Leviticus 25

1 The LORD said to Moses on Mount Sinai,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse sur le mont Sinaï; il dit:
2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land that I am giving you, let the land, too, keep a sabbath for the LORD.	2 Parle aux Israélites, tu leur diras: Lorsque vous entrerez au pays que je vous donne, la terrechômera un sabbat pour Yahvé.
3 For six years you may sow your field, and for six years prune your vineyard, gathering in their produce.	3 Pendant six ans tu ensemenceras ton champ, pendant six ans tu tailleras ta vigne et tu enrécolteras les produits.
4 But during the seventh year the land shall have a complete rest, a sabbath for the LORD, when you may neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard.	4 Mais en la septième année la terre aura son repos sabbatique, un sabbat pour Yahvé: tun'ensemenceras pas ton champ et tu ne tailleras pas ta vigne,
5 The aftergrowth of your harvest you shall not reap, nor shall you pick the grapes of your untrimmed vines in this year of sabbath rest for the land.	5 tu ne moissonneras pas tes épis, qui ne seront pas mis en gerbe, et tu ne vendangeras pas tesraisins, qui ne seront pas émondés. Ce sera pour la terre une année de repos.
6 While the land has its sabbath, all its produce will be food equally for you yourself and for your male and female slaves, for your hired help and the tenants who live with you,	6 Le sabbat même de la terre vous nourrira, toi, ton serviteur, ta servante, ton journalier, ton hôte,bref ceux qui résident chez toi.
7 and likewise for your livestock and for the wild animals on your land.	7 A ton bétail aussi et aux bêtes de ton pays tous ses produits serviront de nourriture.
8 "Seven weeks of years shall you count--seven times seven years--so that the seven cycles amount to forty-nine years.	8 Tu compteras sept semaines d'années, sept fois sept ans, c'est-à-dire le temps de sept semainesd'années, 49 ans.
9 Then, on the tenth day of the seventh month let the trumpet resound; on this, the Day of Atonement, the trumpet blast shall re-echo throughout your land.	9 Le septième mois, le dixième jour du mois tu feras retentir l'appel de la trompe; le jour desExpiations vous sonnerez de la trompe dans tout le pays.
10 This fiftieth year you shall make sacred by proclaiming liberty in the land for all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when every one of you shall return to his own property, every one to his own family estate.	10 Vous déclarerez sainte cette cinquantième année et proclamerez l'affranchissement de tous leshabitants du pays. Ce sera pour vous un jubilé: chacun de vous rentrera dans son patrimoine, chacun de vousretournera dans son clan.
11 In this fiftieth year, your year of jubilee, you shall not sow, nor shall you reap the aftergrowth or pick the grapes from the untrimmed vines.	11 Cette cinquantième année sera pour vous une année jubilaire: vous ne sèmerez pas, vous nemoissonnerez pas les épis qui n'auront pas été mis en gerbe, vous ne vendangerez pas les ceps qui auront poussélibrement.
12 Since this is the jubilee, which shall be sacred for you, you may not eat of its produce, except as taken directly from the field.	12 Le jubilé sera pour vous chose sainte, vous mangerez des produits des champs.
13 "In this year of jubilee, then, every one of you shall return to his own property.	13 En cette année jubilaire vous rentrerez chacun dans votre patrimoine.
14 Therefore, when you sell any land to your neighbor or buy any from him, do not deal unfairly.	14 Si tu vends ou si tu achètes à ton compatriote, que nul ne lèse son frère!
15 On the basis of the number of years since the last jubilee shall you purchase the land from him; and so also, on the basis of the number of years for crops, shall he sell it to you.	15 C'est en fonction du nombre d'années écoulées depuis le jubilé que tu achèteras à toncompatriote; c'est en fonction du nombre d'années productives qu'il te fixera le prix de vente.
16 When the years are many, the price shall be so much the more; when the years are few, the price shall be so much the less. For it is really the number of crops that he sells you.	16 Plus sera grand le nombre d'années, plus tu augmenteras le prix, moins il y aura d'années, plustu le réduiras, car c'est un certain nombre de récoltes qu'il te vend.
17 Do not deal unfairly, then; but stand in fear of your God. I, the LORD, am your God.	17 Que nul d'entre vous ne lèse son compatriote, mais aie la crainte de ton Dieu, car c'est moiYahvé votre Dieu.
18 "Observe my precepts and be careful to keep my regulations, for then you will dwell securely in the land.	18 Vous mettrez en pratique mes lois et mes coutumes, vous les garderez pour les mettre enpratique, et ainsi vous habiterez dans le pays en sécurité.
19 The land will yield its fruit and you will have food in abundance, so that you may live there without worry.	19 La terre donnera son fruit, vous mangerez à satiété et vous habiterez en sécurité.
20 Therefore, do not say, 'What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we do not then sow or reap our crop?'	20 Pour le cas où vous diriez: "Que mangerons-nous en cette septième année si nousn'ensemençons pas et ne récoltons pas nos produits" --
21 I will bestow such blessings on you in the sixth year that there will then be crop enough for three years.	21 j'ai prescrit à ma bénédiction de vous être acquise la sixième année en sorte qu'elle assure desproduits pour trois ans.
22 When you sow in the eighth year, you will continue to eat from the old crop; and even into the ninth year, when the crop comes in, you will still have the old to eat from.	22 Quand vous sèmerez la huitième année vous pourrez encore manger des produits anciensjusqu'à la neuvième année; jusqu'à ce que viennent les produits de cette année-là vous mangerez des anciens.
23 "The land shall not be sold in perpetuity; for the land is mine, and you are but aliens who have become my tenants.	23 La terre ne sera pas vendue avec perte de tout droit, car la terre m'appartient et vous n'êtes pourmoi que des étrangers et des hôtes.
24 Therefore, in every part of the country that you occupy, you must permit the land to be redeemed.	24 Pour toute propriété foncière vous laisserez un droit de rachat sur le fonds.
25 When one of your countrymen is reduced to poverty and has to sell some of his property, his closest relative, who has the right to redeem it, may go and buy back what his kinsman has sold.	25 Si ton frère tombe dans la gêne et doit vendre de son patrimoine, son plus proche parent viendrachez lui exercer ses droits familiaux sur ce que vend son frère.
26 If, however, the man has no relative to redeem his land, but later on acquires sufficient means to buy it back in his own name,	26 Celui qui n'a personne pour exercer ce droit pourra, lorsqu'il aura trouvé de quoi faire le rachat,
27 he shall make a deduction from the price in proportion to the number of years since the sale, and then pay back the balance to the one to whom he sold it, so that he may thus regain his own property.	27 calculer les années que devrait durer l'aliénation, restituer à l'acheteur le montant pour le tempsencore à courir, et rentrer dans son patrimoine.
28 But if he does not acquire sufficient means to buy back his land, what he has sold shall remain in the possession of the purchaser until the jubilee, when it must be released and returned to its original owner.	28 S'il ne trouve pas de quoi opérer cette restitution, le fonds vendu restera à l'acquéreur jusqu'àl'année jubilaire. C'est au jubilé que celui-ci en sortira pour rentrer dans son propre patrimoine.
29 "When someone sells a dwelling in a walled town, he has the right to buy it back during the time of one full year from its sale.	29 Si quelqu'un vend une maison d'habitation dans une ville enclose d'une muraille, il aura droit derachat jusqu'à l'expiration de l'année qui suit la vente; son droit de rachat est limité à l'année
30 But if such a house in a walled town has not been redeemed at the end of a full year, it shall belong in perpetuity to the purchaser and his descendants; nor shall it be released in the jubilee.	30 et, si le rachat n'a pas été fait à l'expiration de l'année, cette maison en ville close sera lapropriété de l'acquéreur et de ses descendants à l'exclusion de tout autre droit: il n'aura pas à en sortir au jubilé.
31 However, houses in villages that are not encircled by walls shall be considered as belonging to the surrounding farm land; they may be redeemed at any time, and in the jubilee they must be released.	31 Mais les maisons des villages non enclos de murailles seront considérées comme sises à lacampagne, elles comporteront droit de rachat et l'acquéreur en devra sortir au jubilé.
32 "In levitical cities the Levites shall always have the right to redeem the town houses that are their property.	32 Quant aux villes des lévites, aux maisons des villes que ceux-ci possèdent, elles comportent àleur profit un droit de rachat perpétuel.
33 Any town house of the Levites in their cities that had been sold and not redeemed, shall be released in the jubilee; for the town houses of the Levites are their hereditary property in the midst of the Israelites.	33 Et si c'est un lévite qui subit l'effet du droit de rachat, il quittera au jubilé le bien vendu pourretourner à sa maison, à la ville où il a un titre de propriété. Les maisons des villes des lévites sont en effet leurpropriété au milieu des Israélites,
34 Moreover, the pasture land belonging to their cities shall not be sold at all; it must always remain their hereditary property.	34 et les champs de culture dépendant de ces villes ne pourront pas être vendus, car c'est leurpropriété pour toujours.
35 "When one of your fellow countrymen is reduced to poverty and is unable to hold out beside you, extend to him the privileges of an alien or a tenant, so that he may continue to live with you.	35 Si ton frère qui vit avec toi tombe dans la gêne et s'avère défaillant dans ses rapports avec toi, tule soutiendras à titre d'étranger ou d'hôte et il vivra avec toi.
36 Do not exact interest from your countryman either in money or in kind, but out of fear of God let him live with you.	36 Ne lui prends ni travail ni intérêts, mais aie la crainte de ton Dieu et que ton frère vive avec toi.
37 You are to lend him neither money at interest nor food at a profit.	37 Tu ne lui donneras pas d'argent pour en tirer du profit ni de la nourriture pour en percevoir desintérêts:
38 I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.	38 je suis Yahvé votre Dieu qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d'Egypte pour vous donner le pays deCanaan, pour être votre Dieu.
39 "When, then, your countryman becomes so impoverished beside you that he sells you his services, do not make him work as a slave.	39 Si ton frère tombe dans la gêne alors qu'il est en rapports avec toi et s'il se vend à toi, tu ne luiimposeras pas un travail d'esclave;
40 Rather, let him be like a hired servant or like your tenant, working with you until the jubilee year,	40 il sera pour toi comme un salarié ou un hôte et travaillera avec toi jusqu'à l'année jubilaire.
41 when he, together with his children, shall be released from your service and return to his kindred and to the property of his ancestors.	41 Alors il te quittera, lui et ses enfants, et il retournera dans son clan, il rentrera dans la propriétéde ses pères.
42 Since those whom I brought out of the land of Egypt are servants of mine, they shall not be sold as slaves to any man.	42 Ils sont en effet mes serviteurs, eux que j'ai fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, et ils ne doivent pas sevendre comme un esclave se vend.
43 Do not lord it over them harshly, but stand in fear of your God.	43 Tu n'exerceras pas sur lui un pouvoir de contrainte mais tu auras la crainte de ton Dieu.
44 "Slaves, male and female, you may indeed possess, provided you buy them from among the neighboring nations.	44 Les serviteurs et servantes que tu auras viendront des nations qui vous entourent; c'est d'ellesque vous pourrez acquérir serviteurs et servantes.
45 You may also buy them from among the aliens who reside with you and from their children who are born and reared in your land. Such slaves you may own as chattels,	45 De plus vous en pourrez acquérir parmi les enfants des hôtes qui résident chez vous ainsi que deleurs familles qui vivent avec vous et qu'ils ont engendrées sur votre sol: ils seront votre propriété
46 and leave to your sons as their hereditary property, making them perpetual slaves. But you shall not lord it harshly over any of the Israelites, your kinsmen.	46 et vous les laisserez en héritage à vos fils après vous pour qu'ils les possèdent à titre depropriété perpétuelle. Vous les aurez pour esclaves, mais sur vos frères, les Israélites, nul n'exercera un pouvoirde contrainte.
47 "When one of your countrymen is reduced to such poverty that he sells himself to a wealthy alien who has a permanent or a temporary residence among you, or to one of the descendants of an immigrant family,	47 Si l'étranger ou celui qui est ton hôte atteint une certaine aisance alors que ton frère, dans sesrapports avec lui, tombe dans la gêne et se vend à cet étranger, à cet hôte, ou au descendant de la famille d'unrésidant,
48 even after he has thus sold his services he still has the right of redemption; he may be redeemed by one of his own brothers,	48 il jouira d'un droit de rachat, vente faite, et l'un de ses frères pourra le racheter.
49 or by his uncle or cousin, or by some other relative or fellow clansman; or, if he acquires the means, he may redeem himself.	49 Pourront le racheter son oncle paternel, le fils de son oncle ou l'un des membres de sa famille;ou, s'il en a les moyens, il pourra se racheter lui-même.
50 With his purchaser he shall compute the years from the sale to the jubilee, distributing the sale price over these years as though he had been hired as a day laborer.	50 En accord avec celui qui l'a acquis, il fera le compte des années comprises entre l'année de lavente et l'année jubilaire; le montant du prix de vente sera évalué en fonction des années, en comptant sesjournées comme celles d'un salarié.
51 The more such years there are, the more of the sale price he shall pay back as ransom;	51 S'il reste encore beaucoup d'années à courir, c'est en fonction de leur nombre qu'il rembourseracomme valeur de son rachat une partie de son prix de vente.
52 the fewer years there are left before the jubilee year, the more he has to his credit; in proportion to his years of service shall he pay his ransom.	52 S'il ne reste que peu d'années à courir jusqu'au jubilé, c'est en fonction de leur nombre qu'ilcalculera ce qu'il remboursera pour son rachat,
53 The alien shall treat him as a servant hired on an annual basis, and he shall not lord it over him harshly under your very eyes.	53 comme s'il était salarié à l'année. On ne le traitera pas arbitrairement sous tes yeux.
54 If he is not thus redeemed, he shall nevertheless be released, together with his children, in the jubilee year.	54 S'il n'a été racheté d'aucune de ces manières, c'est en l'année jubilaire qu'il s'en ira, lui et sesenfants avec lui.
55 For to me the Israelites belong as servants; they are servants of mine, because I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I, the LORD, your God.	55 Car c'est de moi que les Israélites sont les serviteurs; ce sont mes serviteurs que j'ai fait sortir dupays d'Egypte. Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.
