1 Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,	1 Nello stesso tempo Giosuè chiamò a se i Rabeniti, e i Gaditi, e la mezza tribù di Manasse.
2 And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:	2 E disse loro: Voi avete adempito tutto quello che a voi comandò Mosè servo del Signore: e a me pure siete stati in tutto obbedienti.
3 Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.	3 E per un lungo spazio di tempo fino al di d'oggi non avete abbandonati i vostri fratelli, eseguendo gli ordini del Signore Dio vostro.
4 And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.	4 Giacché adunque il Signore Dio vostro ha dato tranquillità e pace a’ vostri fratelli, conforme promise; partitevi, e andate alle vostre tende, e alla terrà di vostro dominio assegnata a voi da Mosè servo del Signore di là dal Giordano:
5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.	5 Questo solo io chieggo, che osserviate attentamente, e mettiate in esecuzione i comandamenti, e le leggi prescritte a voi da Mosé servo del Signore, che amiate il Signore Dio vostro, e camminiate per tutte le sue vie, e adempiate i suoi precetti, e stiate uniti con lui, e lo serviate con tutto il cuore, e con tutta l'anima vostra.
6 So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.	6 E Giosuè li benedisse, e licenziolli, ed eglino se ne tornarono alle loro tende.
7 Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given possession in Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,	7 Imperocché alla mezza tribù di Manasse avea data Mosè la porzione in Basan: e all'altra metà diede Giosuè la sua parte in mezzo a' suoi fratelli di qua dal Giordano all’occidente. E avendoli benedetti, in licenziandoli,
8 And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.	8 Disse loro: Voi ve ne tornate a' luoghi vostri carichi di beni, e di ricchezze, e di argento e di oro, di rame, e ferro, e di vestimenta d'ogni sorta: dividete la preda tolta a' nemici co’ vostri fratelli.
9 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.	9 E se ne andarono, e si separarono i figliuoli di Ruben, e i figliuoli di Gad, e la mezza tribù di Manasse da' figliuoli d'Israele in Silo, che è nella Cananea per tornare in Galaad, paese ad essi assegnato da Mosè secondo l'ordine del Signore.
10 And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.	10 E giunti che furono alle dune del Giordano nella terra di Canaan, edificarono presso al Giordano un altare d'immensa grandezza.
11 And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the chidren of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.	11 La qual cosa essendo stata udita da' figliuoli d'Israele, ed essendo stato ad essi riferito da avvisi sicuri, come Ruben e Gad, e la mezza tribù di Manasse avevano edificato un altare nella terra di Canaan sulle dune del Giordano, dirimpetto a’ figliuoli d'Israele;
12 And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.	12 Si adunarono tutti questi a Silo per andare a combattere contro di quelli:
13 And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,	13 E frattanto spediron loro nella terra di Galaad Phinees figliuolo di Eleazaro sommo sacerdote.
14 And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.	14 E con lui dieci principi, uno per ogni tribù.
15 And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spake with them, saying,	15 I quali andarono a trovare i figliuoli di Ruben, e di Gad, e della mezza tribù di Manasse nella terra di Galaad, e disser loro:
16 Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?	16 Queste cose manda a dire a voi tutto il popolo del Signore: Qual prevaricazione è mai questa? per qual motivo avete voi abbandonato il Signore Dio d'Israele, edificando un altare sacrilego, e ritraendovi dal culto di lui?
17 Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,	17 È egli forse poco per voi l'aver peccato a causa di Beelphegor, onde fino al presente resta sopra di noi l'infamia di tal delitto, per cui periron molti del popolo?
18 But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.	18 E voi oggi avete abbandonato il Signore, e domane l'ira di lui infierirà contro tutto Israele.
19 Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.	19 Che se voi credete che impura sia la terra del dominio vostro, trasferitevi in quella, dov'è il tabernacolo del Signore, e abitate tra di noi; con patto solamente che voi non vi ritiriate dal Signore, nè dalla nostra società, alzando un altare oltre l'altare del Signore Dio nostro.
20 Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.	20 Non è egli vero che Achan figliuolo di Zare trasgredì gli ordini del Signore, e l'ira di lui piombò sopra tutto il popolo d'Israele? Ed egli era un sol uomo, ma piacesse a Dio che egli solo fosse perito pel suo peccato.
21 Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,	21 Risposero i figliuoli di Ruben, e di Gad, e della mezza tribù di Manasse a' principi ambasciatori d'Israele:
22 The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,)	22 Il fortissimo Dio Signore, il fortissimo Dio Signore egli sa, e lo comprenderà anch'Israele: se con ispirito di ribellione abbiam fabbricato questo altare, egli non ci protegga, ma ci punisca fin da adesso.
23 That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;	23 E se Io abbiamo fatto con intenzione di imporvi sopra olocausti, e sacrifizii, e vittime pacifiche, ne faccia egli disamina e pronunzii sentenza:
24 And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?	24 Se non piuttosto pensier nostro e nostro consiglio si fu che dicemmo che forse un dì i figliuoli vostri avrebber detto ai nostri figliuoli: Che avete a far voi col Signore Dio d'Israele?
25 For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.	25 Il Signore ha posto il fiume Giordano per confine tra noi, e voi, o figliuoli di Ruben, o figliuoli di Gad; onde non appartenete voi al Signore. E con simil pretesto i figliuoli vostri ritrar potrebbero i nostri figliuoli dal timore del Signore. Abbiamo adunque pensata meglio la cosa,
26 Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:	26 E abbiam detto: Facciamoci un altare non per gli olocausti, nè per le vittime da offerire;
27 But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.	27 Ma che serva di testimone tra noi, e voi, e tra la stirpe nostra, e i posteri vostri, come noi siamo servi del Signore, e abbiam diritto di offerire e olocausti, e vittime, e ostie pacifiche, e non dicano un dì i figliuoli vostri a' nostri figliuoli: Voi non appartenete al Signore.
28 Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.	28 E quando dir lo volessero, risponderan quegli a loro: Ecco l'altar del Signore fatto dai padri nostri non per gli olocausti, nè pe' sacrificii; ma qual testimone tra noi, e voi:
29 God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.	29 Lungi da noi questa scelleraggine di ritirarci dal Signore, e di abbandonare i suoi vestigii, alzando un altare per offerirvi olocausti, e sacrifizii, e ostie pacifiche, oltre l'altare del Signore Dio nostro eretto dinanzi al suo tabernacolo.
30 And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.	30 Le quali cose avendo udite Phinees sacerdote, e i principi ambasciatori d'Israele che eran con lui, si calmarono: e con grandissima soddisfazione accolsero le parole de’ figliuoli di Ruben, e di Gad, e della mezza tribù di Manasse.
31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.	31 E Phinees sacerdote figliuolo di Eleazaro disse loro: Or conosciamo, come il Signore è con noi, dappoiché voi siete alieni da tale prevaricazione, e avete con ciò sottratto Israele dalla vendetta del Signore.
32 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.	32 E lasciati i figliuoli di Ruben, e di Gad (e della mezza tribù di Manasse), se ne tornò insieme coi principi dalla terra di Galaad, che confina colla Cananea, a’ figliuoli d’Israele, e fece loro la sua relazione.
33 And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.	33 E il suo parlare fu grato a tutti quelli che l'udirono. E i figliuoli d'Israele dieder laudi a Dio, e non più parlarono di muoversi contro di loro per combatterli, e devastare la terra di loro dominio.
34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.	34 E i figliuoli di Ruben, e i figliuoli di Gad diedero questo titolo all'altare che avean fabbricato, Testimonianza nostra, come il Signore egli è Dio.
