1 After the twenty years during which Solomon built the house of the LORD and his own house,	1 Nach Ablauf der zwanzig Jahre aber, während deren Salomo den Tempel des HERRN und seinen Palast erbaut hatte,
2 he built up the cities which Huram had given him, and settled Israelites there.	2 da befestigte Salomo die Städte, die Huram ihm abgetreten hatte, und wies sie Israeliten zum Wohnsitz an.
3 Then Solomon went to Hamath of Zoba and conquered it.	3 Hierauf zog Salomo gegen Hamath-Zoba und unterwarf es.
4 He built Tadmor in the desert region and all the supply cities, which he built in Hamath.	4 Er befestigte auch Thadmor in der Wüste und alle Vorratsstädte, die er in Hamath angelegt hatte.
5 He built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates and bars;	5 Weiter baute er das obere und das untere Beth-Horon zu festen Plätzen mit Mauern, Toren und Torriegeln aus;
6 also Baalath, all the supply cities belonging to Solomon, and all the cities for the chariots, the cities for the horsemen, and whatever else Solomon decided should be built in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon, and in the entire land under his dominion.	6 ebenso Baalath und alle Vorratsstädte, die er besaß, sowie alle Ortschaften, in denen die Kriegswagen und die Reitpferde (oder: Reiter) untergebracht wurden, überhaupt alle Bauten, die Salomo in Jerusalem, auf dem Libanon und im ganzen Bereich seiner Herrschaft auszuführen wünschte.
7 All the people that remained of the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not of Israel--	7 Alles, was noch an Nachkommen von den Hethitern, Amoritern, Perissitern, Hewitern und Jebusitern übrig war, die nicht zu den Israeliten gehörten –
8 that is, their descendants remaining in the land, whom the Israelites had not destroyed--Solomon subjected to forced labor, as they continue to this day.	8 die Nachkommen von ihnen, soweit sie im Lande noch übriggeblieben waren, weil die Israeliten sie nicht ausgerottet hatten –, die hob Salomo zum Frondienst aus, und sie sind Fronarbeiter geblieben bis auf den heutigen Tag.
9 But Solomon did not enslave the Israelites for his works. They became soldiers, commanders of his warriors, and commanders of his chariots and his horsemen.	9 Von den Israeliten dagegen machte Salomo keinen zum Leibeigenen für seine Arbeit, sondern sie dienten im Heer als Kriegsleute, als Befehlshaber und als Obere über seine Kriegswagen und über seine Reiterei. –
10 They were also King Solomon's two hundred and fifty overseers who had charge of the people.	10 Die Zahl der Oberaufseher, die der König Salomo hatte, belief sich auf 250; sie hatten die Leute bei den Arbeiten zu beaufsichtigen. –
11 Solomon brought the daughter of Pharaoh up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her, for he said, "No wife of mine shall dwell in the house of David, king of Israel, for the places where the ark of the LORD has come are holy."	11 Die Tochter des Pharaos aber brachte Salomo aus der Davidsstadt in den Palast hinauf, den er für sie hatte erbauen lassen; denn er sagte: »Es soll keine meiner Frauen im Hause Davids, des Königs von Israel, wohnen; denn das sind heilige Stätten, seitdem die Lade des HERRN in sie eingezogen ist.«
12 In those times Solomon offered holocausts to the LORD upon the altar of the LORD which he had built in front of the porch,	12 Damals brachte Salomo dem HERRN Brandopfer dar auf dem Altar, den er dem HERRN vor der Vorhalle errichtet hatte,
13 as was required day by day according to the command of Moses, and in particular on the sabbaths, at the new moons, and on the fixed festivals three times a year: on the feast of the Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and the feast of Booths.	13 und zwar so, daß er daselbst das opferte, was nach dem Gebot Moses an jedem Tage erforderlich war: an den Sabbaten, an den Neumonden und dreimal im Jahr an den Festen, nämlich am Fest der ungesäuerten Brote und am Wochenfest und am Laubhüttenfest.
14 And according to the ordinance of his father David he appointed the various classes of the priests for their service, and the Levites according to their functions of praise and ministry alongside the priests, as the daily duty required. The gatekeepers of the various classes stood guard at each gate, since such was the command of David, the man of God.	14 Auch bestellte er nach der Anordnung seines Vaters David die Abteilungen der Priester zu ihrem Dienst und die Leviten zu ihren Amtsverrichtungen, so daß sie die Lobgesänge anzustimmen hatten und den Priestern zur Hand gingen, wie jeder einzelne Tag es erforderte; ebenso die Torhüter nach ihren Abteilungen für die einzelnen Tore; denn so bestimmte es der Befehl Davids, des Mannes Gottes;
15 There was no deviation from the king's command in any respect relating to the priests and Levites or the treasuries.	15 und man wich in keinem Punkt von dem Gebot des Königs in betreff der Priester und der Leviten ab, auch nicht in betreff der Schatzkammern. –
16 All of Solomon's work was carried out successfully from the day the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid until the house of the LORD had been completed in every detail.	16 So wurde denn das ganze Werk Salomos vom Tage der Grundlegung des Tempels des HERRN an bis zu dessen Vollendung zur Ausführung gebracht, bis der Tempel des HERRN fertig dastand.
17 In those times Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Elath on the seashore of the land of Edom.	17 Damals begab sich Salomo nach Ezjon-Geber und nach Eloth (oder: Elath; 1.Kön 9,26) an der Küste des (Roten) Meeres im Lande der Edomiter;
18 Huram, through his servants, sent him ships and crewmen acquainted with the sea, who accompanied Solomon's servants to Ophir and brought back from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold to King Solomon.	18 Huram aber sandte ihm durch seine Leute Schiffe und seekundige Leute, die zusammen mit Salomos Leuten nach Ophir fuhren und von dort 450 Talente Gold (vgl. 1.Chr 29,4) holten und es dem König Salomo überbrachten.
