1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:	1 Écoute donc, Jacob, mon serviteur, Israël, toi que j’ai choisi.
2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.	2 Voici ce que dit Yahvé qui t’a fait, qui t’a formé dès le sein maternel et qui t’a sauvé: “N’aie pas peur, Jacob, mon serviteur, Israël que j’ai choisi.
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:	3 Je répandrai les eaux sur le sol aride, et les eaux courront sur la terre desséchée. Je répandrai mon Esprit sur ta race et ma bénédiction sera sur tes descendants.
4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.	4 Ils grandiront comme l’herbe au bord des eaux, comme des saules plantés près des eaux courantes.
5 One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.	5 L’un dira: ‘Je suis à Yahvé’, un autre prendra le nom de Jacob, un autre encore écrira sur sa main: ‘À Yahvé!’ et prendra comme surnom, le nom d’Israël.”
6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.	6 Voici ce que dit Yahvé, le roi d’Israël, celui qui le rachète, Yahvé Sabaot: “Je suis le premier et je suis le dernier, il n’y a pas d’autre Dieu que moi.
7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.	7 En est-il un comme moi? Qu’il le proclame. Qu’il dise et m’explique s’il a déjà prédit des signes; et qu’il nous apprenne aussi les choses à venir.
8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.	8 Ne vous effrayez pas, n’ayez pas peur: moi, je te l’avais fait savoir, depuis longtemps je l’avais annoncé, n’est-ce pas? Vous êtes mes témoins: y a-t-il un Dieu autre que moi? Non, il n’y a pas de Rocher: je n’en connais pas!”
9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.	9 Ceux qui fabriquent des statues ne sont rien, et ces œuvres qu’ils aiment ne servent à rien. Leurs partisans ne voient pas, ils ne comprennent pas; à la fin ils seront déçus.
10 Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?	10 Quelle idée de façonner un dieu et de fabriquer une statue qui ne sert à rien?
11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.	11 Tous leurs complices seront désappointés et ces artisans en rougiront. Qu’ils se rassemblent tous, qu’ils s’approchent; ils trembleront, et tous ensemble seront couverts de honte.
12 The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.	12 Le forgeron façonne une hache sur les braises, il la forme au marteau et la travaille à la force de son bras; cet homme a faim et ses forces s’usent; s’il n’a pas d’eau à boire, il est épuisé.
13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.	13 De son côté le sculpteur sur bois trace des traits, il dessine l’image à la craie et la réalise au ciseau en suivant attentivement le dessin, il prend l’homme comme modèle et lui donne forme humaine pour la mettre dans une maison.
14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.	14 Ensuite on est allé débiter un cèdre ou bien telle ou telle sorte de chêne choisi parmi les arbres de la forêt; ou encore on a planté des pins que la pluie a fait grandir.
15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.	15 L’homme va brûler le bois pour se chauffer, il l’allume pour cuire son pain; mais il en tire aussi une idole qu’il va adorer, il fabrique une statue et se prosterne devant elle.
16 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:	16 Ainsi, il en brûle la moitié; avec cette moitié il prépare sa viande, il cuit son rôti et mange, il se chauffe également et dit: “Ah que c’est bon! Cette flamme me réchauffe!”
17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.	17 Puis avec le reste il fait son dieu, son idole, et il l’adore; il se prosterne devant elle, il la prie en lui disant: “Délivre-moi car tu es mon Dieu.”
18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.	18 Ils ne savent pas, ils ne comprennent pas, ils ont des écailles sur les yeux et sont incapables de voir; leur esprit est incapable de comprendre.
19 And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?	19 Aucun ne réfléchit, aucun n’a assez d’intelligence et de bon sens pour se dire: “J’en ai brûlé la moitié au feu, j’ai fait cuire du pain sur les braises, j’ai rôti de la viande et je l’ai mangée, et maintenant je ferais une idole avec le reste, j’adorerais un morceau de bois!”
20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?	20 Mais non, il ne chasse que des cendres et son esprit aveuglé le fait dérailler. N’essayera-t-il pas de se racheter? Ne sera-t-il pas capable de dire: “Ce que j’ai dans la main, ce n’est que du vent.”
21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.	21 Souviens-toi de tout cela, Jacob, car tu es mon serviteur, Israël; j’ai fait de toi mon serviteur, ne m’oublie pas, Israël.
22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.	22 J’ai dissipé tes fautes comme un nuage, tes péchés comme une nuée, je t’ai racheté, reviens donc à moi.
23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.	23 Cieux, criez de joie, et toi terre, fais résonner tes profondeurs: vois ce que Yahvé a fait! Montagnes et forêts, et vous tous les arbres, poussez des cris de joie, car Yahvé a racheté Jacob, il a montré sa gloire en Israël!
24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;	24 Voici ce que dit Yahvé qui te rachète, qui t’a formé dès le sein maternel: C’est moi, Yahvé, qui ai tout fait; moi seul j’ai déroulé les cieux, j’ai affermi la terre: qui était alors avec moi?
25 That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;	25 Je fais échouer les présages des faux prophètes, je fais délirer les devins, je fais reculer les sages et je change leur science en folie.
26 That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:	26 Je réalise la parole de mes serviteurs, je fais réussir les projets de mes messagers. Aussi je dis de Jérusalem: “Qu’elle soit de nouveau habitée”, et des villes de Juda: “Qu’elles soient reconstruites, je relèverai les ruines.
27 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:	27 À la Grande Mer je dis: “Reste à sec, je ferai tarir tes fleuves!”
28 That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.	28 Et de Cyrus je dis: Voici mon berger, il accomplira toute ma volonté. Il dira pour Jérusalem: “Qu’elle soit rebâtie!”, et pour le Temple: “Qu’il soit reconstruit!”.
