Deuteronomy 28

KING JAMES BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:	1 Si escuchas la voz del Señor, tu Dios, y te empeñas en practicar todos los mandamientos que hoy te prescribo, él te pondrá muy por encima de todas las naciones de la tierra.
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.	2 Y por haber escuchado la voz del Señor, tu Dios, vendrán sobre ti y te alcanzarán todas estas bendiciones:
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.	3 Bendito serás en la ciudad y bendito en el campo.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.	4 Benditos serán el fruto de tus entrarás y el fruto de tu suelo, los partos de tu ganado y las crías de tus vacas y tus ovejas.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.	5 Bendita será tu canasta y bendito el recipiente donde amasas tu pan.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.	6 Bendito serás al salir y bendito al entrar.
7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.	7 El Señor hará que caigan derrotados todos los enemigos que se alcen contra ti vendrán a atacarte por un camino y por siete caminos huirán de ti.
8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.	8 El Señor ordenará que la bendición esté contigo en tus graneros y en todas tus empresas, y te bendecirá en la tierra que él te da.
9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.	9 El Señor hará de ti su pueblo santo, como te lo juró, si cumples sus mandamientos y sigues sus caminos.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.	10 Entonces todos los pueblos de la tierra verán que tú eres llamado con el nombre del Señor, tu Dios, y te temerán.
11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.	11 El Señor te dará sobreabundancia de bienes en el fruto de tus entrañas, en las crías de tu ganado y en los productos de tu suelo, de la tierra que él te da, porque así lo juro a tus padres.
12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.	12 El te abrirá el cielo –su rico tesoro– para proveer de lluvia a tu tierra en el momento oportuno, y para bendecir todos tus trabajos. Serás acreedor de muchas naciones y deudor de ninguna.
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:	13 El Señor te podrá al frente, no detrás. Siempre estarás arriba, nunca abajo, con tal que obedezcas los mandamientos del Señor, tu Dios, que hoy te ordenó practicar cuidadosamente,
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.	14 sin apartarte, ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda. de las palabras que hoy te prescribo, y sin ir detrás de otros dioses para servirlos.
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:	15 Pero si no escuchas la voz del Señor, tu Dios y no te empeñas en practicar todos los mandamientos y preceptos que hoy te prescribo, caerán sobre ti y te alcanzarán todas estas maldiciones:
16 Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.	16 Maldito serás en la ciudad y maldito en el campo.
17 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.	17 Maldita será tu canasta y maldito el recipiente donde amasas tu pan.
18 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.	18 Malditos serán el fruto de tus entrañas y el fruto de tu suelo, las crías de tus vacas y los partos de tus ovejas.
19 Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.	19 Maldito serás al entrar y maldito al salir.
20 The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.	20 El Señor enviará contra ti la maldición, el pánico y el fracaso sobre todas tus empresas, hasta que seas exterminado y desaparezca rápidamente, a causa de tu mal proceder, por haberme abandonado.
21 The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.	21 El Señor hará que se te contagie la peste, hasta que seas eliminado de la tierra que vas a tomar en posesión.
22 The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.	22 El Señor te castigará con tisis, fiebre, inflamación, ardores, aridez, quemadura y pulgón que te hostigarán hasta que desaparezca.
23 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.	23 El cielo sobre tu cabeza será de bronce, y la tierra bajo tus pies será de hierro.
24 The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.	24 En lugar de lluvia, el Señor enviará polvo a tu tierra, y sobre ti caerá arena desde el cielo, hasta que seas exterminado.
25 The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.	25 El Señor te hará caer derrotado ante tus enemigos: saldrás a atacarlo por un camino y por siete caminos huirás de ellos; y todos los reinos de la tierra sentirán horror de ti,
26 And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.	26 Tus cadáveres serán pasto de todas las aves del cielo y de todos los animales de la tierra, y no habrá nadie que los espante.
27 The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.	27 El Señor te herirá con forúnculos de Egipto, con tumores, sarna y tiña, de los que no podrás curarte.
28 The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:	28 El Señor te castigará con locura, ceguera y delirio,
29 And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.	29 y andarás a tientas en pleno día, como anda a tientas un ciego, envuelto en la oscuridad. Nunca verás realizados tus proyectos: serás oprimido y despojado constantemente y nadie saldrá en tu defensa.
30 Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.	30 Te casarás con una mujer y otro gozará de ella. Construirás una casa y no la habitarás. Plantarás una viña y no recogerás sus frutos.
31 Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.	31 Tu buey será degollado delante de tus ojos y no lo podrás comer. Tu asno será arrebatado de tu misma presencia y no te lo devolverán. Tus ovejas serán entregadas a tus enemigos y nadie saldrá en tu defensa.
32 Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.	32 Tus hijos y tus hijas serán entregados a otro pueblo; y tu vista se consumirá de tanto mirar hacia ellos, pero no podrás hacer nada.
33 The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:	33 Un pueblo que no conoces comerá el fruto de tu suelo y todo el producto de tus fatigas. Serás oprimido y explotado constantemente,
34 So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.	34 hasta volverte loco a causa de lo que verán tus ojos.
35 The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.	35 El Señor te herirá con forúnculos malignos e incurables en las rodillas y en las piernas, desde la planta de los pies hasta la cabeza.
36 The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.	36 El Señor los deportará, a ti y al rey que hayas puesto para que te gobierne, a una nación que ni tú ni tus padres conocían, y allí servirás a otros dioses, dioses de maderas y de piedra.
37 And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.	37 Entonces serás motivo de consternación y de burla en todos los pueblos adonde el Señor te conduzca.
38 Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.	38 Sembrarás en tus campos mucha semilla, pero cosecharás muy poco, porque la devorará la langosta.
39 Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.	39 Plantarás viñas y las cultivarás, pero no podrás beber ni almacenar el vino, porque se las comerá el gusano.
40 Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.	40 Tendrás olivares en todo tu territorio, pero no podrás ungirte con aceite, porque se caerán las aceitunas.
41 Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.	41 Tendrás hijos e hijas, pero no te pertenecerán, porque serán llevados cautivos.
42 All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.	42 Los insectos arrasarán con todos tus árboles y con todos los frutos de tu suelo.
43 The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.	43 El extranjero que viva en tu país subirá cada vez más alto mientras que tú caerás cada vez más bajo.
44 He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.	44 El será tu acreedor, y tú, su deudor; él estará al frente, y tú detrás.
45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:	45 Todas estas maldiciones caerán sobre ti, te perseguirán y te alcanzarán hasta exterminarte, por no haber escuchado la voz del Señor, tu Dios, observando los mandamientos y los preceptos que él te prescribió.
46 And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.	46 Ellas estarán siempre sobre ti y sobre tus descendientes, como una señal y una advertencia.
47 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;	47 Por no haber servido al Señor, tu Dios con alegría y de todo corazón, mientras lo tenías todo en abundancia,
48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.	48 servirás a los enemigos que el Señor enviará contra ti, en medio del hambre y la sed, de la desnudez y de toda clase de privaciones. Y él pondrá en tu cuello un yuyo de hierro, hasta destruirte.
49 The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;	49 El Señor alzará contra ti a una nación lejana, que avanzará desde los extremos de la tierra con la velocidad del águila. Será una nación cuya lengua no entiendes,
50 A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:	50 un pueblo de aspecto feroz, que no sentirá compasión del anciano ni se apiadará del niño.
51 And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.	51 Ella se comerá los productos de tu ganado y los frutos de tu suelo, hasta que quedes exterminado, porque te dejará totalmente desprovisto de trigo, de vino y de aceite, de las crías de tus vacas y tus ovejas, hasta hacerte desaparecer.
52 And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.	52 Sitiará a todas tus ciudades, hasta que se derrumben esas murallas altas e inaccesibles en que habías depositado tu confianza, Sí, él te sitiará en todas las ciudades que estén dentro de la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te da.
53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:	53 Y durante el asedio, será tal la penuria a que te reducirá tu enemigo, que te comerás hasta el fruto de tus entrañas, la carne de tus hijos y de tus hijas, los mismos que el Señor, tu Dios, te había dado.
54 So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:	54 El más fino y delicado entre los hombres de tu pueblo mirará con odio a su hermano, a la esposa que dormía en sus brazos y a los hijos que todavía le queden,
55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.	55 para no compartir con ellos la carne de sus hijos: se la comerá él solo, porque ya no le quedará nada, en medio del asedio y la penuria a que te reducirá tu enemigo en todas tus ciudades.
56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,	56 La más fina y delicada entre las mujeres de tu pueblo –tan fina y delicada que ni siquiera se hubiera atrevido a pisar el suelo con la planta de sus pies– mirará con odio al esposo de su corazón, a su hijo y a su hija,
57 And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.	57 y se ocultará para comer la placenta salida de su seno a los hijos que dé a luz, porque estará privada de todo, en medio del asedio y la penuria a que te reducirá tu enemigo.
58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;	58 Si no te empeñas en practicar todas las palabras de esta Ley, como están escritas en este Libro, temiendo el Nombre glorioso y terrible del Señor, tu Dios,
59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.	59 él te castigará, a ti y a tu descendencia, con calamidades extraordinarias. Serán calamidades grades y persistentes, enfermedades malignas e incurables.
60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.	60 El hará recaer sobre ti todas las plagas de Egipto, esas que tanto te horrorizaron.
61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.	61 Además, el Señor te enviará todas las enfermedades y todas las desgracias que no están escritas en el libro de esta Ley, hasta que seas exterminado.
62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.	62 Después de haber sido numeroso, como las estrellas del cielo, quedarás reducido a un pequeño número, por no haber escuchado la voz del Señor, tu Dios.
63 And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.	63 Y así como antes él complacía en hacerlos felices y numerosos, luego se complacerá en destruirlos y exterminarlos. Y ustedes serán arrancados de la tierra, donde vas a entrar para tomar posesión de ella.
64 And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.	64 El Señor te dispersará entre todos los pueblos, de un extremo al otro de la tierra, y allí servirás a otros dioses que ni tú ni tus padres conocían, dioses de madera y de piedra.
65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:	65 No tendrás paz en medio de aquellas naciones y tu pie no encontrará descanso. El Señor llenará de angustia tu corazón, nublará tus ojos y abatirá tu ánimo.
66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:	66 Tu vida estará pendiente de un hijo, día y noche sentirás temor y no tendrás ninguna seguridad de sobrevivir.
67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.	67 Por la mañana dirás» «¡Ojalá fuera de tarde!», a causa del temor que sentirás y de lo que verán tus ojos.
68 And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.	68 El Señor te hará volver en barcos a Egipto, por eses camino del que yo te venderán a sus enemigos como esclavos y esclavas, pero nadie querrá comprarlos.
	69 Estas son las palabras de la alianza que el Señor ordenó a Moisés hacer con los israelitas en territorio de Moab, además de la alianza que había hecho con ellos en el Horeb.
