13 but followed rather the hardness of their hearts and the Baals, as their fathers had taught them;	13 E disse Iddio: però che hanno abbandonata la legge mia, la quale io diedi loro, e non udirono la voce mia, e non andarono in quella;
14 therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: See now, I will give them wormwood to eat and poison to drink.	14 e andarono dietro alla pravitade dello loro cuore, e dopo (quello idolo che si chiama) Baalim, il quale impararono dalli loro padri.
15 I will scatter them among nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known; I will send the sword to pursue them until I have completely destroyed them.	15 Per questo dice il Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d'Israel: ecco io darò a questo populo lo assenzio in cibo, e darò loro a bere acqua di fiele.
16 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Attention! tell the wailing women to come, summon the best of them;	16 E dispergerò loro tra le genti, le quali loro non conobbero, nè li padri loro; e manderò dopo loro lo coltello, mentre che loro si consumeranno.
17 Let them come quickly and intone a dirge for us, That our eyes may be wet with weeping, our cheeks run with tears.	17 Questo dice Iddio Signore delli esèrciti: contemplate, e chiamate le lamentatrici, e vengano; e a quelle che sono savie mandate, e vengano.
18 The dirge is heard from Zion: Ruined we are, and greatly ashamed; We must leave the land, give up our homes!	18 Affrettinsi e piglino lamento sopra a noi; e li nostri occhi menino lacrime, e le palpebre delli nostri occhi abbondino (di lacrime) d' acque.
19 Hear, you women, the word of the LORD, let your ears receive his message. Teach your daughters this dirge, and each other this lament.	19 Però che di Sion si è udita la voce dello lamento (e dice): come siamo guastati e confusi fortemente? però [che] abbandonammo la terra, per che sono destrutti li nostri tabernacoli.
20 Death has come up through our windows, has entered our palaces; It cuts down the children in the street, young people in the squares.	20 Adunque, o donne, udite la parola di Dio, e le vostre orecchie piglino lo sermone della bocca sua; e insegnate lo lamento alle vostre figliuole, e ciascuna insegni alla sua prossima pianto.
21 The corpses of the slain lie like dung on a field, Like sheaves behind the harvester, with no one to gather them.	21 Però che la morte salisce per le fenestre, e verrà nelle nostre case a dispender di fuori li piccoli fanciulli (vostri) e li giovani delle piazze.
22 Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, nor the strong man glory in his strength, nor the rich man glory in his riches;	22 Parla: questo dice Iddio: cadrà lo corpo morto dell' uomo, come feccia, sopra la faccia della regione, e quasi fieno dopo le spalle di colui che il taglia, e non è chi lo colga.
23 But rather, let him who glories, glory in this, that in his prudence he knows me, Knows that I, the LORD, bring about kindness, justice and uprightness on the earth; For with such am I pleased, says the LORD.	23 Questo dice Iddio: non si glorii lo savio nella sapienza, e non abbia gloria lo forte nella sua fortezza, e l'uomo ricco nelle sue ricchezze.
24 See, days are coming, says the LORD, when I will demand an account of all those circumcised in their flesh:	24 Ma abbia gloria in questo, cioè di sapere e di conoscere me, però ch' io sono Iddio, il quale fo misericordia e giudicio e giustizia in terra; queste cose mi piacciono, dice Iddio.
25 Egypt and Judah, Edom and the Ammonites, Moab and the desert dwellers who shave their temples. For all these nations, like the whole house of Israel, are uncircumcised in heart.	25 Ecco verranno i dì, dice lo Signore; io visiterò sopra quelli che hanno circonciso lo prepuzio loro,
	26 sopra lo Egitto e sopra Giuda, e sopra Edom e sopra i figliuoli di Moab, e sopra li figliuoli di Ammon, e sopra tutti quelli che hanno tonduti li capelli, abitanti nel deserto; per che tutte le genti hanno lo prepuzio; tutti quelli della casa d'Israel sono incirconcisi nel cuore.
