Jeremiah 15

1 Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.	1 Alors Yahvé m’a dit: Même si Moïse et Samuel étaient devant moi pour me supplier, je n’aurais pas pitié de ce peuple. Chasse-les de devant moi et qu’ils partent!
2 And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.	2 S’ils te disent: “Où irons-nous?” Tu leur diras cette parole de Yahvé: “Que celui qui est pour la mort aille à la mort! S’il est pour l’épée, qu’il aille à l’épée! S’il est pour la famine, qu’il aille à la famine! S’il est pour la captivité, qu’il aille à la captivité!
3 And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.	3 Je les soumettrai à quatre tyrans - parole de Yahvé: le glaive pour tuer, les chiens pour déchirer, les oiseaux des cieux et les bêtes de la terre pour dévorer et exterminer.
4 And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.	4 (Je ferai d’eux un objet d’horreur pour tous les royaumes de la terre, à cause de tout ce que Manassé fils d’Ézékias, roi de Juda, a fait dans Jérusalem.)
5 For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?	5 Qui donc aura pitié de toi, Jérusalem? Qui se lamentera sur toi? Qui fera un détour pour s’informer de ta santé?
6 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.	6 Tu m’a repoussé - parole de Yahvé - tu t’es éloignée de moi, c’est pourquoi je vais étendre la main pour te détruire, car je suis fatigué de pardonner.
7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.	7 Je les ai passés au tamis aux portes du pays, j’ai laissé mon peuple sans enfants pour qu’il disparaisse, mais ils ne sont pas revenus de leur mauvaise conduite.
8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.	8 J’ai fait que les veuves soient plus nombreuses que le sable du bord de mer; en plein midi j’ai fait venir le désastre sur la mère et sur ses fils, j’ai fait tomber sur eux terreur et épouvante.
9 She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.	9 Celle qui avait sept fils se lamente et défaille, car son soleil s’est couché avant la fin du jour; elle reste désemparée, affolée. Même les survivants, je les livrerai à l’épée de leurs ennemis - parole de Yahvé.
10 Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.	10 15:12 Brisera-t-on le fer et le bronze qui viennent du nord?
11 The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.	11 15:13 Voici que je livre au pillage ta richesse et tes trésors, pour tous les péchés qui ont été commis dans ton pays.
12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?	12 15:14 Je ferai de toi l’esclave de tes ennemis dans un pays que tu ne connais pas, car ma colère s’est changée en un feu, et nul ne l’éteindra.
13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.	13 15:10 Malheur à moi, ô ma mère, pourquoi m’as-tu mis au monde! Je divise tout ce pays et sème les querelles. Je n’ai pas prêté, on ne m’a pas prêté, mais tous me maudissent.
14 And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.	14 15:11 Dis-moi, Yahvé, ne t’ai-je pas bien servi? N’étais-je pas là à te supplier au temps du malheur et de l’invasion?
15 O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.	15 Tu le sais, Yahvé. Souviens-toi de moi, montre-toi et venge-moi de ceux qui me persécutent. Ne retiens pas davantage ta colère, ou ils auront raison de moi; c’est pour toi que je souffre tant d’humiliations!
16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.	16 Lorsque m’arrivaient tes paroles, je les dévorais; tes paroles étaient mon plaisir et la joie de mon cœur, car alors ton Nom reposait sur moi, Yahvé, Dieu Sabaot.
17 I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.	17 Je ne m’asseyais pas dans le cercle des moqueurs pour m’y divertir. Lorsque ta main pesait sur moi, je me tenais à l’écart et tu me remplissais de ta colère.
18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?	18 Pourquoi donc ma douleur est-elle continuelle, et ma blessure rebelle à toute guérison? M’as-tu trompé, toi, ma source, et me laisses-tu soudain sans eau?
19 Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.	19 Alors Yahvé m’a dit: Si tu reviens, je te reprendrai à mon service; dégage le métal précieux de ses scories, si tu veux être ma bouche. Ils reviendront vers toi, mais tu ne reviendras pas à eux.
20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.	20 Je ferai de toi un rempart de bronze face à ce peuple; ils te feront la guerre, mais ils ne l’emporteront pas, car je suis avec toi pour te sauver et te délivrer - parole de Yahvé.
21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.	21 Je te délivrerai de la main des méchants, je te reprendrai aux violents.
