1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.	1 Coup de trompette du cinquième ange! J’ai vu un astre du ciel qui tombait sur la terre. On lui a donné la clé du puits de l’Abîme.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.	2 Voilà qu’il ouvre le puits de l’Abîme et du puits sort de la fumée. C’est comme la fumée d’une énorme fournaise, le soleil et l’atmosphère sont obscurcis par la fumée du puits.
3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.	3 De la fumée sortent des sauterelles qui se répandent sur la terre, aussi dangereuses que les scorpions de la terre,
4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.	4 et on leur donne l’ordre de s’attaquer, non pas à l’herbe des champs ni à la verdure ni aux arbres, mais aux personnes qui n’ont pas sur leur front la marque du Dieu vivant.
5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.	5 Elles ne vont pas les tuer mais les faire souffrir terriblement durant cinq mois. Ces gens-là vont souffrir comme on souffre après une piqûre de scorpion.
6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.	6 En ces jours-là les hommes chercheront la mort et elle ne viendra pas; ils auront beau vouloir mourir, la mort leur échappera.
7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.	7 Ces sauterelles ont l’allure de chevaux équipés pour la guerre. Elles ont, semble-t-il, des couronnes d’or sur la tête; leur visage est un visage humain,
8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.	8 leur chevelure est comme une chevelure de femmes et elles ont des dents de lion;
9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.	9 elles portent des cuirasses métalliques. Leurs ailes font le même bruit qu’une armée de chars avec leurs chevaux quand ils se lancent à l’attaque.
10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.	10 Leur queue est comme celle des scorpions, avec un aiguillon, et c’est leur queue qui est dangereuse et qui fait souffrir les gens durant cinq mois.
11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.	11 Elles ont pour roi l’ange de l’abîme qu’on appelle en hébreu Abaddon, et en grec Apolyon [en français Perdition].
12 One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.	12 Voilà le premier Malheur. Aussitôt qu’il est passé, les deux autres arrivent.
13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,	13 Coup de trompette du sixième ange! J’entends alors une voix qui sort des quatre cornes de l’autel de l’encens, l’autel d’or juste devant Dieu;
14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.	14 un ordre est donné à l’ange de la sixième trompette: "Libère les quatre anges retenus au bord du grand fleuve, l’Euphrate.”
15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.	15 Et voilà que sont relâchés les quatre anges qui attendaient l’année, le mois, le jour et l’heure où ils devaient exterminer le tiers de l’humanité.
16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.	16 Le nombre des combattants de leur cavalerie s’élève à vingt mille fois dix mille. C’est le nombre que j’ai entendu.
17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.	17 Voilà comment j’ai vu les chevaux et ceux qui les montent. Ils ont des cuirasses couleur de feu avec du violet et du jaune. Les chevaux ont une tête semblable à celle d’un lion et leur bouche projette du feu, de la fumée et du soufre.
18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.	18 Un tiers de l’humanité a été exterminé par ces trois fléaux: le feu, la fumée et le soufre qui sortent de leur bouche.
19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.	19 les chevaux sont redoutables à cause de leur tête, mais aussi à cause de leurs queues. Ces queues sont comme des serpents avec une tête au bout, et c’est cette tête qui est redoutable.
20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:	20 Les survivants, ceux qui n’étaient pas morts de ces fléaux, ne se sont pas détournés des œuvres de leurs mains. Ils ont continué d’adorer les démons, avec ces idoles d’or, d’argent, de bronze, de fer et de bois, qui sont incapables de voir ou d’entendre ou de marcher.
21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.	21 Et ils ne se sont pas repentis de leurs meurtres, de leurs sorcelleries, de leur débauche et de leurs vols.
