KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.1 When I came to you, brothers, proclaiming the mystery of God, I did not come with sublimity of words or of wisdom.
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.3 I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling,
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:4 and my message and my proclamation were not with persuasive (words of) wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power,
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.5 so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:6 Yet we do speak a wisdom to those who are mature, but not a wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age who are passing away.
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:7 Rather, we speak God's wisdom, mysterious, hidden, which God predetermined before the ages for our glory,
Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.8 and which none of the rulers of this age knew; for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.9 But as it is written: "What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him,"
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.10 this God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit scrutinizes everything, even the depths of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.11 Among human beings, who knows what pertains to a person except the spirit of the person that is within? Similarly, no one knows what pertains to God except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the things freely given us by God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.13 And we speak about them not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, describing spiritual realities in spiritual terms.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.14 Now the natural person does not accept what pertains to the Spirit of God, for to him it is foolishness, and he cannot understand it, because it is judged spiritually.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.15 The spiritual person, however, can judge everything but is not subject to judgment by anyone.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.16 For "who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to counsel him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
