Isaiah 26

1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.	1 In quel giorno sarà cantato questo cantico nella terra di Giuda. Nostra città forte è Sionne: sua muraglia, e suo parapetto sarà il Salvatore.
2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.	2 Aprite le porte, ed entri la gente giusta, che custodì la verità.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.	3 L'antico errore è dissipato: tu manterrai la pace: la pace, perchè in te' noi sperammo.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:	4 Voi poneste la speranza vostra nel Signore pe' secoli eterni, nel Signore Dio forte in perpetuo.
5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.	5 Perocché egli deprimerà quei, che stanno in posti sublimi, umilierà l'altiera città. La umilierà fino a terra, la abbasserà fino alla polvere.
6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.	6 La calpesteranno i piedi, i piedi del povero, le orme del mendico.
7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.	7 La via del giusto è diritta; diritti i sentieri, pe quali il giusto cammina.
8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.	8 E nella via de' tuoi giudizj noi te aspettammo, o Signore: il tuo nome, e la memoria di te sono il desiderio dell'anima.
9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.	9 L'anima mia te bramò nella notte: e col mio spirito, e col mio cuore mi volgerò a te dalla punta del giorno. Allorché tu avrai eseguiti i tuoi giudizj in terra, gli abitanti del mondo appareran la giustizia.
10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.	10 Abbiasi compassione dell'empio,ed ei non apparerà la giustizia: egli ha commesse iniquità nella terra dei santi, e non vedrà la gloria del Signore.
11 LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.	11 Alza, o Signor, la tua mano, ed ei non veggano: veggano gl'invidiosi del popolo, e rimangan confusi: e sian divorati dal fuoco i tuoi nemici.
12 LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.	12 Signore, tu a noi darai pace: perocché tutte le opere nostre hai tu fatte per noi.
13 O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.	13 Senza di te, o Signore Dio nostro, abbiamo avuti de' padroni, che ci han dominato: di te solo, e del nome tuo fa, che noi abbiamo memoria.
14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.	14 I morti non tornino a vivere; i giganti non risorgano: che perciò tu li visitasti, e gli sterminasti, e cancellasti affatto la loro memoria.
15 Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.	15 Tu favoristi, o Signore, la nazione, tu favoristi la nazione; ne sei tu stato forse glorificato per aver dilatati tutti i confini della (sua) terra?
16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.	16 Nell'afflizione cercaron te, o Signore, e la tribolazione, onde gemono, e per essi tua istruzione.
17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.	17 Come quella, che concepì, avvicinandosi al parto grida affannata nelle sue doglie, tali siam noi, o Signore, dinanzi a te.
18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.	18 Abbiam concepito, e abbiam qua si sofferti i dolori del parto, e abbiam partorito lo spirito. Noi non facemmo nella terra opere di salute, per questo non caddero gli abitatori della terra.
19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.	19 Avranno vita i tuoi morti; gli uccisi miei risorgeranno: svegliatevi, e cantate inni di laude voi, che abitate nella polvere: perocché la tua rugiada è rugiada di luce, e tu rovinerai la terra de' giganti.
20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.	20 Vanne popolo mio, entra nelle tue camere, chiudi dietro a te le tue porte, nasconditi un momento, fintantoché passi lo sdegno.
21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.	21 Imperocché ecco che il Signore verrà fuori dalla sua residenza a visitare l'iniquità dell'abitatore della terra contro di lui: e la terra renderà il sangue, che ha bevuto, e non ricoprirà più lungamente quelli, che sopra di lei furono uccisi.
