1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,	1 Une parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
2 Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus;	2 “Fils d’homme, prononce donc une lamentation sur Tyr.
3 And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.	3 Tu diras à Tyr, la ville installée au débouché des mers, le grand marché des peuples et des îles sans nombre: Parole de Yahvé! Ne disais-tu pas, Tyr: Je suis parfaitement belle.
4 Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.	4 Tu n’avais de frontières que les mers, et tes bâtisseurs t’avaient voulue très belle.
5 They have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.	5 Ils avaient tiré des cyprès de Sénir les planches de tes bordages, ils avaient pris ton mât dans un cèdre du Liban,
6 Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.	6 et tes rames, dans les chênes du Bashan; ton pont était de cèdre des îles de Kittim, incrusté d’ivoire.
7 Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.	7 Tes voiles étaient de lin d’Égypte, et de même ton pavillon. Tes tentures de pourpre et d’écarlate venaient des îles d’Élicha.
8 The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.	8 Les habitants de Sidon et d’Arvad étaient tes rameurs, mais tes sages étaient les pilotes;
9 The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.	9 les anciens de Guébal ( ) réparaient tes avaries ( ).
10 They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.	10 On trouvait dans ton armée des gens de Perse, de Loud et de Pout ( ); ils accrochaient chez toi casque et bouclier, ils étaient ta fierté.
11 The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.	11 Les fils d’Arvad à ton service veillaient sur tes remparts; les Guémadiens gardaient tes tours, leurs boucliers pendant au long de tes remparts te donnaient de la couleur.
12 Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.	12 Tarsis te fournissait de tout: elle prenait tes marchandises contre l’argent, le fer, l’étain et le plomb.
13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.	13 Yavan, Toubal et Méchek étaient tes clients; ils prenaient tes marchandises contre des esclaves et des objets de bronze.
14 They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.	14 De Beth-Togorma te venaient les chevaux pour les chars et la cavalerie, ainsi que des mulets.
15 The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.	15 Les fils de Dédan commerçaient avec toi; les îles populeuses étaient sous ton contrôle et te payaient en défenses d’ivoire et bois d’ébène.
16 Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.	16 Édom payait tes nombreux produits avec des bijoux, de la pourpre, des broderies, des pierres précieuses, du corail et des rubis.
17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.	17 Juda et le pays d’Israël t’apportaient du blé de Minnit, de la cire, du miel, de l’huile et des parfums en échange de tes marchandises.
18 Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.	18 Damas s’approvisionnait chez toi, car tu avais de tout; il te fournissait en vin de Helbon et laine de Sadad.
19 Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.	19 Les gens d’Ouzal apportaient sur tes marchés du fer forgé, de la cannelle et des roseaux.
20 Dedan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.	20 Dédan vendait chez toi des couvertures pour les chevaux.
21 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.	21 Même l’Arabie et les princes de Kédar se fournissaient chez toi; ils te payaient avec des agneaux, des béliers et des boucs.
22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.	22 Les marchands de Chéba et de Rahama t’apportaient les baumes de qualité, les pierres précieuses et l’or.
23 Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Assur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.	23 Harrân, Kanné, Éden, les marchands de Chéba et ceux de l’Assyrie, aussi bien que les Mèdes, venaient trafiquer chez toi:
24 These were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.	24 riches vêtements, manteaux de pourpre, étoffes brodées et tapis de couleur, cordes bien tressées.
25 The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.	25 Les navires de Tarsis assuraient ton commerce. Tu es partie au cœur des mers, remplie, surchargée,
26 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.	26 tes rameurs t’ont menée en haute mer, et puis au cœur des mers, le vent d’est t’a brisée.
27 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.	27 Et voilà que s’enfoncent, au cœur des mers, tes richesses, tes marchandises et tout ce que tu portes: marins et matelots, charpentiers de marine, commerçants, hommes de guerre et passagers: c’est le naufrage!
28 The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.	28 Les cris de tes matelots ont ébranlé jusqu’au rivage.
29 And all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;	29 Tous les rameurs descendent de leurs bateaux et les marins s’arrêtent à terre.
30 And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:	30 Ils ne parlent que de toi et poussent des cris, ils se jettent de la poussière sur la tête et se roulent dans la cendre.
31 And they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.	31 Pour toi ils se rasent le crâne et s’habillent de sacs; très affligés, ils font entendre leurs plaintes, une lamentation amère.
32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?	32 Ils ont composé pour toi un chant funèbre, et ils se lamentent: “Qui était semblable à Tyr au milieu des mers?
33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.	33 Tu débarquais tes marchandises: les peuples étaient rassasiés. C’était toi, c’étaient tes marchandises, qui rendaient riches les rois de la terre.
34 In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.	34 Voici que la mer t’a brisée, tu es au fond des eaux; ta cargaison et tout ton monde ont sombré avec toi.
35 All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.	35 Les habitants des îles sont tous consternés, les rois ont un frisson, leur visage perd sa couleur.
36 The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.	36 Partout dans le monde les marchands sifflent quand on parle de toi, tu es devenue un exemple, on ne te reverra plus.
