Canticle of Canticles 8

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yea, I should not be despised.	1 Ah! que ne m'es-tu un frère, allaité au sein de ma mère! Te rencontrant dehors, je pourraist'embrasser, sans que les gens me méprisent.
2 I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother's house, who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.	2 Je te conduirais, je t'introduirais dans la maison de ma mère, tu m'enseignerais! Je te ferais boireun vin parfumé, ma liqueur de grenades.
3 His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.	3 Son bras gauche est sous ma tête, et sa droite m'étreint.
4 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please.	4 Je vous en conjure, filles de Jérusalem, n'éveillez pas, ne réveillez pas mon amour, avant l'heure deson bon plaisir.
5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.	5 Qui est celle-ci qui monte du désert, appuyée sur son bien-aimé? Sous le pommier je t'ai réveillée,là même où ta mère te conçut, là où conçut celle qui t'a enfantée.
6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.	6 Pose-moi comme un sceau sur ton coeur, comme un sceau sur ton bras. Car l'amour est fort commela Mort, la passion inflexible comme le Shéol. Ses traits sont des traits de feu, une flamme de Yahvé.
7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.	7 Les grandes eaux ne pourront éteindre l'amour, ni les fleuves le submerger. Qui offrirait toutes lesrichesses de ma maison pour acheter l'amour, ne recueillerait que mépris.
8 We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?	8 Notre soeur est petite: elle n'a pas encore les seins formés. Que ferons-nous à notre soeur, le jouroù il sera question d'elle? --
9 If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she be a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar.	9 Si elle est un rempart, nous élèverons au faîte un couronnement d'argent; si elle est une porte, nousdresserons contre elle des ais de cèdre. --
10 I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour.	10 Je suis un mur, et mes seins en figurent les tours. Aussi ai-je à leurs yeux trouvé la paix.
11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.	11 Salomon avait une vigne à Baal-Hamôn. Il la confia à des gardiens, et chacun devait lui remettrele prix de son fruit: mille sicles d'argent.
12 My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred.	12 Ma vigne à moi, je l'ai sous mes yeux: à toi Salomon les mille sicles, et 200 aux gardiens de sonfruit.
13 Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it.	13 Toi qui habites les jardins, mes compagnons prêtent l'oreille à ta voix: daigne me la faireentendre!
14 Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices.	14 Fuis, mon bien-aimé, Sois semblable à une gazelle, à un jeune faon, sur les montagnesembaumées!
