LXX	NEW JERUSALEM
1 και εγενετο μετα την πληγην και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην και προς ελεαζαρ τον ιερεα λεγων	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 λαβε την αρχην πασης συναγωγης υιων ισραηλ απο εικοσαετους και επανω κατ' οικους πατριων αυτων πας ο εκπορευομενος παραταξασθαι εν ισραηλ	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'
3 και ελαλησεν μωυσης και ελεαζαρ ο ιερευς εν αραβωθ μωαβ επι του ιορδανου κατα ιεριχω λεγων	3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted
4 απο εικοσαετους και επανω ον τροπον συνεταξεν κυριος τω μωυση και οι υιοι ισραηλ οι εξελθοντες εξ αιγυπτου	4 (as Yahweh had ordered Moses and the Israelites after leaving Egypt) men of twenty years and over:
5 ρουβην πρωτοτοκος ισραηλ υιοι δε ρουβην ενωχ και δημος του ενωχ τω φαλλου δημος του φαλλουι	5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel. The sons of Reuben: for Hanoch, the Hanochite clan; for Pal u, thePal uite clan;
6 τω ασρων δημος του ασρωνι τω χαρμι δημος του χαρμι	6 for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Carmi, the Carmite clan.
7 ουτοι δημοι ρουβην και εγενετο η επισκεψις αυτων τρεις και τεσσαρακοντα χιλιαδες και επτακοσιοι και τριακοντα	7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.
8 και υιοι φαλλου ελιαβ	8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 και υιοι ελιαβ ναμουηλ και δαθαν και αβιρων ουτοι επικλητοι της συναγωγης ουτοι εισιν οι επισυσταντες επι μωυσην και ααρων εν τη συναγωγη κορε εν τη επισυστασει κυριου	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 και ανοιξασα η γη το στομα αυτης κατεπιεν αυτους και κορε εν τω θανατω της συναγωγης αυτου οτε κατεφαγεν το πυρ τους πεντηκοντα και διακοσιους και εγενηθησαν εν σημειω	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 οι δε υιοι κορε ουκ απεθανον	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.
12 και οι υιοι συμεων ο δημος των υιων συμεων τω ναμουηλ δημος ο ναμουηλι τω ιαμιν δημος ο ιαμινι τω ιαχιν δημος ο ιαχινι	12 The sons of Simeon by clans: for Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; for Jamin, the Jaminite clan; forJachin, the Jachinite clan;
13 τω ζαρα δημος ο ζαραι τω σαουλ δημος ο σαουλι	13 for Zerah, the Zerahite clan; for Shaul, the Shaulite clan.
14 ουτοι δημοι συμεων εκ της επισκεψεως αυτων δυο και εικοσι χιλιαδες και διακοσιοι	14 These were the Simeonite clans. They numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred men.
15 υιοι δε ιουδα ηρ και αυναν και απεθανεν ηρ και αυναν εν γη χανααν	15 The sons of Gad by clans: for Zephon, the Zephonite clan; for Haggi, the Haggite clan; for Shuni, theShunite clan;
16 εγενοντο δε οι υιοι ιουδα κατα δημους αυτων τω σηλων δημος ο σηλωνι τω φαρες δημος ο φαρες τω ζαρα δημος ο ζαραι	16 for Ozni, the Oznite clan; for Eri, the Erite clan;
17 και εγενοντο υιοι φαρες τω ασρων δημος ο ασρωνι τω ιαμουν δημος ο ιαμουνι	17 for Arod, the Arodite clan; for Areli, the Arelite clan.
18 ουτοι δημοι τω ιουδα κατα την επισκοπην αυτων εξ και εβδομηκοντα χιλιαδες και πεντακοσιοι	18 These were the clans of the sons of Gad. They numbered forty thousand five hundred men.
19 και υιοι ισσαχαρ κατα δημους αυτων τω θωλα δημος ο θωλαι τω φουα δημος ο φουαι	19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 τω ιασουβ δημος ο ιασουβι τω σαμαραν δημος ο σαμαρανι	20 The other sons of Judah became clans: for Shelah, the Shelahite clan; for Perez, the Perezzite clan;for Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21 ουτοι δημοι ισσαχαρ εξ επισκεψεως αυτων τεσσαρες και εξηκοντα χιλιαδες και τριακοσιοι	21 The sons of Perez were: for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 υιοι ζαβουλων κατα δημους αυτων τω σαρεδ δημος ο σαρεδι τω αλλων δημος ο αλλωνι τω αλληλ δημος ο αλληλι	22 These were the clans of Judah. They numbered seventy-six thousand five hundred men.
23 ουτοι δημοι ζαβουλων εξ επισκεψεως αυτων εξηκοντα χιλιαδες και πεντακοσιοι	23 The sons of Issachar by clans: for Tola, the Tolaite clan; for Puvah, the Puvahite clan;
24 υιοι γαδ κατα δημους αυτων τω σαφων δημος ο σαφωνι τω αγγι δημος ο αγγι τω σουνι δημος ο σουνι	24 for Jashub, the Jashubite clan; for Shimron, the Shimronite clan.
25 τω αζενι δημος ο αζενι τω αδδι δημος ο αδδι	25 These were the clans of Issachar. They numbered sixty-four thousand three hundred men.
26 τω αροαδι δημος ο αροαδι τω αριηλ δημος ο αριηλι	26 The sons of Zebulun by clans: for Sered, the Seredite clan; for Elon, the Elonite clan; for Jahleel, theJahleelite clan.
27 ουτοι δημοι υιων γαδ εξ επισκεψεως αυτων τεσσαρακοντα χιλιαδες και πεντακοσιοι	27 These were the clans of Zebulun. They numbered sixty thousand five hundred men.
28 υιοι ασηρ κατα δημους αυτων τω ιαμιν δημος ο ιαμινι τω ιεσου δημος ο ιεσουι τω βαρια δημος ο βαριαι	28 The sons of Joseph by clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29 τω χοβερ δημος ο χοβερι τω μελχιηλ δημος ο μελχιηλι	29 The sons of Manasseh: for Machir, the Machirite clan; Machir fathered Gilead: for Gilead, theGileadite clan.
30 και το ονομα θυγατρος ασηρ σαρα	30 These were the sons of Gilead: for Iezer, the Iezerite clan; for Helek, the Helekite clan;
31 ουτοι δημοι ασηρ εξ επισκεψεως αυτων τρεις και πεντηκοντα χιλιαδες και τετρακοσιοι	31 Asriel, the Asrielite clan; Shechem, the Shechemite clan;
32 υιοι ιωσηφ κατα δημους αυτων μανασση και εφραιμ	32 Shemida, the Shemidaite clan; Hepher, the Hepherite clan.
33 υιοι μανασση τω μαχιρ δημος ο μαχιρι και μαχιρ εγεννησεν τον γαλααδ τω γαλααδ δημος ο γαλααδι	33 Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters; the names of Zelophehad's daughterswere Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.
34 και ουτοι υιοι γαλααδ τω αχιεζερ δημος ο αχιεζερι τω χελεγ δημος ο χελεγι	34 These were the clans of Manasseh. They numbered fifty-two thousand seven hundred men.
35 τω εσριηλ δημος ο εσριηλι τω συχεμ δημος ο συχεμι	35 These were the sons of Ephraim by clans: for Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; for Becher, theBecherite clan; for Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36 τω συμαερ δημος ο συμαερι και τω οφερ δημος ο οφερι	36 These were the sons of Shuthelah: for Eran, the Eranite clan.
37 και τω σαλπααδ υιω οφερ ουκ εγενοντο αυτω υιοι αλλ' η θυγατερες και ταυτα τα ονοματα των θυγατερων σαλπααδ μαλα και νουα και εγλα και μελχα και θερσα	37 These were the clans of Ephraim. They numbered thirty-two thousand five hundred men. Thesewere the sons of Joseph by clans.
38 ουτοι δημοι μανασση εξ επισκεψεως αυτων δυο και πεντηκοντα χιλιαδες και επτακοσιοι	38 The sons of Benjamin by clans: for Bela, the Belaite clan; for Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; for Ahiram,the Ahiramite clan;
39 και ουτοι υιοι εφραιμ τω σουταλα δημος ο σουταλαι τω ταναχ δημος ο ταναχι	39 for Shephupham, the Shephuphamite clan; for Hupham, the Huphamite clan.
40 ουτοι υιοι σουταλα τω εδεν δημος ο εδενι	40 Bela's sons were Ard and Naaman; for Ard, the Ardite clan; for Naaman, the Naamanite clan.
41 ουτοι δημοι εφραιμ εξ επισκεψεως αυτων δυο και τριακοντα χιλιαδες και πεντακοσιοι ουτοι δημοι υιων ιωσηφ κατα δημους αυτων	41 These were the sons of Benjamin by clans. They numbered forty-five thousand six hundred men.
42 υιοι βενιαμιν κατα δημους αυτων τω βαλε δημος ο βαλει τω ασυβηρ δημος ο ασυβηρι τω ιαχιραν δημος ο ιαχιρανι	42 These were the sons of Dan by clans: for Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the sons of Danby clans.
43 τω σωφαν δημος ο σωφανι	43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred men.
44 και εγενοντο οι υιοι βαλε αδαρ και νοεμαν τω αδαρ δημος ο αδαρι τω νοεμαν δημος ο νοεμανι	44 The sons of Asher by clans: for Imnah, the Imnahite clan; for Ishvi, the Ishvihite clan; for Beriah, theBeriahite clan.
45 ουτοι υιοι βενιαμιν κατα δημους αυτων εξ επισκεψεως αυτων πεντε και τεσσαρακοντα χιλιαδες και εξακοσιοι	45 For the sons of Beriah: for Heber, the Heberite clan; for Malchiel, the Malchielite clan.
46 και υιοι δαν κατα δημους αυτων τω σαμι δημος ο σαμι ουτοι δημοι δαν κατα δημους αυτων	46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.
47 παντες οι δημοι σαμι κατ' επισκοπην αυτων τεσσαρες και εξηκοντα χιλιαδες και τετρακοσιοι	47 These were the clans of Asher. They numbered fifty-three thousand four hundred men.
48 υιοι νεφθαλι κατα δημους αυτων τω ασιηλ δημος ο ασιηλι τω γαυνι δημος ο γαυνι	48 The sons of Naphtali by clans: for Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; for Guni, the Gunite clan;
49 τω ιεσερ δημος ο ιεσερι τω σελλημ δημος ο σελλημι	49 for Jezer, the Jezerite clan; for Shil em, the Shil emite clan.
50 ουτοι δημοι νεφθαλι εξ επισκεψεως αυτων πεντε και τεσσαρακοντα χιλιαδες και τετρακοσιοι	50 These were the clans of Naphtali as divided into clans. The sons of Naphtali numbered forty-fivethousand four hundred men.
51 αυτη η επισκεψις υιων ισραηλ εξακοσιαι χιλιαδες και χιλιοι και επτακοσιοι και τριακοντα	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 και ελαλησεν κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 τουτοις μερισθησεται η γη κληρονομειν εξ αριθμου ονοματων	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 τοις πλειοσιν πλεονασεις την κληρονομιαν και τοις ελαττοσιν ελαττωσεις την κληρονομιαν αυτων εκαστω καθως επεσκεπησαν δοθησεται η κληρονομια αυτων	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 δια κληρων μερισθησεται η γη τοις ονομασιν κατα φυλας πατριων αυτων κληρονομησουσιν	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 εκ του κληρου μεριεις την κληρονομιαν αυτων ανα μεσον πολλων και ολιγων	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 και υιοι λευι κατα δημους αυτων τω γεδσων δημος ο γεδσωνι τω κααθ δημος ο κααθι τω μεραρι δημος ο μεραρι	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 ουτοι δημοι υιων λευι δημος ο λοβενι δημος ο χεβρωνι δημος ο κορε και δημος ο μουσι και κααθ εγεννησεν τον αμραμ	58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.
59 και το ονομα της γυναικος αυτου ιωχαβεδ θυγατηρ λευι η ετεκεν τουτους τω λευι εν αιγυπτω και ετεκεν τω αμραμ τον ααρων και μωυσην και μαριαμ την αδελφην αυτων	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 και εγεννηθησαν τω ααρων ο τε ναδαβ και αβιουδ και ελεαζαρ και ιθαμαρ	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 και απεθανεν ναδαβ και αβιουδ εν τω προσφερειν αυτους πυρ αλλοτριον εναντι κυριου εν τη ερημω σινα	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 και εγενηθησαν εξ επισκεψεως αυτων τρεις και εικοσι χιλιαδες παν αρσενικον απο μηνιαιου και επανω ου γαρ συνεπεσκεπησαν εν μεσω υιων ισραηλ οτι ου διδοται αυτοις κληρος εν μεσω υιων ισραηλ	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 και αυτη η επισκεψις μωυση και ελεαζαρ του ιερεως οι επεσκεψαντο τους υιους ισραηλ εν αραβωθ μωαβ επι του ιορδανου κατα ιεριχω	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.
64 και εν τουτοις ουκ ην ανθρωπος των επεσκεμμενων υπο μωυση και ααρων ους επεσκεψαντο τους υιους ισραηλ εν τη ερημω σινα	64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;
65 οτι ειπεν κυριος αυτοις θανατω αποθανουνται εν τη ερημω και ου κατελειφθη εξ αυτων ουδε εις πλην χαλεβ υιος ιεφοννη και ιησους ο του ναυη	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
