KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying,2 'Speak to Aaron and his sons and al the Israelites and say: "This is the order that Yahweh has given:
What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,3 "Any man of the House of Israel who slaughters a bull, lamb or goat, whether inside the camp oroutside it,
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:4 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to make an offering of it to Yahweh in front ofhis Dwel ing, that man wil be answerable for bloodshed; he has shed blood, and that man wil be outlawed fromhis people.
To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.5 The purpose of this is that the Israelites should instead bring their sacrifices, which they wouldotherwise offer in the countryside, to Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and offer themas communion sacrifices to Yahweh;
And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.6 and the priest wil sprinkle the blood on Yahweh's altar at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and willburn the fat as a smel pleasing to Yahweh.
And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.7 No longer may they offer their sacrifices to the satyrs in whose service they used to prostitutethemselves. This is a perpetual law for them and for their descendants."
And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering of sacrifice,8 'You will also say to them, "Any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien who offers a burntoffering or sacrifice
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.9 without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to offer it to Yahweh, will be outlawed from hispeople.
And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.10 "If any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien consumes blood of any kind, I shal set myface against that individual who consumes blood and shal outlaw him from his people.
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.11 For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you for performing the rite of expiationon the altar for your lives, for blood is what expiates for a life.
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.12 That is why I told the Israelites: None of you wil consume blood, nor wil any resident alien consumeblood.
And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.13 "Anyone, whether Israelite or resident alien, who hunts and catches game, whether animal or bird,which it is lawful to eat, must pour out its blood and cover it with earth.
For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.14 For the life of every creature is its blood, and I have told the Israelites: You wil not consume theblood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood, and anyone who consumes it wil be outlawed.
And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.15 "Anyone, citizen or alien, who eats an animal that has died a natural death or been savaged, mustwash clothing and body, and wil be unclean until evening, but wil then be clean.
But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.16 But anyone who does not wash clothing and body wil bear the consequences of his guilt." '
