1 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.	1 Certamente il Signore avrà pietà di Giacobbe e sceglierà ancora Israele, li ristabilirà sulla loro terra; lo straniero si unirà ad essi e sarà incorporato alla casa di Giacobbe.
2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.	2 I popoli li prenderanno e li condurranno nel loro paese; la casa di Israele se li approprierà sul suolo del Signore come servi e serve e faranno prigionieri quelli che li avevano fatti prigionieri e domineranno sui loro oppressori.
3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,	3 Nel giorno in cui il Signore ti avrà liberato dalla tua pena, dalla tua irrequietezza e dalla dura servitù con la quale sei stato asservito,
4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!	4 tu proferirai questa satira contro il re di Babilonia e dirai: "Come è finito l'oppressore, è cessata l'arroganza!
5 The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.	5 Il Signore ha spezzato la verga degli iniqui, lo scettro dei dominatori,
6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.	6 colui che furioso colpiva i popoli con colpi senza fine, che collerico dominava le nazioni, perseguitando senza respiro.
7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.	7 Tutta la terra si riposa, è tranquilla, erompe in grida di gioia.
8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.	8 Anche i cipressi gioiscono per te e i cedri del Libano: "Da quando giaci prostrato, i tagliaboschi non salgono più contro di noi".
9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.	9 Dal basso gli inferi si agitano per te, per farsi incontro al tuo arrivo; per te esso risveglia le ombre, tutti i potenti della terra; ha fatto sorgere dai loro troni tutti i re delle nazioni.
10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?	10 Tutti prendono la parola per dirti: "Anche tu sei stato fiaccato come noi, sei diventato simile a noi!".
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.	11 Il tuo fasto è disceso negli inferi, come la musica delle tue arpe. Sotto di te si stendono le larve, i vermi sono la tua coperta.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!	12 Come sei caduto dal cielo, astro del mattino, figlio dell'aurora! Come fosti precipitato a terra, tu che aggredivi tutte le nazioni!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:	13 Eppure tu pensavi in cuor tuo: "Salirò in cielo, al di sopra delle stelle di Dio erigerò il mio trono. Siederò sul monte dell'assemblea, ai confini del settentrione.
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.	14 Salirò sulle nubi più alte, sarò simile all'Altissimo".
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.	15 E invece sei stato precipitato negli inferi, nelle profondità dell'abisso!
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;	16 Quanti ti vedono, ti guardano fisso, verso di te guardano. "Questi è colui che faceva tremare la terra e faceva scuotere i regni,
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?	17 che ridusse il mondo in deserto, demolì le sue città, e non aprì ai suoi prigionieri il carcere?
18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.	18 Tutti i re delle nazioni, tutti riposano gloriosi ognuno nella propria tomba;
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.	19 tu, invece, sei stato gettato insepolto come un abominevole rampollo, coperto da uccisi, da trafitti di spada, deposti sulle pietre della fossa, come una carogna calpestata!
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.	20 Tu non sarai insieme ad essi nella sepoltura, poiché hai rovinato il tuo paese, hai massacrato il tuo popolo. Non sarà nominata la discendenza degli iniqui.
21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.	21 Preparate il massacro per i suoi figli, a causa dell'iniquità dei loro padri, non sorgeranno più per conquistare la terra e coprire la faccia del mondo di rovine".
22 For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.	22 Insorgerò contro di loro, oracolo del Signore degli eserciti, e distruggerò di Babilonia il nome ed il resto, stirpe e discendenza. Oracolo del Signore.
23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.	23 La renderò possesso del riccio, una palude stagnante! la spazzerò con la scopa della distruzione. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti".
24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:	24 Il Signore degli eserciti ha giurato: "Certo, come ho pensato, così sarà, e come ho deciso, così succederà!
25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.	25 Spezzerò l'Assiro nella mia terra e sui miei monti lo calpesterò. Il suo giogo sarà rimosso da essi, ed il suo peso sarà rimosso dalle loro spalle".
26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.	26 Questa è la decisione presa per tutta la terra e questa è la mano distesa su tutte le nazioni.
27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?	27 Quando il Signore degli eserciti prende una decisione, chi la potrà annullare? E quando la sua mano è distesa, chi potrà fargliela ritirare?
28 In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.	28 Nell'anno della morte del re Acaz fu pronunziato questo oracolo:
29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.	29 "Non rallegrarti, Filistea tutta intera, che la verga che ti percuote è stata spezzata! Poiché dalla radice del serpente uscirà una vipera, e il suo frutto sarà un drago volante.
30 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.	30 I poveri pascoleranno sui miei prati e i miseri riposeranno sicuri, ma farò morire di fame la tua posterità e ucciderò ciò che resta di te.
31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.	31 Gemi, o porta, urla, o città, trema, Filistea tutta quanta! Poiché dal settentrione arriva un fumo, e nessuno si sbanda nelle sue schiere".
32 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.	32 Che risposta si darà ai messaggeri della nazione? "Il Signore ha fondato Sion, in essa trovano rifugio i poveri del popolo".
