NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
For the leader. Of David. In the LORD I take refuge; how can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to the mountains!1 In the LORD put I my trust: How say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
See how the wicked string their bows, fit their arrows to the string to shoot from the shadows at the upright.2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
When foundations are being destroyed, what can the upright do?"3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD'S throne is in heaven. God's eyes keep careful watch; they test all peoples.4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The LORD tests the good and the bad, hates those who love violence,5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
And rains upon the wicked fiery coals and brimstone, a scorching wind their allotted cup.6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
The LORD is just and loves just deeds; the upright shall see his face.7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
