1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.	1 Oracle contre le désert proche de la mer: Cela vient du désert, d’une terre redoutable, comme un ouragan traversant le Négueb.
2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.	2 Je viens d’avoir une vision sinistre: Le traître trahit et le pilleur pille: Élamites, allez-y; Mèdes, à l’assaut! “J’ai fait taire les derniers gémissements.”
3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.	3 C’est pourquoi je suis rempli d’inquiétude, je suis saisi de convulsions comme les convulsions de la femme qui enfante, je suis trop bouleversé pour entendre, trop affolé pour voir.
4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.	4 Mon esprit s’égare, des choses affreuses me remplissent de terreur; je souhaitais le crépuscule: il me remplit d’épouvante.
5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.	5 On prépare la table, on étend les tapis, on mange et on boit. “Levez-vous chefs! Préparez vos boucliers!”
6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.	6 Oui, voici ce que m’a dit le Seigneur: “Va, mets en place un guetteur et qu’il te rapporte ce qu’il verra.
7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:	7 S’il voit un char, des cavaliers deux à deux, des hommes montés sur des ânes, des hommes montés sur des chameaux, qu’il fasse attention, très attention!”
8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:	8 Et puis le guetteur a crié: “Seigneur, je me tiens tout le jour sur la tour de guet, toute la nuit je suis debout et je monte la garde.
9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.	9 Voici une troupe montée et des cavaliers deux à deux.” Le guetteur a repris: “Elle est tombée, Babylone, elle est tombée avec les statues de ses dieux! Il les a toutes brisées à terre.”
10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.	10 Ô toi mon peuple qu’il a foulé, comme le grain sur son aire, ce que j’ai appris de Yahvé Sabaot, du Dieu d’Israël, je te l’annonce.
11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?	11 Oracle contre Douma: Depuis Séïr on me crie: “Guetteur, où en est la nuit? Guetteur où en la nuit?”
12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire ye: return, come.	12 Le guetteur a répondu: “Le matin vient mais aussi la nuit. Si vous voulez interroger, interrogez: revenez une autre fois!”
13 The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.	13 Oracle contre l’Arabie: Dans les steppes d’Arabie vous passez la nuit, caravanes des Dédanites.
14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.	14 Allez au-devant des assoiffés, apportez-leur de l’eau, habitants du pays de Téma! Allez avec du pain au-devant des fugitifs!
15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.	15 Car ils ont pris la fuite devant les épées, devant l’épée dégainée et l’arc bandé, ils ont fui la violence du combat.
16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:	16 Voici ce que le Seigneur m’a dit: “Encore une année comme on compte celle d’un salarié, et toute la gloire de Kédar aura disparu;
17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.	17 il ne restera que peu de chose des vaillants archers de Kédar: Yahvé, le Dieu d’Israël a parlé.
