1 Then said Judith unto them, Hear me now, my brethren, and take this head, and hang it upon the highest place of your walls.	1 Judit les dijo: «Escúchenme, hermanos; tomen esta cabeza y cuélguenla sobre las almenas de la muralla,
2 And so soon as the morning shall appear, and the sun shall come forth upon the earth, take ye every one his weapons, and go forth every valiant man out of the city, and set ye a captain over them, as though ye would go down into the field toward the watch of the Assyrians; but go not down.	2 Después, cuando despunte el alba y se levante el sol sobre la tierra, cada uno de ustedes tomará sus armas de combate, y todos los que puedan hacerlo saldrán de la ciudad. Pónganles al frente un jefe como si fuera a descender a la llanura, hasta los puestos de avanzada de los asirios, pero no bajen.
3 Then they shall take their armour, and shall go into their camp, and raise up the captains of the army of Assur, and shall run to the tent of Holofernes, but shall not find him: then fear shall fall upon them, and they shall flee before your face.	3 Ellos tomarán sus armas e irán al campamento a despertar a los jefes de su ejército. Estos, a su vez, se precipitarán hacia la carpa de Holofernes y, al no encontrarlo, quedarán aterrorizados y huirán delante de ustedes.
4 So ye, and all that inhabit the coast of Israel, shall pursue them, and overthrow them as they go.	4 Ustedes y todos los habitantes del territorio de Israel los perseguirán, exterminándolos en su retirada.
5 But before ye do these things, call me Achior the Ammonite, that he may see and know him that despised the house of Israel, and that sent him to us as it were to his death.	5 Pero antes de ejecutar todo esto, tráiganme a Ajior, el amonita, para que él vea y reconozca al que había despreciado al pueblo de Israel, y lo envió para que muriera entre nosotros».
6 Then they called Achior out of the house of Ozias; and when he was come, and saw the head of Holofernes in a man's hand in the assembly of the people, he fell down on his face, and his spirit failed.	6 Llamaron entonces a Ajior, que estaba en la casa de Ozías. Cuando este llegó y vio la cabeza de Holofernes en la mano de uno de los hombres de la asamblea del pueblo, cayó desvanecido.
7 But when they had recovered him, he fell at Judith's feet, and reverenced her, and said, Blessed art thou in all the tabernacles of Juda, and in all nations, which hearing thy name shall be astonished.	7 Apenas lo reanimaron, se arrojó a los pies de Judit y, postrándose ante ella, exclamó: «Bendita seas en todos los campamentos de Judá y en todas las naciones, las que al escuchar tu nombre, quedarán asombradas.
8 Now therefore tell me all the things that thou hast done in these days. Then Judith declared unto him in the midst of the people all that she had done, from the day that she went forth until that hour she spake unto them.	8 Pero ahora cuéntame lo que has hecho durante todos estos días». Judit, en medio del pueblo, le contó todo lo que había hecho desde el día de su partida hasta ese momento.
9 And when she had left off speaking, the people shouted with a loud voice, and made a joyful noise in their city.	9 Cuando terminó de hablar, el pueblo la aclamó dando grandes vítores, y los gritos de júbilo se extendieron por toda la ciudad.
10 And when Achior had seen all that the God of Israel had done, he believed in God greatly, and circumcised the flesh of his foreskin, and was joined unto the house of Israel unto this day.	10 Ajior, por su parte, al ver todo lo que había realizado el Dios de Israel, creyó firmemente en él, se hizo circuncidar y fue incorporado al pueblo de Israel hasta el día de hoy.
11 And as soon as the morning arose, they hanged the head of Holofernes upon the wall, and every man took his weapons, and they went forth by bands unto the straits of the mountain.	11 Al despuntar el alba, colgaron de las murallas la cabeza de Holofernes, y todos los israelitas empuñaron sus armas y avanzaron en escuadrones por las laderas de la montaña.
12 But when the Assyrians saw them, they sent to their leaders, which came to their captains and tribunes, and to every one of their rulers.	12 Los asirios, al divisarlos, enviaron mensajeros a sus jefes; estos, a su vez, se dirigieron a los generales y capitanes y a todos sus oficiales.
13 So they came to Holofernes' tent, and said to him that had the charge of all his things, Waken now our lord: for the slaves have been bold to come down against us to battle, that they may be utterly destroyed.	13 Ellos llegaron a la carpa de Holofernes y dijeron a su mayordomo: «Despierta a nuestro señor, porque esos esclavos han tenido la audacia de bajar a combatir contra nosotros, para ser totalmente exterminados».
14 Then went in Bagoas, and knocked at the door of the tent; for he thought that he had slept with Judith.	14 Bagoas entró y golpeó las manos ante la cortina de la carpa, suponiendo que Holofernes estaba acostado con Judit.
15 But because none answered, he opened it, and went into the bedchamber, and found him cast upon the floor dead, and his head was taken from him.	15 Como nadie respondía, descorrió la cortina, penetró en el dormitorio y lo encontró muerto, tendido sobre el umbral y decapitado.
16 Therefore he cried with a loud voice, with weeping, and sighing, and a mighty cry, and rent his garments.	16 El lanzó un alarido, llorando y sollozando; y dando grandes gritos, desgarró sus vestiduras.
17 After he went into the tent where Judith lodged: and when he found her not, he leaped out to the people, and cried,	17 Luego entró en la carpa donde se alojaba Judit, y al no encontrarla, se precipitó hacia la tropa, vociferando:
18 These slaves have dealt treacherously; one woman of the Hebrews hath brought shame upon the house of king Nabuchodonosor: for, behold, Holofernes lieth upon the ground without a head.	18 «¡Esos esclavos nos han traicionado! ¡Una mujer hebrea ha cubierto de vergüenza la casa de Nabucodonosor! ¡Miren cómo yace Holofernes, tendido en el suelo y sin cabeza!».
19 When the captains of the Assyrians' army heard these words, they rent their coats and their minds were wonderfully troubled, and there was a cry and a very great noise throughout the camp.	19 Al oír estas palabras, los jefes del ejército asirio rasgaron sus túnicas, completamente desconcertados, y lanzaron grandes gritos y alaridos por todo el campamento.
