Jeremiah 12

1 Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?	1 Tu es trop juste, Yahvé, pour que je discute avec toi, et pourtant, c’est bien de justice que je veux parler avec toi: pourquoi les méchants ont-ils de la chance, pourquoi tous ces traîtres sont-ils heureux?
2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.	2 Tu les plantes et ils prennent racines, ils se portent bien et réussissent. Ils ont ton nom sur les lèvres alors que leur cœur est loin de toi.
3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.	3 Mais moi, Yahvé, tu me connais, tu me vois. Mon cœur, si près de toi, n’a rien de caché pour toi. Enlève-les donc comme des brebis pour la boucherie et marque-les pour le jour du massacre.
4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.	4 Jusques à quand le pays sera-t-il en deuil, avec cette herbe toute desséchée dans les campagnes? Les bêtes et les oiseaux ont péri à cause de la méchanceté des habitants de ce pays, et ils disent encore: “Dieu ne voit pas notre conduite.”
5 If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?	5 “Si cela te fatigue de courir avec les coureurs, pourras-tu t’aligner avec les chevaux? Si tu n’es pas en sécurité dans un pays paisible, que feras-tu dans les fourrés du Jourdain?
6 For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.	6 “Tes frères eux-mêmes et la famille de ton père sont faux avec toi, ils te critiquent ouvertement par derrière; ne te fie pas à leurs bonnes paroles.”
7 I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.	7 J’ai quitté ma maison, j’ai abandonné mon héritage, j’ai livré ce que j’aimais entre les mains de mes ennemis.
8 Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.	8 Les miens sont devenus pour moi comme un lion dans la forêt, ils ont élevé la voix contre moi, et moi je les ai détestés.
9 Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.	9 Mon peuple serait-il devenu comme un vautour au vilain plumage, que tous les autres vautours fondent sur lui? Venez, rassemblez-vous, bêtes sauvages, accourez toutes au festin!
10 Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.	10 Des bergers nombreux ont saccagé ma vigne, ils ont piétiné mon domaine, ils ont changé la parcelle que j’aimais en une terre inculte et désolée.
11 They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.	11 Ils en ont fait un terrain saccagé, il est en deuil, en friches sous mes yeux; tout le pays a été dévasté et personne ne s’en préoccupe.
12 The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.	12 Les pillards ont escaladé toutes les collines déboisées du désert. Voici que l’épée de Yahvé dévore, d’une extrémité à l’autre du pays: il n’y a de paix pour personne.
13 They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.	13 Ils ont semé du blé et moissonné des épines, ils se sont épuisés sans aucun résultat. Ils ont honte de ce qu’ils ont récolté, car la colère de Yahvé a sévi.
14 Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.	14 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: “Tous mes méchants voisins ont porté la main sur l’héritage que j’avais donné à mon peuple Israël, mais je les arracherai eux-mêmes de sur leur terre lorsque je reprendrai de chez eux les gens de Juda.
15 And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.	15 Je les déracinerai, mais ensuite j’aurai pitié d’eux et je les ramènerai chacun dans son héritage, chacun dans son pays.
16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.	16 Et s’ils veulent apprendre les normes de mon peuple, s’ils jurent par mon nom en disant: “Yahvé est vivant” - tout comme eux-mêmes ont appris à mon peuple à jurer par Baal, - alors je les établirai au milieu de mon peuple.
17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.	17 Mais si une nation ne m’écoute pas, je l’arracherai et je la détruirai - parole de Yahvé.
