1 These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.	1 Questi sono, con le loro indicazioni genealogiche, i capifamiglia che salirono con me da Babilonia durante il regno del re Artaserse.
2 Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.	2 Dei figli di Finees: Ghersom; dei figli di Itamar: Daniele; dei figli di Davide: Cattus
3 Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.	3 figlio di Secania; dei figli di Paros: Zaccaria; con lui furono registrati centocinquanta maschi;
4 Of the sons of Pahath-moab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.	4 dei figli di Pacat-Moab: Elioenai figlio di Zerachia, e con lui duecento maschi;
5 Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.	5 dei figli di Zattu: Secania figlio di Iacaziel e con lui trecento maschi;
6 Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.	6 dei figli di Adin: Ebed figlio di Gionata e con lui cinquanta maschi;
7 And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.	7 dei figli di Elam: Isaia figlio di Atalia e con lui settanta maschi;
8 And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.	8 dei figli di Sefatia: Zebadia figlio di Michele e con lui ottanta maschi;
9 Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.	9 dei figli di Ioab: Obadia figlio di Iechiel e con lui duecentodiciotto maschi;
10 And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.	10 dei figli di Bani: Selomit figlio di Iosifia e con lui centosessanta maschi;
11 And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.	11 dei figli di Bebai: Zaccaria figlio di Bebai e con lui ventotto maschi;
12 And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.	12 dei figli di Azgad: Giovanni figlio di Akkatan e con lui centodieci maschi;
13 And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.	13 dei figli di Adonikam: gli ultimi, di cui ecco i nomi: Elifelet, Ieiel e Semaia e con loro sessanta maschi;
14 Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.	14 dei figli di Bigvai: Utai figlio di Zaccur e con lui settanta maschi.
15 And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.	15 Io li radunai presso il fiume che scorre verso Aavà e là rimanemmo accampati per tre giorni. Passai in rassegna il popolo e i sacerdoti e non vi trovai nessuno dei figli di Levi.
16 Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.	16 Allora feci venire i capi Eliezer, Ariel, Semaia ed Elnatan, Iarib, Natan, Zaccaria, Mesullàm e gli istruttori Ioiarib ed Elnatan
17 And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.	17 e li mandai da Iddo, il capo della borgata di Casifià. Io misi sulle loro labbra le parole da dire a Iddo e ai suoi fratelli oblati, nella borgata di Casifià, che ci mandassero cioè degli inservienti per la casa del nostro Dio.
18 And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;	18 Poiché la mano benevola del nostro Dio era sopra di noi, ci inviarono un uomo prudente, uno dei figli di Macli, figlio di Levi, figlio d'Israele, Serebià, con i suoi diciotto figli e fratelli;
19 And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;	19 e Casabià e con lui Isaia, dei figli di Merari, e i loro fratelli e figli in numero di venti.
20 Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.	20 Degli oblati, che Davide e i capi avevano dato in servizio ai leviti, duecentoventi. Tutti furono registrati con i loro nomi.
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.	21 Là, presso il fiume Aavà, io bandii un digiuno, affinché ci umiliassimo davanti al nostro Dio, per impetrare un viaggio felice per noi, per i nostri figli e per tutti i nostri beni.
22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.	22 Avevo avuto vergogna infatti di chiedere al re una scorta armata e cavalieri, che ci difendessero dal nemico lungo il cammino. Anzi avevamo detto così al re: "La mano del nostro Dio è su coloro che lo cercano per il loro bene, e invece la sua potenza e la sua collera su quanti lo abbandonano".
23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.	23 Digiunammo dunque e invocammo il nostro Dio per questo motivo; ed egli ci esaudì.
24 Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,	24 Quindi scelsi dodici tra i capi dei sacerdoti, e cioè Serebià, Casabià e con essi dieci dei loro fratelli;
25 And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellers, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:	25 e pesai loro l'argento, l'oro e gli utensili, ossia l'offerta che il re, i suoi consiglieri, i suoi capi e tutti gl'Israeliti là dimoranti avevano prelevato per la casa del nostro Dio.
26 I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;	26 Nelle loro mani pesai seicentocinquanta talenti d'argento, cento utensili d'argento da due talenti, cento talenti d'oro,
27 Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.	27 venti coppe d'oro da mille darici e due utensili di rame splendente, preziosi come l'oro.
28 And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.	28 Poi dissi loro: "Voi siete sacri al Signore. Anche gli utensili sono sacri. L'argento e l'oro sono offerta volontaria al Signore, Dio dei nostri padri.
29 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.	29 Vigilate e custoditeli fino a quando li peserete davanti ai capi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti e ai capifamiglia d'Israele, a Gerusalemme, nelle camere della casa del Signore".
30 So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.	30 Allora i sacerdoti e i leviti presero in consegna, già pesati, l'argento, l'oro e gli utensili, per portarli a Gerusalemme, nella casa del nostro Dio.
31 Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.	31 Partimmo dal fiume Aavà il dodici del primo mese, incamminandoci verso Gerusalemme. La mano del nostro Dio fu sopra di noi e ci liberò, lungo il cammino, dalla violenza del nemico e del predone.
32 And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.	32 Giungemmo a Gerusalemme e riposammo qui tre giorni.
33 Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;	33 Il quarto giorno vennero pesati l'argento, l'oro e gli utensili nella casa del nostro Dio, nelle mani del sacerdote Meremòt, figlio di Uria, con cui v'era Eleazaro, figlio di Finees, e assieme a loro Iozabàd, figlio di Giosuè, e Noadia, figlio di Binnui, leviti.
34 By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.	34 Si computò numero e peso di tutto e fu registrato il peso totale. In quel tempo,
35 Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.	35 coloro che erano venuti dall'esilio, i deportati, offrirono olocausti al Dio d'Israele: dodici tori per l'intero Israele, novantasei montoni, settantasette agnelli e dodici capri per il peccato: il tutto in olocausto al Signore.
36 And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.	36 Poi consegnarono i decreti del re ai satrapi reali e ai governatori dell'Oltrefiume; e questi aiutarono il popolo e la casa di Dio.
