Isaiah 39

1 At that time when Merodach-baladan, son of Baladan, king of Babylon, heard that Hezekiah had recovered from his sickness, he sent letters and gifts to him.	1 In quel tempo Merodach-Bàladan, figlio di Bàladan, re di Babilonia, inviò lettere e doni a Ezechia, perché aveva udito che Ezechia era caduto ammalato.
2 Hezekiah was pleased at this, and therefore showed the messengers his treasury, the silver and gold, the spices and fine oil, his whole armory, and everything that was in his storerooms; there was nothing in his house or in his whole realm that he did not show them.	2 Ezechia se ne rallegrò e mostrò agl'inviati la camera del tesoro, l'argento, l'oro, i profumi, l'olio pregiato, tutto il suo arsenale e tutto ciò che si trovava nei suoi tesori. Non vi fu nulla che Ezechia non abbia mostrato loro nel suo palazzo e in tutto il suo regno.
3 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and asked him, "What did these men say to you? Where did they come from?" Hezekiah answered, "They came to me from a distant land, from Babylon."	3 Il profeta Isaia si recò dal re Ezechia e gli domandò: "Che cosa hanno detto quegli uomini e donde sono venuti a te?". Rispose Ezechia: "Sono venuti a me da una terra lontana, da Babilonia".
4 "What did they see in your house?" he asked. Hezekiah replied, "They saw everything in my house; there is nothing in my storerooms that I did not show them."	4 Quegli domandò ancora: "Che cosa hanno visto nel tuo palazzo?". Soggiunse Ezechia: "Hanno visto tutto ciò che si trova nel mio palazzo. Non c'è nulla che non abbia loro mostrato nei miei tesori".
5 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:	5 Rispose Isaia ad Ezechia: "Ascolta la parola del Signore degli eserciti:
6 Behold, the days shall come when all that is in your house, and everything that your fathers have stored up until this day, shall be carried off to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD.	6 Ecco, verranno dei giorni in cui verrà asportato a Babilonia tutto ciò che si trova nel tuo palazzo e i tesori che i tuoi antenati hanno accumulato fino ad oggi. Nulla vi resterà, dice il Signore.
7 Some of your own bodily descendants shall be taken and made servants in the palace of the king of Babylon."	7 E dei figli che usciranno dalle tue viscere e hai generato, alcuni saranno presi e diventeranno eunuchi nel tempio del re di Babilonia".
8 Hezekiah replied to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD which you have spoken is favorable." For he thought, "There will be peace and security in my lifetime."	8 Rispose Ezechia a Isaia: "Buona è la parola del Signore che hai proferito". Egli pensava: "Vi sarà pace e sicurezza almeno nei miei giorni".
