Isaiah 42

1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.	1 Ecco il mio servo, col quale io starò, il mio eletto, nel quale si compiace l'anima mia. In lui ho diffuso il mio spirito. Egli porterà la giustizia tra le nazioni.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.	2 Egli non griderà, non sarà accettator di persone, non farà sentire la sua voce sulle piazze,
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.	3 non spezzerà la canna fessa, non smorzerà il lucignolo fumigante, farà giustizia secondo la verità.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.	4 Senza essere nè triste nè turbolento, giungerà a stabilire sulla terra la giustizia, e le isole aspetteranno la sua legge.
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:	5 Così dice il Signore Dio che crea i cieli e li distende, che forma la terra e le cose da lei prodotte, che dà il respiro al popolo che vi abita, lo spirito a quelli che la calcano:
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;	6 « Io, il Signore, u ho chiamato nella giustizia, t'ho preso per mano, t'ho preservato, ti ho fatto alleanza del popolo, luce delle nazioni;
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.	7 per aprire gli occhi ai ciechi, per trarre dal carcere i prigionieri, dal sotterraneo carcere quelli che giacciono nelle tenebre.
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.	8 Io sono il Signore; questo è il mio nome: non cederò ad un altro la mia gloria, nè agli idoli il mio onore.
9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.	9 Le prime cose (annunziate) ecco già avvengono, io ve ne annunzio ancora delle nuove: prima che avvengano ve le farò sapere ».
10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.	10 Cantate al Signore un cantico nuovo, le sue lodi fino agli ultimi confini del mondo, voi che navigate sul mare e lo popolate, voi, isole, e voi che le abitate.
11 Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.	11 Esulti il deserto e le sue città: Cedar abiterà nelle case: cantate inni, o abitanti di Petra: grideranno dalle cime dei monti,
12 Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.	12 glorificheranno il Signore, ne annunzieranno le lodi alle isole.
13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.	13 Il Signore uscirà come un eroe, come forte guerriero eccitato dall'emulazione, alzerà la voce, griderà, mostrerà la sua forza contro i suoi nemici.
14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.	14 Ho sempre taciuto, sono stato in silenzio, ho sopportato: parlerò come partoriente, nel medesimo tempo distruggerò e divorerò,
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.	15 desolerò i monti o le colline, farò seccare tutte le loro erbe, cangerò i fiumi in isole, e farò seccare gli stagni.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.	16 E condurrò i ciechi per strada che non conoscono, li farò camminare per sentieri da loro ignorati, davanti ad essi cangerò le tenebre in luce e le vie storte in dritte. Queste cose le ho fatte per essi, e non li ho abbandonati.
17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.	17 Son già voi hi in fuga, coperti di confusione quelli che confidano negli idoli, che dicono alle statue: « Voi siete i nostri dèi ».
18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.	18 Sordi, ascoltate, ciechi, aprite gli occhi per vedere.
19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD's servant?	19 Chi è cieco, se non il mio servo? Chi è sordo, se non colui al quale ho mandati i miei nunzi? Chi è cieco, se non il venduto? Chi è cieco, se non il servo del Signore?
20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.	20 Tu, che vedi molte cose, non ne farai tesoro? Tu, che hai aperte le orecchie, non ascolterai?
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.	21 Il Signore volle, per santificarlo, dare una grande e sublime legge.
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.	22 Ma lo stesso popolo è saccheggiato, spogliato, son tutti laccio per i giovani e si son nascosti nel fondo delle prigioni, sono abbandonati alla rapina e non v'è chi li liberi, al saccheggio, e nessuno dice: « Restituisci ».
23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?	23 Chi di voi darà ascolto a queste cose, chi starà attento, e ascolterà le cose future?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.	24 Chi ha abbandonato Giacobbe al saccheggio e Israele ai predoni? Non è forse il Signore, lui, contro il quale abbiamo peccato? Non vollero camminar per le sue vie, non dettero ascolto alla sua legge.
25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.	25 Ed Egli ha scaricato sopra di lui l'ira sua furibonda e le atrocità della guerra; lo ha bruciato all'intorno, e non ha capito, lo ha dato alle fiamme, e non ha inteso.
