Jeremiah 36

1 In the fourth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:	1 Nell'anno quarto di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, fu rivolta a Geremia questa parola da parte del Signore:
2 Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you against Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I first spoke to you, in the days of Josiah, until today.	2 "Prenditi un rotolo da scrivere e scrivi su di esso tutte le parole che io ti ho detto contro Israele e contro Giuda e contro tutte le nazioni, dal giorno in cui ti ho parlato, dai giorni di Giosia fino a questo giorno.
3 Perhaps, when the house of Judah hears all the evil I have in mind to do to them, they will turn back each from his evil way, so that I may forgive their wickedness and their sin.	3 Forse la casa di Giuda ascolterà tutta la sventura che io sto pensando di procurare loro e si ritrarrà ciascuno dalla propria via malvagia; così io potrò perdonare le loro iniquità e i loro peccati".
4 So Jeremiah called Baruch, son of Neriah, who wrote down on a scroll, as Jeremiah dictated, all the words which the LORD had spoken to him.	4 Geremia chiamò Baruc, figlio di Neria, e Baruc scrisse, sotto dettatura di Geremia, tutte le parole che il Signore gli aveva detto, nel rotolo della scrittura.
5 Then Jeremiah charged Baruch: I cannot go to the house of the LORD; I am prevented from doing so.	5 Poi Geremia ordinò a Baruc così: "Io sono impedito, non posso andare alla casa del Signore.
6 Do you go on the fast day and read publicly in the LORD'S house the LORD'S words from the scroll you wrote at my dictation; read them also to all the men of Judah who come up from their cities.	6 Tu va' e leggi, nel volume che hai scritto sotto mia dettatura, le parole del Signore, alle orecchie del popolo nella casa del Signore, nel giorno del digiuno, e le leggerai anche alle orecchie di tutti i Giudei che vengono dalle loro città.
7 Perhaps they will lay their supplication before the LORD and will all turn back from their evil way; for great is the fury of anger with which the LORD has threatened this people.	7 Forse giungerà la loro supplica dinanzi al Signore e ognuno ritornerà dalla sua via malvagia. Sì, è grande l'ira e il furore che il Signore ha minacciato contro questo popolo".
8 Baruch, son of Neriah, did everything the prophet Jeremiah commanded; from the book-scroll he read the LORD'S words in the LORD'S house.	8 Baruc, figlio di Neria, fece esattamente tutto ciò che gli aveva ordinato Geremia il profeta, leggendo sul libro le parole del Signore nella casa del Signore.
9 In the ninth month, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, a fast to placate the LORD was proclaimed for all the people of Jerusalem and all who came from Judah's cities to Jerusalem.	9 Nell'anno quinto di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, nel mese nono, convocarono un digiuno dinanzi al Signore per tutto il popolo di Gerusalemme e per tutto il popolo che poteva venire dalle città di Giuda in Gerusalemme.
10 It was in the room of Gemariah, son of the scribe Shaphan, in the upper court of the LORD'S house, at the entrance of the New Temple-Gate, that Baruch publicly read the words of Jeremiah from his book.	10 Baruc, quindi, lesse nel libro le parole di Geremia, nella casa del Signore, nella camera di Ghemarià, figlio di Safàn lo scriba, nel cortile superiore, all'ingresso della Porta Nuova della casa del Signore, alle orecchie di tutto il popolo.

12 So he went down to the king's palace, into the scribe's chamber, where the princes were just then in session: Elishama, the scribe, Delaiah, son of Shemaiah, Elnathan, son of Achbor, Gemariah, son of Shaphan, Zedekiah, son of Hananiah, and the other princes.	12 quindi discese alla casa del re, nella camera dello scriba, ed ecco là tutti i prìncipi stavano seduti: Elisamà lo scriba e Delaià, figlio di Semaià, ed Elnatàn, figlio di Acbor, e Ghemarià, figlio di Safàn, e Sedecia, figlio di Anania, con tutti i prìncipi.

14 Thereupon the princes sent Jehudi, son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, to Baruch with the order: "Come, and bring with you the scroll you read publicly to the people." Scroll in hand, Baruch, son of Neriah, went to them.	14 Allora tutti i prìncipi inviarono a Baruc Iudi, figlio di Selemìa, figlio dell'Etiope, a dirgli: "Prendi nella tua mano il volume che hai letto alle orecchie del popolo e vieni". 16 and when they heard all its words, they were frightened and said to one another, "We must certainly tell the king all these things."	16 Or mentre ascoltavano tutte quelle parole si spaventarono e dissero l'un l'altro: "Dobbiamo assolutamente riferire al re tutte queste parole".
17 Then they asked Baruch: "Tell us, please, how you came to write down all these words."	17 Poi interrogarono Baruc: "Riferisci come hai scritto tutte queste cose".
18 "Jeremiah dictated all these words to me," Baruch answered them, "and I wrote them down with ink in the book."	18 Baruc disse loro: "Di sua propria bocca diceva a me tutte queste parole e io scrivevo sul libro con l'inchiostro".
19 At this the princes said to Baruch, "Go into hiding, you and Jeremiah; let no one know where you are."	19 I prìncipi dissero poi a Baruc: "Va', nasconditi, tu e Geremia, e nessuno sappia dove state!".
20 Leaving the scroll in safekeeping in the room of Elishama the scribe, they entered the room where the king was. When they told him everything that had happened,	20 Essi, poi, si recarono presso il re alla corte del palazzo, lasciando il volume nella camera di Elisamà lo scriba, e riferirono alle orecchie del re ogni parola.
21 he sent Jehudi to fetch the scroll. Jehudi brought it from the room of Elishama the scribe, and read it to the king and to all the princes who were in attendance on the king.	21 Il re inviò Iudi a prendere il volume. 22 Now the king was sitting in his winter house, since it was the ninth month, and fire was burning in a brazier before him.	22 Ora il re abitava nella casa invernale, si era nel mese nono, e un braciere stava ardendo dinanzi a lui.
23 Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king would cut off the piece with a scribe's knife and cast it into the fire in the brazier, until the entire roll was consumed in the fire.	23 Appena Iudi aveva letto tre colonne o quattro, il re le stracciava con il temperino dello scriba e le gettava nel fuoco che era nel braciere, finché fu consumato l'intero volume sul fuoco che era nel braciere.
24 Hearing all these words did not frighten the king and his ministers or cause them to rend their garments.	24 Ascoltando tutte queste parole né il re né alcuno dei suoi servi tremarono né stracciarono le loro vesti.
25 And though Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them,	25 E sebbene Elnatàn e Delaià e Ghemarià insistessero presso il re che non bruciasse il volume, tuttavia non volle ascoltarli.
26 but commanded Jerahmeel, a royal prince, and Seraiah, son of Azriel, and Shelemiah, son of Abdeel, to arrest Baruch, the secretary, and the prophet Jeremiah. But the LORD kept them concealed.	26 Anzi il re ordinò al principe Ieracmeèl e a Seraià, figlio di Azrièl, e a Selemìa, figlio di Abdeèl, di arrestare Baruc lo scriba e Geremia il profeta. Ma il Signore li aveva nascosti.
27 This word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after the king burned the scroll with the text Jeremiah had dictated to Baruch:	27 La parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia, dopo che il re ebbe bruciato il volume con le parole che aveva scritto Baruc sotto dettatura di Geremia, in questi termini:
28 Take another scroll, and write on it everything that the first scroll contained, which Jehoiakim, king of Judah, burned up.	28 "Ritorna a prenderti un altro volume e scrivi in esso tutte le parole di prima, contenute nel volume precedente, quello che ha bruciato Ioiakìm, re di Giuda.
29 And against Jehoiakim, king of Judah, say this: Thus says the LORD: You burned that scroll, saying, "Why did you write on it: Babylon's king shall surely come and lay waste this land and empty it of man and beast?"	29 Al re Ioiakìm, re di Giuda, dirai: Così dice il Signore: Tu hai bruciato questo volume, dicendo: "Perché hai scritto in esso così: Verrà, verrà il re di Babilonia e distruggerà questo paese e farà scomparire da esso uomini e bestie?".
30 The LORD now says of Jehoiakim, king of Judah: No descendant of his shall succeed to David's throne; his corpse shall be cast out, exposed to the heat of day, to the cold of night.	30 Perciò così dice il Signore contro Ioiakìm, re di Giuda: Non avrà chi sieda sul trono di Davide, e il suo cadavere sarà gettato al calore del giorno e al freddo della notte.
31 I will punish him and his descendants and his ministers for their wickedness; against them and the citizens of Jerusalem and the men of Judah I will fulfill all the threats of evil which went unheeded.	31 Io punirò sopra di lui e sopra la sua discendenza e sopra i suoi ministri le loro iniquità e farò arrivare contro di loro e contro gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e contro gli uomini di Giuda ogni sventura di cui ho parlato loro, senza che mi ascoltassero".
32 Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to his secretary, Baruch, son of Neriah; he wrote on it at Jeremiah's dictation all the words contained in the book which Jehoiakim, king of Judah, had burned in the fire, and many others of the same kind in addition.	32 Geremia, intanto, prese un altro volume e lo consegnò a Baruc, figlio di Neria, lo scriba, il quale scrisse su di esso, sotto dettatura di Geremia, tutte le parole del libro che Ioiakìm, re di Giuda, aveva bruciato nel fuoco. Furono, anzi, aggiunte ad esse molte altre parole simili a quelle.
