Ezra 10

1 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.	1 - Or mentre Esdra così pregava ed implorava piangendo, prosteso innanzi al tempio di Dio, si radunò intorno a lui un numero grandissimo d'uomini, donne e fanciulli, e la turba piangeva a calde lacrime.
2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.	2 Sechenia figlio di Jeiel, de' figli di Elam, prese la parola, e disse ad Esdra: «Noi abbiamo peccato contro il Dio nostro, ed abbiamo preso mogli straniere, dei popoli di queste terre. Ed ora, se Israele se ne pente,
3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.	3 facciamo col Signore Dio nostro il patto di repudiare tutte queste donne, ed i figli nati da esse, per far la volontà del Signore e di quelli che temono i comandamenti del Signore Dio nostro; si faccia secondo la legge.
4 Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.	4 Alzati; sta a te il dar ordini, e noi saremo con te. Fatti animo, ed agisci».
5 Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.	5 Esdra dunque s'alzò, e scongiurò i capi dei sacerdoti e de' leviti, e tutto Israele, di fare come [Sechenia] aveva detto. E lo giurarono.
6 Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.	6 Allora Esdra si levò dal cospetto della casa di Dio, per andare alla stanza di Joanon figlio di Eliesib; e vi entrò; ma non mangiò pane nè bevve acqua, perchè piangeva il peccato di quelli tornati dalla cattività.
7 And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;	7 E fu data voce in Giuda ed in Gerusalemme, a tutti i trasmigrati dalla cattività, che convenissero in Gerusalemme;
8 And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.	8 e chiunque entro tre giorni non fosse venuto, per ordine dei principi e de' seniori, gli sarebbero confiscati tutti gli averi, ed egli scacciato dalla comunità dei trasmigrati.
9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.	9 Si radunarono dunque, al terzo giorno, in Gerusalemme, tutti gli uomini di Giuda e di Beniamino, ai venti del nono mese. Tutto il popolo sedè sulla piazza della casa di Dio, tremando per il suo peccato e per la pioggia.
10 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.	10 Esdra sacerdote s'alzò, e disse loro: «Voi avete disobbedito prendendo mogli straniere, ed avete aggiunto ai peccati d'Israele anche questo.
11 Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.	11 Ed ora, date gloria al Signore Dio de' padri vostri: fate quel che egli vuole, e separatevi dai popoli di queste regioni, e dalle mogli straniere».
12 Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.	12 Rispose tutta la moltitudine a gran voce, e disse: «Come ci hai detto, così sia fatto.
13 But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.	13 Ma poichè siamo una gran moltitudine, e piove, e non reggiamo a stare all'aperto, e non è faccenda d'un giorno o due, essendo stato grande su ciò il nostro peccato,
14 Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.	14 si stabiliscano dei capi fra tutto il popolo; tutti quelli delle nostre città che hanno preso mogli straniere vengano ai giorni stabiliti, insieme ai seniori di ciascuna città ed ai suoi giudici, sinchè sia dileguata di sopra noi l'ira di Dio per il nostro peccato».
15 Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.	15 Furono dunque a ciò deputati Jonatan figlio di Azael, e Jaasia figlio di Tecue; Messolam e Sebetai, leviti, li aiutarono.
16 And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.	16 I ritornati dalla trasmigrazione fecero come era stato detto. Ed Esdra sacerdote ed i capi delle famiglie andarono per le case de' padri di famiglia notati ciascuno per nome, e si radunarono il giorno primo del decimo mese per esaminare la cosa.
17 And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.	17 La lista di tutti gli uomini che avevano sposato donne straniere fu compiuta il primo giorno del primo mese.
18 And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.	18 Dei figli di sacerdoti, fu trovato che avevano preso mogli straniere i seguenti: Dei figli di Josue, i figli di Josebec, ed i suoi fratelli Maasia, Eliezer, Jarib e Godolia.
19 And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.	19 Stese le mani, s'impegnarono a mandar via le proprie mogli, ed offrire per il loro peccato un ariete del gregge.
20 And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.	20 De' figli di Emmer, Anani e Zebedia.
21 And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.	21 De' figli di Arim, Maasia, Elia, Semeia, Jeiel ed Ozia.
22 And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.	22 De' figli di Fesur, Elioenai, Maasia, Ismael, Natanael, Jozabed ed Elasa.
23 Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.	23 De' figli di leviti: Jozabel, Semei, Celaia detto anche Calita, Fataia, Juda ed Eliezer.
24 Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.	24 De' cantori, Eliasib. Degli ostiarii: Sellum, Telem e Uri.
25 Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.	25 Del popolo d'Israele. De' figli di Faros: Remeia, Jezia, Miamin, Eliezer, Melchia e Banea.
26 And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.	26 De' figli di Elam: Matania, Zaccaria, Jeiel, Abdi, Jerimot ed Elia.
27 And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.	27 De' figli di Zetua: Elioenai, Eliasib, Matania, Jerimut, Zabad e Aziza.
28 Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.	28 Dei figli di Bebai: Joanan, Anania, Zabbai, Atalai.
29 And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.	29 De' figli di Bani: Mosollam, Melluc, Adaia, Jasub, Saal e Ramot.
30 And of the sons of Pahath-moab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.	30 De' figli di Falat-Moab: Edna, Calal, Banaias, Maasias, Matanias, Beseleel, Bennui e Manasse.
31 And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,	31 Dei figli di Erem: Eliezer, Josue, Melchias, Semeias, Simeon,
32 Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.	32 Benjamin, Maloc, Samarias.
33 Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.	33 De' figli di Asom: Matanai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelet, Jermai, Manasse, Semei.
34 Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,	34 De' figli di Bani: Maaddi, Amram, Uel,
35 Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,	35 Baneas, Badaias, Cheliau,
36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,	36 Vania, Marimut, Eliasib,
37 Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,	37 Matanias, Matanai, Jasi,
38 And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,	38 Bani, Bennui, Semei,
39 And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,	39 Salmias, Natan, Adaias,
40 Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,	40 Mecnedebai, Sisai, Sarai,
41 Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,	41 Ezrel, Selemiau, Semeria,
42 Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.	42 Sellum, Amaria, Josef.
43 Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.	43 De' figli di Nebo: Jeiel, Matatias, Zabad, Zabina, Jeddu, Joel e Banaia.
44 All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.	44 Tutti questi avevan preso mogli straniere; e di queste, ve ne eran che avevano partorito figli.
