1 Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.	1 E io certo dal primo anno di Dario di Media stava, acciò che si confortasse e che si fortificasse.
2 And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.	2 E ora ti manifestarò la verità. Ed ecco che anco tre re saranno in Persia, e il quarto si riccherà di molte ricchezze sopra di tutti; e quando lui sarà bene doventato ricco, commoverà tutti contro al regno di Grecia.
3 And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.	3 E leverassi uno re potente, e signoreggerà con grande podestà, e farà quello che a lui piacerà.
4 And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.	4 E quando sarà stato (un tempo), si disfarà il regno suo, e sarà diviso secondo i quattro venti del cielo; non nelli suoi successori, cioè suoi figliuoli, (per che non averà figliuoli), nè secondo la potenza sua (domineranno alcuni delli loro), come dominò lui; sarà lacerato il suo regno anco dalli estranei fuori di questi (quattro).
5 And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.	5 E il re dell' austro sarà fortificato; e delli suoi principi (che succederà a lui in signoria) uno prevalerà sopra di lui, (però che più ampierà il regno suo), e signoreggerà con lo imperio suo; grande sarà la signoria di costui.
6 And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.	6 E dopo molti anni si confederaranno insieme (lo re dell' austro e quello dell' aquilone); e la figliuola del re dell' austro, moglie del re dell' aquilone, verrà al suo marito per fare amicizia, e non ottenerà la fortezza del regno, nè rimarrà lo suo seme; e sarà lei presa, e quella gioventù che venne con lei, e quelli che la confortavano a tempo (saranno morti).
7 But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:	7 E (nientedimeno) rimarrà una pianta della radice del suo parentado; e quello verrà con esèrcito, ed entrerà nella provincia del re dell' aquilone; e sì la soggiogherà per forza, e ottenerà.
8 And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.	8 E oltre di questo i loro dii, e le loro imagini, e le vasa bellissime d' oro e d' ariento, le conduceranno prese in Egitto; lui prevalerà contro al re dell' aquilone.
9 So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.	9 Ed entrerà nel regno il re dell' austro, e tornerà nella terra sua.
10 But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.	10 E li figliuoli del re dell' aquilone (per questo) saranno provocati, e congregheranno una moltitudine di molti esèrciti; e verrà festinando, abbondante di moltitudine di popoli; e tornerà (nella terra sua), e sarà concitato, e verrà con la sua fortezza.
11 And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.	11 E lo re dell' austro provocato (per questo) uscirà, e combatterà contra il re dell' aquilone, e preparerà una grandissima moltitudine, e sarà data la moltitudine (del re dell' aquilone) nelle mani del re d'Egitto.
12 And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.	12 E piglieralla, ed esalterassi il cuor suo, e percoterà molte migliaia (dello esercito del re dell' aquilone); ma non prevalerà (sì che rimanga disfatto lo suo avversario).
13 For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.	13 Tornerà il re dell' aquilone, e preparerà molto maggiore moltitudine che prima; e verrà nella fine del tempo constituito per lui, con grande festinanza e con uno massimo esercito e con molta vittuaria.
14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.	14 E in quelli tempi molti si leveranno contro al re dell' austro; e i figliuoli delli prevaricatori del popolo tuo si leveranno (in superbia) acciò ch' empiano la visione, e ruineranno.
15 So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.	15 E verrà il re dell' aquilone, e porterà con lui l'aggere, e piglierà le città munitissime; e la fortezza dell' austro non potrà sostenere, e leveransi li eletti (e fortissimi) del re dell' austro per resistere, e non potranno.
16 But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.	16 E venendo lo re dell' aquilone sopra lo re dell' austro, farà secondo la sua volontade, e non sarà chi stia contro alla faccia sua; e starà nella terra inclita (cioè in Ierusalem) e sarà consunta nelle mani sue.
17 He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.	17 E porrà nel suo cuore di venire a possedere tutto il regno dell' austro, e farà molte cose rette (in modo di amicizia) con lo re dell' austro; e daralli la figliuola per moglie, acciò che lo possi disfare; e (la fraude dello re dell' aquilone) non averà effetto, nè sarà suo il regno dell' austro.
18 After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.	18 E (dopo questo) convertirà il cuore suo alle insule, e piglieranne molte; e (dopo questo il re dell' austro) farà cessare il principe dello obbrobrio suo, (cioè il re dell' aquilone), e lo obbrobrio del re dell' austro verrà sopra il re dell' aquilone.
19 Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.	19 E convertirà (il re dell' austro) il cuor suo contro alle terre sue, e oppugneralle, e rimarrà disfatto, e non si troverà.
20 Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.	20 E starà nel luogo suo, vilissimo e indegno dell' ornamento regio; e in pochi dì sarà disfatto, non in furore (di inimici), nè in battaglia.
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.	21 E starà nel luogo suo, dispetto, e non li sarà fatto onore come re; e (dopo questo) verrà secretamente, e con astuzia (simulando amicizia e) otterrà il regno.
22 And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.	22 E li principi del re dell' austro saranno espugnati da lui, e saranno disfatti; e oltre di questo il duca del patto sarà superato (cloè il re dell' austro).
23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.	23 E dopo l'amicizia fatta (per lo re dell' aquilone con lo re dell' austro) lo ingannerà; e verrassene, e con poco popolo lo supererà.
24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.	24 Ed entrarà le abbondanti e piene cittadi, e farà quello che non fecero i padri suoi e li padri delli suoi padri; e dissiperà le ricchezze loro (con rapine e rubamenti), e farà consiglio contra le firmissime cogitazioni (e pensieri de' consiglieri del re dell' austro); e questo sarà sino ad alcuno tempo.
25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.	25 E concitarassi la sua fortezza e il suo cuore contro al re dell' austro con uno grande esèrcito; e il re dell' austro sarà provocato alla battaglia con molti adiutorii e molto forti; e non rimarranno, però che il re dell' aquilone farà contro a lui consigli (molti per simular pace, e lo re dell' austro licenzierà lo esèrcito).
26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.	26 E mangiando lo re dell' aquilone con molti delli suoi pane con lo re dell' austro (per la pace simulata) disfarà molto del suo esercito; e sarà rotto, e molti (delli suoi) caderanno morti.
27 And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.	27 E lo cuore di questi due re sarà disposto a fare molto male, e mangiando ad una mensa, parleranno una cosa e intenderanno di farne un' altra, e (tamen lo re dell' austro con li suoi) non faranno profitto alcuno; però che la fine di questo sarà in uno altro tempo.
28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.	28 E tornerà (lo re dell' austro) nella terra sua con molte ricchezze (e con molta preda); e il cuor suo si accenderà contro il testamento santo (cioè contro alli Giudei e le sue città), e farà (quello che potrà di ottenere lo intento), e tornerà nella terra sua.
29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.	29 E nel tempo ordinato ritornerà, e verrà all'austro; e non sarà questa venuta ultima, simile alla prima.
30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.	30 E verranno sopra lo re dell' aquilone molte navi, le quali hanno tre ordini di remi, e li Romani; e sarà percosso, e ritornerà (nella terra sua), e indignerassi contra lo testamento del santuario (cioè contra li Giudei), e farà (molti mali contro alli Giudei); e ritornerà, e penserà (molte cose) contra di loro i quali lasciorono il testamento del santuario (cioè contro ai Giudei che aveano abbandonata la legge).
31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.	31 E le sue forze staranno (e li suoi aiuti, e condurrà pervertendo molti delli Giudei) a mal operare contro al potente santuario; e rimoveranno il sacrificio continuo, e daranno lo idolo abominevole lo quale sarà causa della loro desolazione.
32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.	32 E in questo li empii (li quali si partirono dalla legge) simuleranno con fraude (di esser fedeli della legge per sedur gli altri); ma il popolo, lo quale conoscerà Iddio, (e che lo temerà, non tenerà la legge delle mani di coloro, e) farà molte cose contra a quelli infedeli della legge.
33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.	33 E li dotti nella legge ammaestreranno molti, e saranno morti con coltello alcuni, alcuni saranno arsi, alcuni saranno menati prigioni, e staranno alcuno tempo in tirannia.
34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.	34 E dopo questa ruina saranno sollevati con poco ausilio; e molti s' accosteranno a questi con frande.
35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.	35 E delli dotti (molti) ruineranno, acciò che siano purgati ed eletti e dealbati (di gloria, e siano salvi in vita eterna, e questo durerà) sino a tempo determinato; però che dopo questo sarà altro tempo.
36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.	36 E farà (in questo mezzo) il re secondo la sua volontà, e sarà esaltato e magnificato contro a ogni iddio; e parlerà contro lo Dio delli dii grandi blasfemie, e prospererà persino che si compia l'ira (di Dio); e compiuto è quello che Iddio ave determinato.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.	37 E non farà riputazione dello Dio de' padri suoi, e starà nelle voluttà (e desiderii e dilettazioni carnali) delle femine, e non si curerà di alcuno iddio; però che si leverà contra a tutti, (così contra Dio, come contra gli uomini).
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.	38 E lo dio Maozim nello luogo suo sarà venerato; e adorerà quello dio, lo qual non conobbero li padri suoi, e farà ornare (Maozim) d' oro, ariento, pietre preziose, e di (molte altre) cose preziose.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.	39 E il suo cuore sarà con uno altro iddio, lo quale lui se l'ha (fatto e) conosciuto, e moltiplicherà la gloria (sua e delli suoi), e darà loro podestà in molte parti, e dividerà la terra, (e donerà alli suoi satelliti molte terre e castelle, le quali sono fra i Giudei).
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.	40 E nel tempo determinato combatterà contro a lui lo re dell' austro, e verrà contro a lui quasi come tempesta lo re dell' aquilone ne' carri e cavalli, e con grande armata marittima; ed entrerà nelle terre, e guasteralle, e passerà.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.	41 Ed entrerà nella terra gloriosa, e molte rovineranno; ma queste sole si salveranno delle mani sue, Edon e Moab, e li principii delli figliuoli di Ammon.
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.	42 E la mano sua porrà nelle terre; e la terra di Egitto non iscamperà (dalle sue mani).
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.	43 E signoreggerà li tesori dell' oro e dell' ariento, e tutte le cose preziose dello Egitto; e passerà per la Libia e per la Etiopia.
44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.	44 E la fama (delle battaglie, che si congregheranno contro a lui) dall' oriente e dall' aquilone lo conturberà (che non vadi più oltre); e delibererà di venire con grande moltitudine (in Giudea), acciò che disfacci e uccidi molte genti.
45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.	45 E porrà la sedia sua Apadno fra due mari, sopra il monte santo e inclito (cioè il monte Oliveto); e verrà per sino alla sommità sua, e niuno li sarà propizio.
