Hosea 8

1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.	1 Prépare-toi à sonner de la trompette! Le malheur s’abat comme l’aigle sur le peuple de Yahvé, car ils ont désobéi à mon alliance, ils ont été infidèles à ma Loi.
2 Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.	2 Ils crient vers moi: “Mon Dieu! Nous te connaissons, nous Israël!”
3 Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.	3 Mais Israël a rejeté le bien, c’est pourquoi l’ennemi le poursuivra.
4 They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.	4 Ils ont établi des rois que je n’avais pas choisis; ils ont établi des chefs que je ne connaissais pas; ils ont fait des idoles avec leur argent et leur or, aussi leur argent et leur or leur seront enlevés.
5 Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?	5 Samarie, tes veaux m’ont dégoûté et ma colère s’est enflammée contre eux. Combien de temps faudra-t-il pour vous en purifier, enfants d’Israël?
6 For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.	6 Ce veau n’est pas Dieu puisqu’un ouvrier l’a fabriqué: le veau de Samarie s’en ira au feu.
7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.	7 Ils ont semé le vent, ils récolteront la tempête; ils sont comme un blé qui n’aura pas d’épi; s’il en a, il ne donnera pas de farine; s’il en donne, des étrangers la mangeront.
8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.	8 Israël vivait à part, comme l’âne sauvage; il s’est fait dévorer. Ephraïm est maintenant chez les païens comme un objet sans valeur.
9 For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.	9 Il se rendait en Assyrie pour offrir des cadeaux;
10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.	10 maintenant qu’il a été lui-même livré aux païens, c’est moi qui devrai le racheter. Car en quelques instants ils se sont retrouvés sans oracles, sans rois, sans chefs.
11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.	11 Éphraïm a multiplié les autels: ils ne lui ont servi qu’à pécher.
12 I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.	12 Si j’écris à son intention mille articles dans ma Loi, il les regarde comme une chose sans importance.
13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.	13 Ils veulent offrir des sacrifices? Qu’ils les immolent et en mangent la viande, mais Yahvé n’y prend aucun plaisir; maintenant il se souvient de leurs fautes, il va punir leurs péchés, et ils retourneront en Égypte.
14 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.	14 Israël a oublié Celui qui l’avait fait, il s’est mis à construire des palais. Juda a multiplié ses forteresses; mais j’enverrai le feu dans ses villes pour dévorer ses forteresses.
