1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.	1 Or egli avvenne, che un giorno presentatisi i figliuoli di Dio davanti al Signore, e venuto tra loro anche Satan a presentarsi al cospetto di lui,
2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.	2 Il Signore disse a Satan: D'onde vieni? E quegli rispose: Ho fatto il giro della terra, e la ho scorsa;
3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.	3 E il Signore disse a Satan: Hai tu posto mente a Giobbe mio servo, conm'ei non ha chi lo somigli sulla terra, uomo semplice, e retto, e timorato di Dio, alieno dal far male, e che conserva tuttor l'innocenza? E tu mi hai incitato contro di lui, perch'io lo tribolassi senza motivo.
4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.	4 Rispose a lui Satana, e disse: La pelle per la pelle, e tutto quello, che ha, lo darà l'uomo per la propria vita.
5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.	5 Ma stendi la tua mano, e tocca le sur ossa, e la sua carne, e allora vedrai s'ei dirà male di te in faccia.
6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.	6 Disse adunque il Signore a Satan: Su via, egli è in tuo potere, ma salva a lui la vita.
7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.	7 E partitosi Satan dalla presenza del Signore, percosse Giobbe con ulcera orribile dalla pianta del piede sino alla punta del capo:
8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.	8 Ed egli sedendo sopra un letamaio, con un coccio si radeva la marcia.
9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.	9 Or la sua moglie gli disse: Ancora ti resti tu nella tua semplicità? Benedici Dio, e muori.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.	10 Ed egli le disse: Come una delle donne prive di senno tu hai parlato. Se i beni abbiam ricevuti dalla mano del Signore, perché non prenderemo anche i mali? Per tutte queste cose non peccò Giobbe colle sue labbra.
11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.	11 Avendo pertanto udito tre amici di Giobbe tutte le avversità, che erano a lui accadute, si mossero ciascuno dalle case loro; Eliphaz di Theman, e Baldad di Sueh, e Sophar di Naamath; perocché si erano dati l'intesa di andare a visitarlo, e consolarlo.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.	12 E avendo da lungi alzato lo sguardo, noi riconoscevano, e sclamarono, e piansero, e stracciate le loro vesti sparsero la polvere sopra le loro teste.
13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.	13 E stetter con lui a sedere per terra sette giorni, e sette notti, e non gli disser parola, perocché vedevano, che il dolore era veemente.
