1 כה אמר יהוה אי זה ספר כריתות אמכם אשר שלחתיה או מי מנושי אשר מכרתי אתכם לו הן בעונתיכם נמכרתם ובפשעיכם שלחה אמכם	1 Thus says Yahweh: Where is your mother's writ of divorce by which I repudiated her? Or to which ofmy creditors have I sold you? Look, you have been sold for your own misdeeds, your mother was repudiated foryour acts of rebel ion.
2 מדוע באתי ואין איש קראתי ואין עונה הקצור קצרה ידי מפדות ואם אין בי כח להציל הן בגערתי אחריב ים אשים נהרות מדבר תבאש דגתם מאין מים ותמת בצמא	2 Why was there no one there when I came? Why did no one answer when I cal ed? Is my hand too shortto redeem? Have I not strength to save? Look, with a threat I can dry the sea, and turn rivers to desert; the fishin them go rotten for want of water and die of thirst.
3 אלביש שמים קדרות ושק אשים כסותם	3 I dress the heavens in black, I cover them in sackcloth.
4 אדני יהוה נתן לי לשון למודים לדעת לעות את יעף דבר יעיר בבקר בבקר יעיר לי אזן לשמע כלמודים	4 Lord Yahweh has given me a disciple's tongue, for me to know how to give a word of comfort to theweary. Morning by morning he makes my ear alert to listen like a disciple.
5 אדני יהוה פתח לי אזן ואנכי לא מריתי אחור לא נסוגתי	5 Lord Yahweh has opened my ear and I have not resisted, I have not turned away.
6 גוי נתתי למכים ולחיי למרטים פני לא הסתרתי מכלמות ורק	6 I have offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard; I have notturned my face away from insult and spitting.
7 ואדני יהוה יעזר לי על כן לא נכלמתי על כן שמתי פני כחלמיש ואדע כי לא אבוש	7 Lord Yahweh comes to my help, this is why insult has not touched me, this is why I have set my facelike flint and know that I shal not be put to shame.
8 קרוב מצדיקי מי יריב אתי נעמדה יחד מי בעל משפטי יגש אלי	8 He who grants me saving justice is near! Who wil bring a case against me? Let us appear in courttogether! Who has a case against me? Let him approach me!
9 הן אדני יהוה יעזר לי מי הוא ירשיעני הן כלם כבגד יבלו עש יאכלם	9 Look, Lord Yahweh is coming to my help! Who dares condemn me? Look at them, al fal ing apart likemoth-eaten clothes!
10 מי בכם ירא יהוה שמע בקול עבדו אשר הלך חשכים ואין נגה לו יבטח בשם יהוה וישען באלהיו	10 Which of you fears Yahweh and listens to his servant's voice? Which of you walks in darkness andsees no light? Let him trust in the name of Yahweh and lean on his God!
11 הן כלכם קדחי אש מאזרי זיקות לכו באור אשכם ובזיקות בערתם מידי היתה זאת לכם למעצבה תשכבון	11 Look, al you who light a fire and arm yourselves with firebrands, walk by the light of your fire and thefirebrands you have kindled! This is what you will get from me: you wil lie down in torment!
