Romans 14

1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.	1 In quanto a colui che è debole nella fede, accoglietelo senza discuterne le opinioni.
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.	2 Altri crede di poter mangiare qualunque cosa; chi è debole mangi pure degli erbaggi.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.	3 Ma chi mangia non disprezzi colui che non mangia, e chi non mangia non condanni colui che mangia, perchè Dio l'ha fatto suo.
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.	4 E chi sei tu da condannare il servo altrui? O che egli stia ritto o cada, è cosa che riguarda il suo padrone; ma egli starà in piedi perchè Dio ha la potenza di sostenerlo.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.	5 Uno distingue tra giorno e giorno, un altro li fa tutti uguali: ognuno segua la sua coscienza.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.	6 Chi distingue i giorni, li distingue per amore del Signore; e chi mangia, lo fa per amore del Signore; infatti rende grazie a Dio. Ed anche chi non mangia, non mangia per amore del Signore e rende grazie a Dio.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.	7 Poichè nessuno di noi vive per se medesimo, nè per se stesso muore;
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.	8 ma se viviamo, viviamo pel Signore, e se moriamo, moriamo pel Signore. Sia che viviamo, sia che moriamo, siamo dunque del Signore;
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.	9 perchè Cristo è morto e risuscitato per essere Signore dei vivi e dei morti.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.	10 Ma tu perchè giudichi il tuo fratello? O perchè tu disprezzi il tuo fratello? Tutti invece compariremo davanti al tribunale di Cristo.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.	11 Sta scritto infatti: « Io sono il vivente, dice il Signore, e davanti a me si piegherà ogni ginocchio, ed ogni lingua darà gloria a Dio».
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.	12 Così adunque ognuno di noi renderà conto di se stesso a Dio.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.	13 Cessiamo adunque dal giudicarci a vicenda; ma guardiamo invece di non mettere inciampo o scandalo sulla via del fratello.
14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.	14 Io so e son persuaso nel Signore Gesù che nulla è in se stesso impuro; ma per colui che stima impura una cosa, essa per lui diventa impura.
15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.	15 Or se per un cibo fai rattristare il tuo fratello, tu non cammini più secondo la carità. Non rovinare col tuo cibo uno per il quale Cristo è morto.
16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:	16 Non sia dunque bestemmiato il nostro bene.
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.	17 Perché il regno di Dio non consiste nel mangiare e nel bere, ma è giustizia e pace e gaudio nello Spirito Santo.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.	18 Chi serve Cristo in questa maniera piace a Dio ed è approvato dagli uomini.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.	19 Cerchiamo dunque ciò che giova alla pace, e pratichiamo ciò che serve alla mutua edificazione.
20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.	20 Non voler per un cibo distruggere l'opera di Dio. Certamente tutte le cose sono pure, ma fa male un uomo che mangia scandalizzando.
21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.	21 Bene è non mangiar carne e non bere vino, nè fare alcuna cosa che sia per il tuo fratello occasione di caduta o di scandalo o di debolezza.
22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.	22 Tu hai una convinzione? Tientela per te dinanzi a Dio. Beato colui che non condanna se stesso in quello che sceglie.
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.	23 Ma chi fa distinzione, se mangia, è condannato, perchè non agisce secondo coscienza. Tutto ciò che non è secondo la coscienza è peccato.
