Leviticus 26

1 "Do not make false gods for yourselves. You shall not erect an idol or a sacred pillar for yourselves, nor shall you set up a stone figure for worship in your land; for I, the LORD, am your God.	1 Io sono lo vostro Iddio. Sicchè non farete idoli nè figure nè imagini, nè pietra insigne (e notabile) dirizzerete nella terra vostra per adorare. Però ch' io son lo Signore Iddio vostro.
2 Keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. I am the LORD.	2 Osservate li miei sabbati (e le mie solennitadi) e abbiate in reverenza lo mio santuario. Io son Signore.
3 "If you live in accordance with my precepts and are careful to observe my commandments,	3 Se voi seguiterete li miei comandamenti e osserverete quelli e fareteli, io vi darò molte cose alli suoi tempi.
4 I will give you rain in due season, so that the land will bear its crops, and the trees their fruit;	4 E la terra germinerà lo frutto suo, e li arbori si riempiranno di frutti.
5 your threshing will last till vintage time, and your vintage till the time for sowing, and you will have food to eat in abundance, so that you may dwell securely in your land.	5 Sarà tanta la trituratura delle biade tagliate, che impedirà la vendemmia; e la vendemmia sarà tanta, che occuperà la semente; e lo vostro pane mangerete in grande abbondanza, e senza niuna paura abiterete nelle vostre terre.
6 I will establish peace in the land, that you may lie down to rest without anxiety. I will rid the country of ravenous beasts, and keep the sword of war from sweeping across your land.	6 Io darò pace in tutto lo vostro paese; e dormirete securi; io ucciderò le male bestie, e ogni coltello torrò delle (vostre carni e delle) vostre con trade.
7 You will rout your enemies and lay them low with your sword.	7 E li vostri nemici perseguiterete, e nel vostro cospetto verranno meno.
8 Five of you will put a hundred of your foes to flight, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand of them, till they are cut down by your sword.	8 E cinque de' vostri ne perseguiteranno cento de loro, e cento de' vostri ne perseguiteranno dieci mila; e nel vostro cospetto tutti morranno di coltello.
9 I will look with favor upon you, and make you fruitful and numerous, as I carry out my covenant with you.	9 Io vi riguarderò, e farovvi crescere e moltiplicare; e con voi fermerò questo patto.
10 So much of the old crops will you have stored up for food that you will have to discard them to make room for the new.	10 Le cose vecchie mangerete insino a tanto che verranno le nuove, e poi le getterete via.
11 I will set my Dwelling among you, and will not disdain you.	11 Io sì ponerò lo mio tabernacolo nel mezzo di voi, e non v'avrò a schifo.
12 Ever present in your midst, I will be your God, and you will be my people;	12 Io anderò fra voi, e sarò vostro Iddio, insino a tanto che voi sarete mio popolo.
13 for it is I, the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of the Egyptians and freed you from their slavery, breaking the yoke they had laid upon you and letting you walk erect.	13 Io sono quello Iddio che vi trassi della terra d'Egitto, perchè non foste loro servi, (e io vi trassi della loro servitudine), e quello il quale ruppi le catene del collo vostro, acciò che voi andaste ritti.
14 "But if you do not heed me and do not keep all these commandments,	14 E se voi non mi udirete, e non farete tutti li miei comandamenti,
15 if you reject my precepts and spurn my decrees, refusing to obey all my commandments and breaking my covenant,	15 e se le leggi mie avrete a schifo, e lo patto ch' io ho fatto con voi non atterrete,
16 then I, in turn, will give you your deserts. I will punish you with terrible woes--with wasting and fever to dim the eyes and sap the life. You will sow your seed in vain, for your enemies will consume the crop.	16 io vi farò questo; ch' io vi visiterò in caldo e in fuoco, che tutti acciechi gli occhi vostri e consumi l'anime vostre. Invano seminerete i vostri semi; però ch' io gli farò divorare alli vostri nemici.
17 I will turn against you, till you are beaten down before your enemies and lorded over by your foes. You will take to flight though no one pursues you.	17 lo porrò la faccia mia contro a voi, e verrete meno contro a' vostri nemici, e farovvi soggetti a chi male vi vuole, e fuggirete senza s?guitarvi persona.
18 "If even after this you do not obey me, I will increase the chastisement for your sins sevenfold,	18 E se per questo anco non obbedirete, sette cotanto lo moltiplicherò più per li vostri peccati.
19 to break your haughty confidence. I will make the sky above you as hard as iron, and your soil as hard as bronze,	19 E farò venire meno la vostra superbia; io vi darò di sopra lo cielo come ferro, la terra di metallo.
20 so that your strength will be spent in vain; your land will bear no crops, and its trees no fruit.	20 Sì che la vostra fatica sarà invano; la terra non farà il frutto suo, e gli arbori non daranno loro pomi.
21 "If then you become defiant in your unwillingness to obey me, I will multiply my blows another sevenfold, as your sins deserve.	21 E se voi pure vorrete andare al contrario, e non vorrete fare i miei comandamenti, io vi crescerò assai più la piaga adosso per li vostri peccati (e maledizioni).
22 I will unleash the wild beasts against you, to rob you of your children and wipe out your livestock, till your population dwindles away and your roads become deserted.	22 E io vi manderò bestie de campi, che vi divoreranno e tutte le vostre bestie; e recheroe a nulla tutta la vostra generazione, e le vostre vie farò deserte.
23 "If, with all this, you still refuse to be chastened by me and continue to defy me,	23 E se pure sarete ostinati a malfare, e non curerete della mia correzione,
24 I, too, will defy you and will smite you for your sins seven times harder than before.	24 vi crescerò queste piaghe sette cotanti più per li vostri peccati.
25 I will make the sword, the avenger of my covenant, sweep over you. Though you then huddle together in your walled cities, I will send in pestilence among you, till you are forced to surrender to the enemy.	25 E io metterò infra voi il coltello della vendetta del patto mio (per lo peccato che voi faceste). E quando voi fuggirete alle città, io metterò infra voi grande pestilenza, e metterovvi nelle mani de' vostri nemici.
26 And as I cut off your supply of bread, ten women will need but one oven for baking all the bread they dole out to you in rations--not enough food to still your hunger.	26 Poi ch' io avrò guasta (e distrutta) la vostra semente, io farò che uno forno basterà a dieci femine; tanto sarà poco lo pane; e non vi potrete torre la fame.
27 "If, despite all this, you still persist in disobeying and defying me,	27 E se per questo ancora non mi vorrete udire, e anderete pur contro me,
28 I, also, will meet you with fiery defiance and will chastise you with sevenfold fiercer punishment for your sins,	28 io anderò contro a voi con furore contrario; e gastigherovvi con sette piaghe per li vostri peccati.
29 till you begin to eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.	29 Si che voi mangerete la carne de vostri figliuoli, e le vostre figliuole.
30 I will demolish your high places, overthrow your incense stands, and cast your corpses on those of your idols. In my abhorrence of you,	30 lo guasterò le vostre magnificenze, e romperò li vostri idoli, e caderete nella rovina delli vostri idoli; e io vi abbominerò
31 I will lay waste your cities and devastate your sanctuaries, refusing to accept your sweet-smelling offerings.	31 in tanto che le vostre cittadi torneranno solitarie; e li vostri santuarii diserterò; e li vostri sacrificii non gli (esaudirò, e non gli) accetterò.
32 So devastated will I leave the land that your very enemies who come to live there will stand aghast at the sight of it.	32 Io dispergerò la terra vostra, intanto che i vostri nemici, possedendola, se ne maraviglieranno.
33 You yourselves I will scatter among the nations at the point of my drawn sword, leaving your countryside desolate and your cities deserted.	33 E voi farò dispersi fra le genti, e trarrò fuori il coltello; e le vostre terre saranno deserte, e le vostre cittadi guaste.
34 Then shall the land retrieve its lost sabbaths during all the time it lies waste, while you are in the land of your enemies; then shall the land have rest and make up for its sabbaths	34 Allora piaceranno le sue feste alla terra tutti i dì della sua solitudine; quando sarete stati in terra a voi inimica,
35 during all the time that it lies desolate, enjoying the rest that you would not let it have on the sabbaths when you lived there.	35 lei festizzerà e riposerassi nelle feste della sua solitudine; però che la non si riposò nelle vostre solennitadi, quando voi abitavate in essa.
36 "Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies I will make so fainthearted that, if leaves rustle behind them, they will flee headlong, as if from the sword, though no one pursues them;	36 E quelli che rimarranno di voi, porrò terrore nelli cuori loro nelle regioni delli inimici. Ispaventerà loro lo suono delle foglie volanti; e fuggiranlo come lo coltello; cadrete, e niuno vi per seguiterà.
37 stumbling over one another as if to escape a weapon, while no one is after them--so helpless will you be to take a stand against your foes!	37 E ciascheduno verrà meno sopra lo suo fratello, come se fosse in battaglia; niuno di voi avrà ardire di resistere alli nemici suoi.
38 You will be lost among the Gentiles, swallowed up in your enemies' country.	38 Ma verrete meno infra le genti, e la terra [ nemica ] vi consumerà.
39 Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies will waste away for their own and their fathers' guilt.	39 E se alcuno (di queste tribulazioni) scamperà, metterollo nella terra de' suoi nemici; e de' peccati suoi (antichi) e delli suoi padri lo punirò,
40 "Thus they will have to confess that they and their fathers were guilty of having rebelled against me and of having defied me,	40 insino a tanto ch' egli non conoscerà la sua malizia, e [li peccati] delli suoi padri, li quali hanno fatti contro di me, e sono andati contro a me.
41 so that I, too, had to defy them and bring them into their enemies' land. Then, when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they make amends for their guilt,	41 E io anderò sempre contro a voi, e in durrovvi nella terra delli vostri nemici, insino a tanto che (si conosceranno, e) avranno vergogna del male il quale hanno fatto. Allora oreranno per li suoi peccati.
42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob, my covenant with Isaac, and my covenant with Abraham; and of the land, too, I will be mindful.	42 E mi ricorderò del patto che feci insieme con Abraam, Isaac e Iacob. E ricorderommi la terra.
43 But the land must first be rid of them, that in its desolation it may make up its lost sabbaths, and that they, too, may make good the debt of their guilt for having spurned my precepts and abhorred my statutes.	43 La quale essendo abbandonata da loro, starà lieta nelle sue feste, sostenendo desolazione per cagione di loro. Ma loro pregheranno per lo peccato loro, perciò che hanno abbandonato la legge mia.
44 Yet even so, even while they are in their enemies' land, I will not reject or spurn them, lest, by wiping them out, I make void my covenant with them; for I, the LORD, am their God.	44 Ed essendo nella terra inimica, non gli abbandonai; e non gli ebbi tanto in odio, ch' io gli lasciassi perire; e lo patto ch' io avea fatto con loro non lo ruppi. Io sono loro Iddio.
45 I will remember them because of the covenant I made with their forefathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt under the very eyes of the Gentiles, that I, the LORD, might be their God."	45 E raccordarommi del patto ch' io feci con loro, e come io gli trassi della terra d'Egitto nel cospetto d'ogni gente, acciò ch' io fossi il loro Iddio. Io son lo Signore Iddio. E questi sono i comandamenti e le leggi ch' io pattovii coi figliuoli d'Israel nel monte Sinai (e diedi loro) per Moisè mio servo fedele (E queste cose tutte promessero loro a Dio).
46 These are the precepts, decrees and laws which the LORD had Moses promulgate on Mount Sinai in the pact between himself and the Israelites.
