και ειπεν δαυιδ ο βασιλευς παση τη εκκλησια σαλωμων ο υιος μου εις ον ηρετικεν εν αυτω κυριος νεος και απαλος και το εργον μεγα οτι ουκ ανθρωπω η οικοδομη αλλ' η κυριω θεω1 And king David spoke to the entire assembly: “My son Solomon, the one God has chosen, is still a tender boy. And yet the work is great, for a habitation is being prepared, not for man, but for God.
κατα πασαν την δυναμιν ητοιμακα εις οικον θεου μου χρυσιον αργυριον χαλκον σιδηρον ξυλα λιθους σοομ και πληρωσεως και λιθους πολυτελεις και ποικιλους και παντα λιθον τιμιον και παριον πολυν2 Now with all my ability, I have prepared the expenses for the house of my God: gold for items of gold, and silver for those of silver, brass for those of brass, iron for those of iron, and wood for those of wood, and stones of onyx, and stones like alabaster, and stones of diverse colors, and every kind of precious stone, and marble from Paros in great abundance.
και ετι εν τω ευδοκησαι με εν οικω θεου μου εστιν μοι ο περιπεποιημαι χρυσιον και αργυριον και ιδου δεδωκα εις οικον θεου μου εις υψος εκτος ων ητοιμακα εις τον οικον των αγιων3 And in addition to these things that I have offered into the house of my God, I give, from my own belongings, gold and silver for the temple of my God, aside from those things that I have prepared for the holy shrine:
τρισχιλια ταλαντα χρυσιου του εκ σουφιρ και επτακισχιλια ταλαντα αργυριου δοκιμου εξαλειφθηναι εν αυτοις τους τοιχους του ιερου4 three thousand talents of gold, from the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of highly-refined silver, for the gilding of the walls of the temple;
δια χειρος τεχνιτων και τις ο προθυμουμενος πληρωσαι τας χειρας αυτου σημερον κυριω5 and gold for wherever there is need of gold, and silver for wherever there is need of silver, for the works to be done by the hands of the artisans. And if anyone freely offers, let him fill his hand this day, and let him offer whatever he wishes to the Lord.”
και προεθυμηθησαν αρχοντες των πατριων και οι αρχοντες των υιων ισραηλ και οι χιλιαρχοι και οι εκατονταρχοι και οι προσταται των εργων και οι οικονομοι του βασιλεως6 And so the leaders of the families, and the nobles of the tribes of Israel, as well as the tribunes and the centurions and the overseers of the king’s possessions, promised
και εδωκαν εις τα εργα οικου κυριου χρυσιου ταλαντα πεντακισχιλια και χρυσους μυριους και αργυριου ταλαντων δεκα χιλιαδας και χαλκου ταλαντα μυρια οκτακισχιλια και σιδηρου ταλαντων χιλιαδας εκατον7 and gave, for the works of the house of the Lord, five thousand talents and ten thousand pieces of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and also one hundred thousand talents of iron.
και οις ευρεθη παρ' αυτοις λιθος εδωκαν εις τας αποθηκας οικου κυριου δια χειρος ιιηλ του γηρσωνι8 And whoever found precious stones among their belongings gave them to the treasuries of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
και ευφρανθη ο λαος υπερ του προθυμηθηναι οτι εν καρδια πληρει προεθυμηθησαν τω κυριω και δαυιδ ο βασιλευς ευφρανθη μεγαλως9 And the people rejoiced, since they were promising their votive offerings willingly. For they were offering these to the Lord with all their heart. And king David also rejoiced with great gladness.
και ευλογησεν ο βασιλευς δαυιδ τον κυριον ενωπιον της εκκλησιας λεγων ευλογητος ει κυριε ο θεος ισραηλ ο πατηρ ημων απο του αιωνος και εως του αιωνος10 And he blessed the Lord before the entire multitude, and he said: “Blessed are you, O Lord God of Israel, our Father from eternity to eternity.
σοι κυριε η μεγαλωσυνη και η δυναμις και το καυχημα και η νικη και η ισχυς οτι συ παντων των εν τω ουρανω και επι της γης δεσποζεις απο προσωπου σου ταρασσεται πας βασιλευς και εθνος11 Yours, O Lord, is magnificence and power and glory, and also victory; and to you is praise. For all the things that are in heaven and on earth are yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are above all rulers.
παρα σου ο πλουτος και η δοξα συ παντων αρχεις κυριε ο αρχων πασης αρχης και εν χειρι σου ισχυς και δυναστεια και εν χειρι σου παντοκρατωρ μεγαλυναι και κατισχυσαι τα παντα12 Yours is wealth, and yours is glory. You have dominion over all things. In your hand is virtue and power. In your hand is greatness and authority over all things.
και νυν κυριε εξομολογουμεθα σοι και αινουμεν το ονομα της καυχησεως σου13 Now therefore, we confess to you, our God, and we praise your famous name.
και τις ειμι εγω και τις ο λαος μου οτι ισχυσαμεν προθυμηθηναι σοι κατα ταυτα οτι σα τα παντα και εκ των σων δεδωκαμεν σοι14 Who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to promise all these things to you? All is yours. And so the things that we received from your hand, we have given to you.
οτι παροικοι εσμεν εναντιον σου και παροικουντες ως παντες οι πατερες ημων ως σκια αι ημεραι ημων επι γης και ουκ εστιν υπομονη15 For we are sojourners and new arrivals before you, as all our fathers were. Our days upon the earth are like a shadow, and there is no delay.
κυριε ο θεος ημων παν το πληθος τουτο ο ητοιμακα οικοδομηθηναι οικον τω ονοματι τω αγιω σου εκ χειρος σου εστιν και σοι τα παντα16 O Lord our God, all this abundance, which we have prepared so that a house may be built to your holy name, is from your hand, and all things are yours.
και εγνων κυριε οτι συ ει ο εταζων καρδιας και δικαιοσυνην αγαπας εν απλοτητι καρδιας προεθυμηθην παντα ταυτα και νυν τον λαον σου τον ευρεθεντα ωδε ειδον εν ευφροσυνη προθυμηθεντα σοι17 I know, my God, that you test hearts, and that you love simplicity. Therefore, in the simplicity of my heart, I also have offered all these things joyfully. And I have seen, with immense gladness, your people, who have been found here, offering their donations to you.
κυριε ο θεος αβρααμ και ισαακ και ισραηλ των πατερων ημων φυλαξον ταυτα εν διανοια καρδιας λαου σου εις τον αιωνα και κατευθυνον τας καρδιας αυτων προς σε18 O Lord, the God of our fathers Abraham and Isaac and Israel, preserve unto eternity this desire of their heart, and let this purpose remain forever, for the worship of you.
και σαλωμων τω υιω μου δος καρδιαν αγαθην ποιειν τας εντολας σου και τα μαρτυρια σου και τα προσταγματα σου και του επι τελος αγαγειν την κατασκευην του οικου σου19 Also, I give to my son Solomon a perfect heart, so that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your ceremonies, and so that he may accomplish all things, and may build the temple, for which I have prepared the expenses.”
και ειπεν δαυιδ παση τη εκκλησια ευλογησατε κυριον τον θεον υμων και ευλογησεν πασα η εκκλησια κυριον τον θεον των πατερων αυτων και καμψαντες τα γονατα προσεκυνησαν τω κυριω και τω βασιλει20 Then David instructed the entire assembly: “Bless the Lord our God.” And the entire assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers. And they bowed themselves, and they adored God, and next they reverenced the king.
And they offered holocausts on the following day: one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, one thousand lambs, with their libations and with every ritual, very abundantly, for all of Israel.
και εφαγον και επιον εναντιον κυριου εν εκεινη τη ημερα μετα χαρας και εβασιλευσαν εκ δευτερου τον σαλωμων υιον δαυιδ και εχρισαν αυτον τω κυριω εις βασιλεα και σαδωκ εις ιερωσυνην22 And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day, with great rejoicing. And they anointed Solomon, the son of David, a second time. And they anointed him to the Lord as the ruler, and Zadok as the high priest.
και εκαθισεν σαλωμων επι θρονου δαυιδ του πατρος αυτου και ευδοκηθη και επηκουσαν αυτου πας ισραηλ23 And Solomon sat upon the throne of the Lord as king, in place of his father David, and it pleased everyone. And all of Israel obeyed him.
οι αρχοντες και οι δυνασται και παντες υιοι του βασιλεως δαυιδ πατρος αυτου υπεταγησαν αυτω24 Moreover, all the leaders, and the powerful, and all the sons of king David pledged with their hand, and they became subject to king Solomon.
και εμεγαλυνεν κυριος τον σαλωμων επανωθεν εναντιον παντος ισραηλ και εδωκεν αυτω δοξαν βασιλεως ο ουκ εγενετο επι παντος βασιλεως εμπροσθεν αυτου25 Then the Lord magnified Solomon over all of Israel. And he gave to him a glorious reign, of a kind such as no one has had before him, as king of Israel.
και δαυιδ υιος ιεσσαι εβασιλευσεν επι ισραηλ26 Now David, the son of Jesse, reigned over all of Israel.
ετη τεσσαρακοντα εν χεβρων ετη επτα και εν ιερουσαλημ ετη τριακοντα τρια27 And the days during which he reigned over Israel were forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
και ετελευτησεν εν γηρει καλω πληρης ημερων πλουτω και δοξη και εβασιλευσεν σαλωμων υιος αυτου αντ' αυτου28 And he died at a good old age, full of days and wealth and glory. And his son Solomon reigned in his place.
οι δε λοιποι λογοι του βασιλεως δαυιδ οι προτεροι και οι υστεροι γεγραμμενοι εισιν εν λογοις σαμουηλ του βλεποντος και επι λογων ναθαν του προφητου και επι λογων γαδ του βλεποντος29 Now the acts of king David, from the first to the last, have been written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,
περι πασης της βασιλειας αυτου και της δυναστειας αυτου και οι καιροι οι εγενοντο επ' αυτω και επι τον ισραηλ και επι πασας βασιλειας της γης .30 concerning his entire reign and strength, and the times that passed under him, both in Israel and in all the kingdoms of the lands.
