1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdman of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.	1 Parole di Amos, il quale fu tra i pecorai di Tekòa. Egli ebbe una visione contro Israele nei giorni di Ozia re di Giuda e nei giorni di Geroboamo figlio di Ioas re d'Israele, due anni avanti il terremoto.
2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.	2 Egli disse: Il Signore da Sion ruggirà e da Gerusalemme darà la sua voce, e faranno lutto le praterie dei pastori e sarà inaridita la vetta del Carmelo.
3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:	3 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre prevaricazioni di Damasco e per quattro non la farò tornare: per aver essi triturato con trebbie di ferro il Gàlaad.
4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.	4 Manderò fuoco entro la casa di Cazaèl e divorerà i palazzi di Ben-Adàd.
5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.	5 Spezzerò la sbarra della porta di Damasco, sterminerò l'abitante da Bikeat-Avèn e chi detiene lo scettro da Bet-Eden, e il popolo di Aram andrà deportato a Kir. Ha detto il Signore.
6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:	6 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre prevaricazioni di Gaza e per quattro non la farò tornare: per aver essi deportato popolazioni intere per consegnarle a Edom.
7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:	7 Manderò fuoco entro le mura di Gaza e divorerà i suoi palazzi.
8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.	8 Sterminerò l'abitante da Asdòd e chi detiene lo scettro da Ascalon, e rivolterò la mia mano contro Accaron, e perirà il residuo dei Filistei. Ha detto il Signore.
9 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:	9 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre prevaricazioni di Tiro e per quattro non lo farò tornare: per aver essi deportato popolazioni intere consegnandole a Edom, senza ricordarsi del patto di fratelli.
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.	10 Manderò fuoco entro le mura di Tiro e divorerà i suoi palazzi.
11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:	11 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre prevaricazioni di Edom e per quattro non lo farò tornare: perché ha inseguito con la spada il suo fratello, ha corrotto la misericordia in se stesso; la sua ira sbrana in perpetuo e la sua rabbia dura per sempre.
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.	12 Manderò fuoco in Teman e divorerà i palazzi di Bozra.
13 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:	13 Così ha detto il Signore: Per tre prevaricazioni dei figli di Ammon e per quattro non lo farò tornare: per aver essi sventrato le donne incinte del Gàlaad allo scopo di dilatare il loro confine.
14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:	14 Accenderò fuoco entro le mura di Rabbà e divorerà i suoi palazzi con fragore nel giorno della battaglia, con burrasca nel giorno dell'uragano.
15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.	15 Il loro re andrà in deportazione, egli e i suoi prìncipi insieme. Ha detto il Signore.
